Sam finished writing her last report and sent it off. Finally. She hated writing reports, but it was a 'necessary evil' of being a Captain. There were, however, a few perks as well. One being the people she got to work with. That reminded her tht she had one piece of business to take care of.

"York to McGraw. Could you please meet me in my ready room?"

Randy stopped short of walking out of the turbolift. "McGraw here, Ma'am. Yes Ma'am, on my way." Turning around and settling in for the ride, he told the computer, "Bridge."

After a few moments, the doors opened, depositing him at the bridge. He walked over to the Ready Room, and hit the chime.

"Come in," Sam said. When she saw the Ensign, she smiled. "Have a seat. I sent you a copy of my report. Your information was very timely. It helped explain the neural implants. So thank you. How are you doing?"

"Having just gotten cleared for duty, I am doing a lot better." He smiled slightly as he took a seat. "As far as the information, it was sheer dumb luck that we happened to run into the same group of Orions that are working around this sector."

"Definitely. But sometimes fortune favors the foolish -- not that I'm calling you foolish," she said with a grin. "Still, I"m glad things worked out as well as they have. I'm glad you're fit for duty. We may haev some trouble leaving this sector. The Mercenaries aren't very friendly. I may need you and your men before we're out of here."

Randy chuckled. "I think its supposed to be that fortune favors the bold. We will be ready to take out anyone who stands in the way of our leaving. I still have enough fighters to rain on any mercenaries parade, never fear Captain."

"Oh, I'm not worried. If I were, you wouldn't be getting this." She handed him a box with one hollow pip inside.

Randy looked down, and was speechless. "I, um, wow....."

Sam laughed cheerfully. "Congratulations, Lieutenant."

Randy popped the pip onto his collar. "Well, I can say that I have even more incentive not to fail, I guess. Thank you, Ma'am."

"You're welcome," she said. "Now, get your crew ready for... whatever."

"Minus the Osprey, we are already on standby. I think we can handle anything thrown our way." Randy stood up. "Thank you again, Captain. We won't let you down."

Sam stood as well. "Thank you, Lieutenant. "And good luck."
