Mission:
The Race for the Lost Treasure
Location: Shuttlebay
ON
[Prior to Departure]
~~Around the ship~~
Noelle had her team divided up and was patrolling the ship for possible intruders. She was alert to everything, and often stopped to look around for anything unusual. She kept moving with a steady step and eagle eyes.
Leo walked around laughing and looked at his own team. "Mount up! We're wheels up in ten!" Hefting a knife he smiled. "Ghassan, when we get back this time I'll take a look at your forge and design table. This ones a little blade hefty and used in a couple ground assaults."
[Shuttlebay]
Sam arranged to meet the away team in the shuttle bay so she could speak to them before they left for the planet. She wished she could be with them -- lead the team, even, but with the recent attacks, Starfleet would have kittens. As would Damon if he found out about it.
In her hand she had a specially-programmed tricorder for Ronnie so she could translate any ancient symbols they might encounter.
Ronnie walked into the shuttle bay and smiled. "Hi, Captain. Wish you could come with us."
"So do I," Sam sighed and handed Ronnie the tricorder. "This is programmed to translate the known ancient symbols. It'll help if you find the civilization I hope is down there."
Ronnie took the tricorder and looked through it for a moment. "Thanks. I'll let you know if we find anything."
"The goal is to see if there really is an ancient civilization. Bring back some evidence of it so we can send it on to Starfleet."
Ronnie nodded. "Will do."
Damion walked into the shuttle bay. He had his standard away team weapon, plus a little something extra strapped onto his thigh, in a holster. He hurried up as much as he could and then stopped, standing next to Ronnie. He leaned into her slightly and whispered. "I told you it would have been faster if we showered together." Damion then cleared his throat and then looked over to the Captain. "What did I miss, Ma'am?"
"It generally is," Sam said, chuckling. She grinned as she saw Ronnie blush. It was good to see her friend look so happy. "You didn't miss much."
Ronnie gave up all pretenses and buried her face against Damion's shoulder. "She's almost as bad as a Vulcan."
"Not quite," Sam answered, laughing. "But being Betazoid helps." After a moment she relented. "I shouldn't tease. You two remind me of myself and Damon. It's a good thing."
"Can we not make this about us and get back to the matter at hand, please... uhh... Ma'am." Damion responded and then cleared his throat, giving Ronnie a little bit of a shrug.
"You're the one who commented, Lieutenant. As Captain it IS my business to be sure my crew is happy and fit for duty." She smiled at Ronnie. "And Ronnie is my friend, so I have a more ... personal interest."
Maddison, and Robert Tyler entered the room. "Well. This is interesting to walk in on." Robert noted.
"I imagine so," Sam said, grinning. But she wasn't going to elaborate.
Maddison nodded to Damion and Ronnie. "Cute couple, they make, right there." Maddison said. "They'd probably have really cute kids."
Sam didn't comment on that, either.
Leo walked in on the end of that sentence and looked around. "God, I hope that wasn't directed at me," he said with a tired grin. "So what's the thing we're doing this time? More scuba diving after a pirate attack?"
Robert Tyler grinned. "You know what they say, Marine Captain. Adventure is made up of treasure, pirates, and mermaids. We've got two of three."
A good, solid, smack upside the head was his reward for his clever shot at his wife.
"I'd say we have THREE, if we count your wife," Sam responded. "Okay, I think we're all here now. I've given Ronnie a tricorder that can translate the ancient symbols. Your job is to find the 'treasure' on the planet. I'm pretty sure we're looking for an ancient civilization. Scans have been inconclusive, so you may end up swimming, Captain."
"Nah, we still need treasure." Tyler said, with a broad grin. "Which sounds like fun. Let's go get us some treasure."
Maddison pondered who should die first. Robert, or Samantha. She refrained from disclosing either, rolled her eyes and sighed.
"So its time for Ronnie to get a bath again, I'll bring the shampoo," Leo said with a smile and a quick step back. "Scuba gear already on the shuttle?" He was wearing the bodysuit and had the helmet again. Walking by, he stepped lightly around Lancaster, waiting for the smack.
Ronnie obliged, smacking Leo with her messenger bag. "Maddison won't appreciate it if you pollute the ocean. Remember Mak?"
Patrick watched the interaction between them and smiled for a bit before shaking his head and climbing onto the shuttle. He'd worked with SCBA gear before but never SCUBA gear.
Scuba Diving? Damion through to himself with a bit of a hesitation. He looked over to Ronnie and then sighed as he just stayed silent and began to walk to the Shuttle. "This should be interesting?" He said softly ran his hand through his hair slowly.
Maddison patted Damion on the back. "It's nothing to worry about. Just a bit of swimming."
"Easy for you to say, darling. You can't drown." Robert noted, dryly.
"Don't tempt me, darling. Don't tempt me." Maddison said, throwing a look at her husband.
Trent, who was quite content to sit back and say little, simply shook his head with a smile on his face as he gave his diving gear a visual check in the back corner of the room. unlike the Starfleet standard issue gear they had been given, Trent had his own personal gear taken out of storage for the mission. It had only been a couple of weeks since he had used it in the holodeck, however, the real thing required extra care in both preparation and operation alike. The airflow seals were of particular interest to him as he gave his equipment the the vital concern it deserved.
"The shuttle will take you to what we believe to be the lost city. Or lost building, I'm not quite sure how big the settlement was. Anyway, you're to find what you can on the lost civilization and report back. Any questions?" Sam said, forestalling more arguments.
Trent hefted his equipment over his shoulder in response. He was clearly anxious to get into the water. Any further questions would only delay them.
"Good luck and be careful," Sam concluded.
The shuttle pilot popped his head out of the shuttle. "We're all set to go. If you could all take your seats and buckle up, we'll be on our way."
Sophia couldn't pass up a chance to go planet side, even if it did involve a whole lot of water. She hurried into the shuttle bay just as the rest of the away team was starting to board.
"Oh good! I didn't miss it." she said excitedly. Then she added playfully, "Shotgun!"
The shuttle pilot chuckled and waived to the co-pilot's seat. "All yours. Hope you can fly," he teased. "Okay, folks, keep your hands and arms inside the ride at all times. Next stop, planetside."
