Mission: Shades of Gray
Location: Michnar VII

ON

All the civilians in the warehouse were now sleeping peacefully in their cots. Hel sat in a camp chair watching over the now-peaceful citizenry. She stood and stretched. Time to do another round to make sure everything was okay.

Doctor Bowen was relieved that things have calmed down. She removed her suit as it was useless with a hole in it. She approached nurse Helga Lowe. "Did you find out the status of my blood results?"

"Yes, ma'am. You've got the virus, but it's very mild right now," Hel said. "You may have no symptoms at all or the virus may grow. Onlytime will tell. I'm sorry, Doctor."

***Else where in the warehouse***

The two Marines that had come in, grenades preceding them were making their rounds again. Everything seemed quiet, and they hadn't heard word about a virus, so didn't know to be suited up for anything. "Anything your way?" The one asked the other.

"It's all clear over here," the second Marine answered in a whisper. "But I somehow feel we're going to be fighting an uphill battle when they all wake up. Those grenades don't always make happy people."

The first Marine laughed at his twins comment and continued to watch. Being full blood Betazoids, they could talk telepathically, but knew that that would freak others out. They didn't do it much any more, not after Basic when it had been found out that they could hold off the rest of the training platoon, without so much as a hand signal. "At least they're peaceful right now, we need a lull in the action. Have you heard anything about the CO?"

"Not a peep, but as soon as he's awake and better, we'll know."

----

"Stran, you can't-" Daniels said, holding a phaser on the man, to keep him in his cot. "You've got the virus. You can't beam back. I know you want to make sure Kyt is safe-"

"You know NOTHING of my mindset, Daniels." Stran said, moving to attempt to Vulcan-nerve pinch him. He never got the chance.

PEW!

Stran slumped back into his cot, as a high-intensity phaser blast hit him from Daniels' phaser.

"All clear. Just keeping a difficult patient on the bed." Daniels said, aloud. Why the hell he didn't have it, and STRAN did, he had not the foggiest clue.

Callen was glade everyone was down and out, she was quite tired of dealing with crazy people enough to last a life time. She kept a mental note to remind her commander not to voleenter her for something like this again. She did a walk threw of the wear house and then walked outside for some fresh air. She yawned and then folded her arms as she stepped outside in the cool night. She looked over and saw a few of her fellow officer walk by doing there own thing. Then she looked up at the starry sky and think of Lt. Ross. She hated how things were left between them and she had hoped that at the party a month ago things would have been fixed but he never really showed intrest in her. She shook her head of such thoughts as she went back to see the Doctor.

Reaching the Doctor and the head nurse she smiled and made a seat next to them. With her arms still folded she asked, "So how are things going?"

"Not too good. We are still working on finding some kind of antidote for this and what or how this virus replicates and so forth...", Doctor Bowen said as she glanced at some slides with different blood on it. "What's happening outside?"

"Nothing at the moment," Helena said. She'd been passing by on her rounds and overheard the conversation. "Things are pretty quiet right now -- as long as we don't have to keep people quarantined for too long."

The two Marines that had been making rounds appeared as if from no where, and grabbed canteens of water, in unison. They didn't even know they were doing it. "What was the phaser blast about?" One asked, the other taking a drink of the water. "Because after that we heard all clear, we just want to make sure someone that actually has the virus got hit, not someone that needed to stay awake."

Noelle walked over and spoke to the twins "Anything to report?" She asked as she looked out over the sleeping people. She kept a wary eye on everyone "I'd like for the two of you to do another sweep of the compound for any additional bombs so that we don't have any additional injuries from that." She said.

"We just finished Ma'am," they said in unison. "Nothing to report, and one poorly thrown grenade that wasn't armed. The person in question was long gone before we recovered." The Marine on the left hefted the ancient fragmentation grenade and shook his head. "M-82 anti personnel 'pineapple'. Effective range, fifteen feet, once the pin is thrown. Three to five second fuse time. We have a feeling it was nothing more than a scare tactic."
