OLD:

Jennifer awoke as the transporter dropped her into a brig bed. She looked around and was confused. "Where am I?"

ON:

Several hours had passed, and still no one had come by with any answers. Jennifer had gotten her strength back, and had started looking the chamber over. It wasn't unheard of people escaping from these places, and she still had her tools and weapons on her, but it wouldn't look too good for her to break out. Instead, she tapped her chest, the comm badge chirping to her.

-^-Corporal Guntold to Major Raine, and Lieutenant Jaxara, could you meet me in the brig by chance?-^-

"Lieutenant Jaxara is not available." The computer noted.

"What do you mean Lieutenant Jaxara isn't available? If she isn't here,who's the next highest Security Officer on board?" Jennifer wasn't panicked,but she didn't like the fact that she was stuck here and had no one to talk to.

"Lieutenant Junior Grade Myrna Lire is occupied with another prisoner. Chief Warrant Officer Winchester is currently in Brig Cell 17. Please specify which Ensign you wish to contact. For an available list, please refer to the nearest available terminal." The computer noted.

"The nearest terminal is half a room away!" Jennifer cried out. She was angry, but she called her self by breathing in deeply, holding it, and letting it out slow. "Fine, is anyone else available to talk? Or can one of the Security Officers almost done? I want some answers!"

Samantha walked into the brig and nodded to the security officer on duty to let her in to see the Corporal. Damon and Leo were close behind.

"Hello, Corporal Guntold," Sam said. "What can you tell us of the recent mission and how you ended up here?"

"Jennifer looked over and a smile broke across her face. She tried to leap forward to envelope the Captain in a hug, but bounced off the force field holding her in the brig. "Cap-" she began, then as she bounced backwards it turned to "Ow!" Rubbing her face, she just looked at Sam and nodded. "I was on the ground, keeping those Mercenaries away from my people, and when the fight died I was hit with something and woke up here." Jennifer shrugged, there wasn't much she could tell them.

"You were at a civilian complex," Sam said. "And several civilians were killed. Corporal Shintaku said she's the one who transported you here."

"One or two may have been my fault Ma'am, but I aimed for the shoulder, or the leg. I put them down, but I didn't kill them with malice," Jennifer said looking at the Captain. "When we were attacked from behind, THATS when I attacked with malice."

"There was no mention of being attacked from behind," Sam said. "Perhaps you should start from the beginning?"

"Yes Ma'am," she said looking around the room. "Lieutenant, I'm not going to bite, you can come closer to listen to what I have to say."

Leo smiled at this and stepped forward, listening as she told of taking a position, and of taking the shots she thought was necessary. Then of the Merc patrols coming up from behind them, and a real fight starting. Taking notes, he looked up at some of the key points. "Guntold, did you see Gunny Kyt at any time during this encounter?"

"Yes Sir, he was fighting right along with us, but letting myself and Corporal Shintaku take command of the situation." Stepping back, she sat on the bed and rubbed her back. "I don't know what happened after the fight, but it was quick and bloody. Like I said, I blacked out when I got hit with something in the back, and woke up here. Is there a chance I can get out of here?"

"You've been accused of unprovoked assault on civilians leading to their death. Until we can get to the bottom of this, you'll need to remain here. Corporal Shintaku may be joining you once she gets out of sickbay. We are still reviewing the Gunny's involvement in all this."

She looked to Leo and Damon. "I want formal statements from all involved. This is going to take some investigating."

"Yes Ma'am," Jennifer said down trodden. She had hoped that perhaps she would be let go, and confined to quarters. She didn't like the brig, but it would have to do for now.

Damon nodded as he frowned. "You have the full support of the Marine department. Any resource you need we will accommodate."

Sam smiled. "Thank you. I want to do this as quickly and fairly as possible.' She looked at Jennifer. "If all goes well, w'll have this resolved by tomorrow."
