[Transporter Room]

Samantha wanted to make sure everything was okay with the new tarnsporter specialist. So, after her morning reports, she made her way to the transporter room.

When she walked in she was pleased to see that Chief Petty Officer Munro was on duty. "Hi," she said, walking up to him.

James had a little bit too much to drink the night before. It was his way of trying to forget what he almost did. He had hoped that the day would be a nice quiet day, but that soon changed when he noticed the doors open and her step in. He swallowed hard, unsure of what to say or do at the moment. He waved lightly. "Hello..."

"You don't look so good. Rough night?" Sam asked, walking over to the CPO.

James nodded. He sighed as he noticed her in the uniform and the pins on her collar. He already knew who she was. After Morgan and Allison told him after he returned to the lounge. "Is there anything I can help you with Commander?" James asked staying as professional as possible.

Sam raised an eyebrow. "I'm checking a some departments to make sure we're ready for departure. I thought I'd stop by and see how things are going with the transporters."

James nodded. The nervous energy that he had felt earlier that started to disappear, they were staying on topic of work which was helping him feel a lot better. "The transporters are functioning at top efficiency. "

"Good. There may be a need to pull the away team off the planet with little to no notice, so do another check once we reach the Turcana system," she said. He seemed to be doing better, so she kept the subject to business. Although, as commanding officer, she was concerned about all her crew.

"Don't worry, Commander. I was planning on it." James looked up at her from the console and smiled a little bit.

"I know I can count on you," she said, smiling. "Thank you." She turned and once again made for the door.

"Thank you ma'am." James looked down at the console with a bit of a smile. He wasn't sure if he should say anything or not. If she was going to leave it alone maybe he should too, but that wasn't like him. "I'm sorry about the last night, Sam..."

Sam look up at him and smiled. "Not a problem, James." Not sure if she should say more, she hesitated for a moment. "You're always welcome to join Damon and I for dinner." She hoped he would see it as an offer of friendship.

James looked up from the console with a chuckle as he looked at her. "Thank you; I really appreciate your invite, Sam." He found her attractive that much was given, but he had given up on trying on getting her to go out to dinner. First of all she was the commanding officer of the vessel, really wouldn't look good and second she was taken. "I might take you up on it sometimes."

Sam nodded. "I'll leave you to your work. Let Lieutenant Tovan or me know if you need anything." With that Sam turned and walked out of the room.

"I will." James smiled to himself and went back to his work.
