[USS Calypso - Holodeck - Holo-novel - Winter Fortress]
The small missile like vehicle moved through the water at unbelievable speeds. Inside of it was James laying flat on his back, each hand holding a joystick that controlled this rather quick underwater one man vehicle. He was dressed in a black sneaking suit. His eyes focused on the screens located at the ceiling of the vehicle.
"Ghost, can you hear me...?" There was a male voice that came through the communication speaker. The voice echoed through the inside of the vehicle.
"Loud and clear, Colonel... Do you mind telling me what is going on now?" James or as he was better known in this simulation Ghost asked of the voice.
"Sorry for all the secrecy but this is a red priority mission. At 1700 hours we received an intelligence report from a field agent located at an outpost in Bering Sea. It seems that a group calling themselves Sons of the Patriots has taken over a US Military Nuclear Disposal Facility."
"What are their demands...?"
"They want 100 billion dollars by 0600 hours. Otherwise, they will use the active warheads to destroy major cities across the United States and Russia. I'm sure I don't have to tell you what that means. They have also stated that if they detect any attempt to take the base over by force that they will fire the missiles, which is why we are sending you in."
"This is a sneaking mission. You will have to obtain all of your equipment and weapons as you come across them. Washington can't have you leaving evidence that you were there. You mission is to penetrate the terrorist defenses, and eliminate the threat."
"You make it sound easy..."
"We are fully aware that it won't be an easy task, but this is what you were trained for Ghost. If you fail to make contact with us by 0500 hours Washington has approved a nuclear strike that will completely wipe the facility off the face of the Earth." There was a brief pause. It seemed the news had gone from bad to worse in matter of seconds.
"But don't worry; it's not all bad news. This is a solo mission, but we might be able to get you some help, at least get you some information. The agent that transmitted the report is still on the base, if you find her she should be able to give you a helping hand." As the voice was talking on one of the screens in the vehicle a picture appeared of what this agent looked like. It was a picture of a female in her early thirties to mid thirties. She has long wavy brown hair and brown eyes. She was very attractive with a pretty face and great body.
"She's pretty."
"And rather deadly, her code name is April."
"The same April that...."
"Yes, the same one. She has been undercover for one a year and a half now. We can't blow her cover at this time so that is why we are sending you in. Try to make contact with her if you can, but stay cautions she needs to remain under cover."
"Understood..." Ghost looked up at the screen showing the outside, and then looked over to another screen which showed the map. He was close to the entrance of the cave. He started to reduce the speed.
"Once you leave the vehicle, we won't be able to communicate. If you should succeed find a way to make contact with us by 0500 hours. Remember you have less than 12 hours to get the job done.
Ghost turned off the engine from this vehicle not wanting to be picked up by the sonar; he allowed the momentum to take him inside the cave entrance and through the tunnel. It took him close to ten minutes to get to where he needed to be. "I'm at the destination. I'm heading out."
"God speed, Ghost..."
Ghost engaged the self-destruct on the vehicle the put on his mask to his stealth suit. He took a few moments before he opened the hatch and exited the vehicle. Water began rushing into the vehicle. It destroyed all of the instruments right away. It was a mix of the cold water, and it just being water. Ghost was away from the vehicle and swimming towards the dock at the far end. He noticed stairs in that area.
As he approached the stairs he moved up slowly poking his head out of the water. He looked around and didn't notice anyone at the stairs. He did notice a guard at the other end. He watched him for a second making sure to get his patrol pattern down. Once he was sure that he had it he moved back under the water and moved towards the stairs.
He slowly exited the water one step at a time pressing his back to the wall as he did so. He came up to the top and looked down to see where the guard was. He had walked down along the storage containers. He ran over to the wall and peaked his head around the corner and there was another guard heading down away from him. He waited for him to turn the corner before he moved down, and when down between the containers.
Then noticed forklift located near the lift, so when the guard moved back down he ran to the forklift and then jumped inside the lift. He quickly pressed the button as the doors closed and headed up. He had laid down towards the back of the lift so no one could see him. As the lift moved up and out of the range of the guards vision he moved towards the center of it kneeling down and waited to reach the top.
