Mission: The Race for the Lost Treasure
Location: Sickbay

Cassandra walked in to sickbay, to see a familiar face...

...well, shimmer, already in the waiting room.

She approached the receptionist. "Greetings. I'm Lieutenant JG Cassandra Levue, new transfer, Chief Security and Tactical Officer. I'll need a full medical work-up, as soon as a doctor is available, please." She said, with a smile, and a nod. She then took a seat, next to Ensign Tyler, who was patiently waiting.

"Oh, Lieutenant Levue, you mean you have to book a place, with that lady, to see a doctor?" Ensign Tyler asked.

"Usually. Unless you are cut open, and bleeding all over the place." Cassandra said, with a chuckle.

Tyler looked down, slightly, as she approached the receptionist's desk. "I need to book an appointment with a xeno-medical practitioner skilled in..." She spoke the next works quietly enough so that Cassandra could not hear, "cases of suspicion of interracial child bearing." She said. "Ensign Maddison Tyler. I'd spell out the proper first name, but there are too many e's."

A nurse came out, "Lieutenant Cassandra Levue."

Cassandra nodded, and followed the nurse.

"Have a seat here," Nurse Jaynes said.

Cassandra took the seat, and waited, patiently, for further instructions.

"I'm nurse Yvette Jaynes. So, you are here for a physical? Any medical concerns or anything out of the ordinary?" She glanced through her medical database, knowing that Cassandra is a Betazoid and a chief security/tactial officer.

"Nothing not on file. Had a fungal infection 2 years back, and my right foot got severed, and had to be regrown, when I was 20." Cassandra said, shrugging. "Nothing special, nothing new."

Yvette accidently dropped an instrument on the floor and picked it up to place it in the biohazard container. She blushed, feeling embarrassed about being a little clumsy. "Oh," she said, picking up the tricorder, and opened it to start the scans on Cassandra.

Meanwhile, Doctor Bowen finished her paperwork and left her office to pick up the PADD of patient appointments. She walked over to the receptionist's desk to confirm who was next. "Ensign Maddison Tyler," she called out loud, seeing only one person waiting.

The aquatic woman stood, and nodded to the doctor. "Uh... hi." She said, with a bit of a blush. "Uh... how do I explain this easily..."

She looked down. "I have missed... something." She said. "Something. Important. That only happens once a month."

The doctor frowned as she wasn't sure what she means. "Follow me...maybe the physical exam will tell me what's going on." Leanne walked to an area that has more privacy. As soon as the woman sat on the biobed, she pulled the curtains around. "What is it that you have missed?" She asked as she started the scans with the tricorder.

"Look, lady. I know enough about human biology to know you are either intentionally being dense to annoy me for some sociological slight, or another, or you just don't feel like doing your job today. Let's spell it out, in simple words, then. I've missed something, that happens, every month, to females of both my, and your species, unless there is either something wrong with their reproductive systems, or something right. Am I being clear enough, now?" She asked, as she turned off her aquatic field generator, knowing it often impaired with medical scanners.

What's with the attitude of this woman? Leanne thought as she continued to do her scans. "You have mistaken or judge me wrongfully," the doctor said. "I assume that you are talking about a menustration. My scans is showing a new life form..."

"I was attempting to be discreet." Maddison said, with a scowl. "You know, because it's kind of something really personal."

"Word said between a patient and a doctor remains confidential," Leanne explained as she puts the instrument away.

"So... you are sure?" Maddison said, looking at the tricorder. "Then we've got something difficult to discuss. My husband is not Velurian. He is human. I'm not even certain if the biologies will talk very nicely with each other."

"The scans do not lie...you do have a life form developing inside, but at a very early stage. If you don't mind, I need more blood work to do some research to see if there is any conflicts or complications with the two DNAs, between your species and the human. I might need to get your husband's blood as well...unless, you are keeping a secret from him." The doctor picked up the hypospray and put in an empty container to draw blood. She waited for her permission to do so.

"Well, go ahead. I've got to have a long chat with my husband. Let's get on with it." Maddison said, impatiently.

Back to Nurse Jaynes, she closed the tricorder after it beeped. "Lieutenant, your scans didn't show anything abnormal so your health is good. Your right foot looks normal, too. Any questions?"

"Not one." Levue said, as she nodded to the nurse. "Anything else you require?"

Yvette entered his information into his database record that he was all set and handed him the PADD. "Sign here and you are free to go, sir."

Levue nodded, and signed the PADD. "Thanks for making that short, and sweet. Doctor Wilcox was fond of long, boring, annoying, stories, paired with alcohol, whenever a senior staff member had a physical. His scoring was apparently based entirely on how many shots you could handle."

"I am not familiar with this doctor or even heard of him. I surely would hate to waste someone's time...", Yvette said as she took the signed PADD and placed it on the nearby tray.

"Appreciated." Levue said, nodding, as she stood up, and re-entered the common area of sickbay.

Back to Doctor Bowen, she drew Maddison's blood into the hypospray's container and placed the instrument on the near-by tray. She picked up the PADD to glance at the schedule. "Can your husband come in this afternoon about 1500 so I can get his blood?"

"Of course." She said, softly. She looked sharply, at Cassandra. "Uh... Chief. Hi."

"I will discuss things later, Miss Tyler." Levue said, with a nod. She nodded to Doctor Bowen.

Doctor Bowen set the schedule and looked at the Ensign. "You are all set...just sign here," she said as she handed the PADD to her.

Maddison nodded, and signed Doctor Bowen's PADD.

Leanne watched Maddison leave through the doors of sickbay before she picked up her vial with blood in it, taking it straight to the lab area. A technician took it from her and placed it in a special machine that sorts the blood out and analyzes it. She went back to her office to put away the PADD and grab a cup of tea from the replicator. Not the end of the shift, yet, she thought.
