Mission:
The Forests of Mythraeli
Location: Holodeck 3
[Holodeck 3]
ON
Samantha had worked carefully with the lounge manager to create a fun setting for a crew party to celebrate the end of two unusual missions.
The holodeck was set up to look like a carnival. A large pavilion held tables full of food and places to sit and eat. A parquet floor was set-aside with a jazz band for dancing. In the distance were rides and a lake with boats for sailing or canoeing.
She hoped it would provide enough variety for everyone.
Now, dressed in a yellow and red sundress she waited for the rest of the crew to arrive.
Kyt arrived, in a Bajoran civilian jumper, slightly better form-fitting than standard fleet uniform. She looked about, and was immediately confused at the surroundings. "I was under the impression this was a party." Kyt said, dryly.
"It is," Sam said, walking up to her. "We start with dinner. Dancing can follow, or there's a carnival, boats. Dinner will be replaced by a bar and snacks when everyone's done. I wanted to have more than just drinks in the lounge."
"Dancing requires a dancing partner." Kyt said. "Mind you, I haven't gone boating since our group got stranded on Delasi IV, at the end of the Dominion war, 2385."
"Two good points. But, as there will be a large number of people here, it shouldn't be a problem. There will be many who come without partners."
Kyt nodded. She sat in one of the chairs, and waited.
Leroy walked into the holosuite, dressed in a OD green tank top, and a black pair of slacks. He didn't wear any insignia or rank, but just kind of looked around. "It's rather slow here isn't it Ma'am?" he said spotting the Captain.
"People are just arriving. It'll pick up," Sam assured him."How are you doing?"
"Feeling better, the doc knows what she's doing." Looking back over the spread he sighed. "I have a bad feeling about this, something terrible always happens after one of these parties Ma'am, and we've both seen that."
Jerry walked in and sat down, still shaken by a pair of planets that made him realize just how little he really knew about his abilities. He tried to ignore them. But they were there nonetheless. And the blow of being taken from Chief to Assistant hurt even more. He just hadn't been himself lately. Sitting here, alone, in a corner, he looked around and, well, was feeling pretty sorry for himself. Images flitted across his mind, none of them pleasant. He glanced towards the Captain, knowing that Mangalia had her attention, so he didn't need to protect himself from her reading him.
Ronnie walked in, dressed in a pair of velvet pants and a lacy top. She wasn't sure what she'd expected, but this wasn't it. The setting reminded her a lot of something she'd seen in an old movie from the mid 20th Century.
Spotting Jerry, she sat down next to him. "Hi."
O'Connor looked up at her, with a sardonic half-smile. So, here she was, the one who'd been his subordinate and now was his superior. He was acting a lot drunker than he was in front of her, but that, like many things, was an act he could punch through quickly, if need be. She looked good. Maybe a little too good. But then again, she was thinking, there wasn't silence. That, at least, was good for him. Ever since Turkana IV, he'd been off his game - actually, he'd been just plain off. But who knew if that would change any time soon?
"Hey. Come to tell me you got another promotion? Or I got another demerit or six?"
Ronnie glared at him. If he wasn't such a jerk she might actually,,, Well, nevermind. "No. I'm here because I want to be friends. But I see you're not interested." Sometimes, like tonight, she wondered why she tried to be friends with the other scientist.
Erin was the next to arrive, dressed in a sleeveless leather vest and baggy cotton pants with hide boots, Kazon-style.
''Wow.'' She commented, looking around, impressed. ''Nice spread.''
"Thank the lounge manager. She put a lot of work into this party," Sam said. She was playing the part of hostess and official greeter. "I like your outfit."
Erin grinned. ''Thanks. I'm not one for the formalities, as such.'' She returned the compliment and went to get herself some wine, mingling on the way.
Kyt watched Jerry with faint traces of amusement. She contemplated giving him a good swift uppercut, to get him into the spirit, but wasn't sure how that would go over. She decided to refrain.
Noelle walked in and took in the atmosphere. It was her first official function aboard the ship. Her long hair hung down her back in long loose curls. She looked around looking for a familiar face but not really seeing anyone. She found a central place and got a glass of tea.
Doctor Bowen came in right behind a female marine, wearing light brown slacks and a silk blue shirt with a 'v' shape in the front. A necklace laid around her neck, given to her by her parents as a gift from graduating medical school. The necklace was made out of a fine gold and it carried a caduseus, a symbol of medicine. She decided to wear it proudly. Besides her good looks, her hair was braided into a pony tail and tied upwards on the back of her head. Not very many have seen her with her hair up, but she figured that it will bring the best out of her. Earlier, she was happy to have received the hollow pip and a promotion to Lieutenant-Commander in the Captain's ready room. A celebration here will announce it, she thought.
At the table, Leanne picked up a glass of champagne. Just one glass only, she reminded herself as she doesn't trust alcohol much. She picked up some crackers and colby cheese, placing it on a small plate, and moved to take a seat.
