Mission: The Race for the Lost Treasure

"Weapons are charged and locked, yet they aren't firing. Nor are they responding to hails. What do they WANT?" Sam asked.
"Maybe they're a diversion," One of the Marines said stepping forward. "You know, like the rope-a-dope technique." Looking around he blushed, and stepped back. He was still young and new to the corps.
"Logic would assume, that as they have charged their weapons, and haven't launched them yet, and they are not responding to hails, that they are curious to see how we respond, and, perhaps, are attempting to communicate, using non-standard methodology. In addition-"
"How long is this going to take, Stran?" Levue asked, as Daniels disappeared into the turbo-lift.
"1.7 minutes." Stran said, with a raised eyebrow.
"Then shut it." Levue said. "Take your station."
"Yes, ma'am."

Leo and his man had grabbed their weapons and were roving the decks. The boarding teams were standing by, ready to 'swing over' when the call came. He had been voted off the team by his own men. He had in fact switched to diplomacy in some things. Didn't mean he wouldn't sneak over and go for the head if it was warranted. Smiling, he continued to walk the halls, passing other roving Marines and some Security. It was all their home, they had to play together.

"Ronnie, identify the other ship."
"It's the Blackheart," Ronnie responded a moment later.
Kilgore's ship. What kind of game was he playing? she wondered.
The Blackheart fired its torpedoes, hitting one of the phaser canons on the Calypso.
"Return fire," Sam ordered. "Try not to destroy the ship. I want to know what they're doing here and how they knew we would be here."
Stran nodded to Samantha. "Yes, Captain." Stran said, taking direct control of the phaser arrays. "High-damage energy-disruption only mode activated. Firing."
"Preparing Torpedo spread, Electro-dampening Pulse only." Cassandra added, pressing several of the controls on the back of the display. "I need three hands. Levue to Daniels, get back here."
A head popped out of the turbo-lift, practically at once. "Does this mean I'm not restricted to quarters."
"YES! Just man the strategy theorem display." Levue said, with a growl.
"Yes, ma'am." Daniels said, nodding.
The phasers hit the other ship and its power dimmed for a second before coming back. It fired again at the Calypso, targeting their weapons. "Evasive maneuvers," she ordered. "Return fire. Take out their weapons and engines."
Stran nodded. "Their shields need to be down first, ma'am." Stran said, pointedly.
"SHE BLOODY KNOWS THAT STRAN."
"Her commentary-"
"STRAN! PHASERS!"
"Yes Ma'am."
Daniels simply shook his head. "Delta Four. If they veer too much more to the 121 Mark 4 range, switch to Delta Six."
Sam shook her head. Some days she wondered how the ship stayed in the sky. But then, she did believe in miracles.
Another phaser blast hit the ship, causing minimal damage. It reminded her of Morgana and her shuttle. Was there a connection? Was the other ship trying to scare them and not harm them? "Ensign Stran, two torpedoes over the port bow. Let them know we're serious."
"Yes, ma'am." Stran said, nodding.
The shots narrowly missed the other ship, as was intended. BUt, instead of retaliating as expected, the Blackheart, in true Kamikaze fashion, headed straight for the Calypso. At the last second it veered off and disappeared. "Find the ship," Sam ordered.
"Negative result on tactical sensors." Levue noted.
"Tracking systems are working." Stran said.
"Recommend we use an energy-dampening Phaser spread, covering every plausible angle around the ship, to attempt to illuminate, and disable any cloaking devices in use." Daniels said, pointedly. "At least, that's what the tactical computer recommends. Sounds like a good recommendation, so I parrot it confidently."
"Do it. Search for tachyon paticles as well. If he's cloaked, I want to find him," Sam ordered.
She tapped the comm button on her chair. "York to Mangalia. Keep your eye out for possible intruders. I'm not sure what the pirates are up to, but I don't want to be caught off-guard."
"Stran, Epsilon Forty Nine." Daniels noted.
Levue watched the scanners. Every beam that fired. Hit nothing. Nothing. Still nothing. She cursed, inwardly, refusing to voice such a phrase.
Leo's voice came over the comm a second later. -^-Ma'am, whens the last time you heard of someone getting the drop on me and my boys?-^- Silence for a second then the sound of a soft strike and a faint chuckle. -^-You know, I don't think I want that answer. Eyes will be open.-^-
"Thank you, Captain," Sam chuckled. "I have no doubt you'll be on top of things."
Sam turned to Levue and Ronnie. "Any sign of the ship?"
"Negative. I don't know what it did, but it seems to be gone. No elevated tachyon particles to indicated a cloaked ship," Ronnie said.
"What she said." Daniels noted, watching Levue and stran silently argue over arguing sensor readings, on the console.
"Stand down from red alert, but keep a close eye out in case they come back," Sam sighed. The attack made no sense.
"York to away team. Meet me in the shuttle bay in one hour." Now she really wanted to find out what was on the planet.
