[Sickbay Office]

Time for a promotion, Leanne thought as she entered her office in sickbay and sat down. Earlier, she went to the ceremony for the promotion from Lieutenant to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander. It was an enjoyable celebration.

At her desk, she glanced over the profiles on Doctor Hart, Barbara Tarango, and Yvette Jaynes. It was time for her department to have an Assistant Chief title, approved by the Captain a few hours ago. It is good to have this title in case something ever happens to me...at least to have someone in charge. Doctor Hart is the choice.

She looked at the recent memo and read out loud, "Shuttlecraft scheduled to meet tomorrow with Calypso with new crewmembers," she skipped a few names that were no concern to her and continued, "Doctor Wesley Valdez...Surgeon/medical officer and Nurse Laura Tay'ork". Leanne smiled as she was glad to have two new additions to sickbay. They have been short for awhile, before she requested to the Captain for more crewmembers.

After she closed the memo, Doctor Bowen glanced at Doctor Hart's database to make a final decision of placing him into the ACMO - Assistant Chief Medical Officer - position. She doesn't have any doubts at the moment and decided to recommended him for the position.

Leanne pulled out a closed box with a hollow pip and left it sitting on her desk. She hit her combadge, "Doctor Hart, please report to my office as soon as you can. Bowen out."

She looked over at Barbara's and Yvette's database to find a good reason for the promotion. Her both nurses have good conducts. One having a strong leadership and experience skills. Leanne has been confident with the way Barbara works and is satisfied to make the rank change. The other one, Yvette, has gained some experience. She has been considered a fine line between being new and being a regular. There is a question of whether she should get the promotion or not. Two good reasons - good conduct and length of time.

Doctor Hart entered her office within five minutes of her call. "Congradulations. I heard that you are now a Lieutenant-Commander." He smiled at her with a boyish smile.

"Thanks, I wasn't looking for sympathy. Have a seat, Ensign."

He frowned, knowing that she doesn't call him by rank much. "Is everything okay?" Jason took a seat and folded his hands in his lap. He studied her face expression as he wondered why she called him here.

She picked up the box and handed it to him. After he opened the box, "Congradulations, Lieutenant...Junior Grade."

"Oh my. Thank you, ma'am." He removed the pip and placed it on his collar next to the solid one. "Mind if I ask what the reason is?"

"Experience, some respectful consideration, and one more thing that will be a big responsibility."

He placed the empty box on her desk and leaned back, "What is it?"

"I would like you to fill in a new spot...new title to sickbay...as my Assistant Chief Medical Officer. Will you accept this position?"

His eyebrows shot upwards as he opened his mouth and closed it. Then, he did a smirk of his mouth, "I would like that very much. Yes, I would do that as I like to be in charge for awhile."

"We are about to have two new crewmembers to work in sickbay soon. I will have a set of guidelines soon on what needs to be done as an ACMO. In the meantime, I'm promoting two nurses up one rank. And another thing, you will be under probation for a month as the ACMO, to see how things go with the duties. Understood?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Congrats again...you are dismissed." Leanne watched as Doctor Hart leave the room. She hit her combadge, calling for her two nurses into the office.

"Hello, Doctor Bowen," Barbara said in a warm voice, as she walked through after the doors opened. "You wanted to see me?"

"Yes, have a seat. I'm waiting for the other nurse to..."

"You called me, Doctor Bowen?" Yvette said as she walked through.

"Yes, have a seat, too."

Leanne pulled out two closed boxes and handed one to each one of them. "These are your promotions...congradulations. It was based on length of service as well as conduct. I'm proud of you two to be a good asset to work under me in sickbay."

"Oh, my!" Yvette said as if she opened a present. "Thank you so much."

Nurse Tarange nodded her head with a smile, "Thank you, Doctor Bowen. I really appreciate it."

"Not a problem. I want you to know that we have two crewmembers coming soon...an addition to our sickbay. Nurse Tay'ork is a Vulcan and she will be working with you. She has been a nurse for awhile but not longer than Barbara. Well, congrats again...you are both dismissed."

"Yes, ma'am," they both replied almost the same time and turned to leave her office at once.

Another memo came in. It appears to be another mission that requires the medical department's attention. Maybe I'll go for this one's mission to the planet, she thought as she continued to read the information sent by the Captain as a heads-up.
