Marine Position Breakdown

COMMANDING OFFICER

Description: The Marine CO is responsible for all the Marine personnel assigned to the ship/facility. S/he is required to take command of any special ground operations and coordinate such actions with security. The Marines could be called the 24th century commandos.

The CO can range from a Second Lieutenant on a small ship to a Lieutenant Colonel on a large facility or colony. Charged with the training, condition and tactical leadership of the Marine compliment, they are a member of the senior staff.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Description: The Executive Officer of the Marines works like any Asst. Department head, removing some of the work load from the Marine CO and if the need arises taking on the role of Marine CO. S/he oversees the regular duties of the Marines, from regular drills to equipment training, assignment and supply request to the ship/facilities Materials Officer.

FIRST SERGEANT

Description: The First Sergeant is the highest ranked enlisted marine. S/He is in charge of all of the marine enlisted affairs in the detachment. They assist the Company or Detachment Commander as their Executive Officer would. They act as a bridge, closing the gap between the NCO's and the Officers.

GUNNERY SERGEANT

Description: The Gunnery Sergeant is the next highest enlisted marine after First Sergeant. S/He is in charge of coordinating all logistics for the company-size group of Marines. They are the operations chief of a company of Marines.

Description: The Training NCO is in charge of developing and maintaining all training records. S/He monitors, schedules, and prepares trainings. They also attend schools and conferences as required in order to stay up to date with new training systems.

PLATOON LEADER

Description: The Platoon Leader is a junior officer that is in command of a platoon. S/He is usually a junior officer - a second or first lieutenant. They are responsible for those that are assigned to their platoon. A platoon size is 26 to 55 personal.

PLATOON SERGEANT

Description: The Platoon Sergeant is the senior enlisted member of a platoon. Their job is extremely crucial. A Platoon Sergeant wears many different hats. They ensure the safety of the unit and equipment. S/He is responsible for administrative duties and they are also part counselor in tight situations. They are versatile and experienced member of the platoon that advises and supports the platoon's commanding officer.

SQUAD LEADER

Description: The Squad leader is in command of a small military unit that consist of 8 to 13 Marines. They are responsible for those that are assigned to their squad.

Description: The corpsman is an enlisted Starfleet field medic that has been assigned to a Marine platoon. They are the only medical care-giver available when the Marines are deployed on assignment. They are capable of stabilizing casualties, administering medications and even performing basic surgical procedures.

Description: A Marine is the backbone of the Marines Corps. They are the fire ones in and the last ones out. They have been trained in variety of means of ranged projectile weapons, sniping and hand to hand combat. They are a very lethal warrior.
