The "Hole" View

Sheridan approached the opening in the deck with interest... This must be tremendously important to have such a configuration, And this needed to be explained to him. The view was stunning as it's design had inspired many of the crew to view it. He was seeking out it's creator Lieutenant York, the brilliant Scientist to discuss the ships newest landmark...

Samantha was watching the engineers as they finished off the hole in the floor of the main science lab. All they had left was the pole near one side and the railing to keep people safe. She heard yet another person walk over to where she stood. She turned around and spotted Lieutenant Sheridan.

"Hi," she said as he got closer.

"Hello, How are things going?"

"Very well. We should be able to start planting tomorrow," she said with a smile to the XO. "Once the railing's up, the engineers will be done and the botanists can start."

"What exactly are you planning on growing here?"

"Trees," Sam replied. "The arboretum is for the crew to enjoy. This is for the botanists to grow trees for experimentation. They can try new hybrids or run experiments. Every other lab is too short for trees. Thus, we have the hole here. They can check the roots and trunk from the botany lab and the leaves and upper branches from here."

"It has created a lot of traffic here, I'm sure the crew will love it. Adds tranquility To the department. Has everything else been going smoothly?"

"So far. The computers are all set up. The labs are almost done. Tomorrow we start planting the arboretum," Sam listed.

John nodded, "Outstanding, we have something here that we can certainly brag about. Well I'm off to the bridge. I'll return and look forward to our Trees appearing soon."


"Yes, you and the Commander definitely need to come see the arboretum when it's finished in a few days. The plans so far look great." She walked with the XO to the door. "Thanks for stopping by, Lieutenant."
