Mission: Peace, or Something Like It
Location: USS Calypso - Operations HQ & Cargo Bay
Timeline: Current

[USS Calypso - Operations HQ & Cargo Bay]

"Their right on schedule..." Samantha said as she watched the console in front of her. The clock had turned to 2100 hours and as soon as it happened the convey leaving the Alliance Security Force building in City of Nas left the building and headed for the main road leading out of the town.

"What kind of numbers are we looking at Chief?" Morgan asked as she approached the chair in which Chief Gates was sitting in.

"It looks like five heavy armored vehicles. The first one and last one in convey seem smaller than the others. Their carrying no more than four soldiers each. The second and third are the ones carrying the bodies by the looks of it as I am not picking up more than five life signs in each. The last one is carrying at least ten soldiers. It looks like they might be expecting trouble." Samantha explained.

"Well, if everything goes according to plan they won't even know that the bodies are missing until they reach the mountain base." Morgan said.

"Let's hope." Samantha added.

"How long till they leave the town and the security gird?"

"At their current rate of speed it shouldn't be more than 15 minutes." Samantha responded.

"James did you catch that?" Morgan asked.

"I got it. The transporter is ready to beam the bodies up as soon as they set outside that security gird that they have in place around the town." James responded.

"Good. The sooner we get them aboard the less of a chance of something going wrong." Morgan took a seat next to Samantha and began working on the console in front of her.

The team remained silent for the next 15 minutes while they observed the convoy making its way through the town and headed for the main road out of town.

"Alright, their just left the city limits. We should be able to beam the bodies up at any moment now." Samantha said from her station.

"James, make it happen." Morgan added.

"I'm trying but I can't seem to get a lock on the caskets. It seems that they have some type of personal shielding devices on the trucks. I can't seem to lock onto the convoy at all." James responded.

"Damn!" Morgan said. "Keep trying, we need to find a way around it." She looked over at Samantha. "Any suggestions?"

"If we had the frequency of the devices we could disable them but we don't." Samantha said. She didn't look at Morgan as she was focused on what was being displayed and trying to think of a way to disable those devices.

"How long would it take us if we began running through the scale right now?" Morgan asked.

"More time than we have." Samantha quickly responded.

"Do it anyway, it can be our Plan C." Morgan ordered.

"What is plan A and B?" James asked.

"I don't know yet but we have less than two hours to come up with something otherwise this mission will be a failure." Morgan responded.

"No pressure at all." James said with a chuckle.

For the next couple of minutes the team worked in silence as they tried to find a way around the shielding that was preventing them from transporting the bodies out of the trucks.

"We have incoming!" Samantha announced.

"What do you mean?" Morgan asked as she stood up and looked over at the screen that Samantha was working on.

"There is something incoming on our convoy. I can't tell if they are friendly or not but they are quick. I would say some type of fighters." Samantha explained.

Neither Samantha nor Morgan said anything as they watched the screen. Whatever it was that was approaching the convoy was pretty quick and there was total of three of them. The question if it was friendly or not was soon answered as the fighters opened fire on the convoy.

"Well, that answers that question. Are they Coalition?" Morgan asked.

"No, it doesn't seem like it. I would say whoever it is that they are the same group that took the Captain hostage." Samantha answered.

"That's strange. Mercenaries don't usually come back for their dead. There is something else going on here." Morgan said. She sighed as she took her seat back and leaned back in the chair.

"Morgan! I have a lock." James said with excitement in his voice.

"Beam them up now!" Morgan ordered as she jumped up again and looked at the screen. "What happened?"

"Don't know Lieutenant. The attackers could have knocked out the devices that were preventing us from beaming up the bodies." Samantha theorized.

"Do you have them James?" Morgan asked.

"I have them." James responded as he stood there looking for the console at the two body caskets sitting on the cargo bay transporter.

"Good. I will let lieutenant Tovan know." Morgan said as she turned to head towards her office.

"Better lucky than good." Samantha said.

"I suppose." Morgan smiled and stepped into her office. They were lucky to be able to beam the bodies up to the ship. If it wasn't for the attack on the ground they could have missed their chance completely.
