[USS Calypso - Deck 10 - Lounge]

Shalie had been more then relieved when she had finally reached the doors of her new quarters. One of the joys of being on board a large ship was not only the large quarters but only having to share them with one other person. Another bonus, her roommate was yet to be assigned. She breathed a sigh of relief as she dropped her bag on the bed. She looked at the clock and cocked brow in thought. She had a little over an hour before she was going to be meeting the Chief of Ops. With her mind made up she quickly hopped in the shower.

Never being a female with a large amount of maintenance it only took about ten minutes for her to reemerge from the steaming room to gather her clothing. She had easily read the mans interest in her as more curiosity then attraction, which made the situation that much more entertaining. She picked her clothing almost on autopilot opting for a fitted black top and low rise well fitted jean, her standard off duty attire. With her ebony hair in simple waves around her shoulders she exited her quarters and headed for the lounge.

It didn't take long for her to arrive, and in classic Shalie style she was about five minutes early. She spotted and empty table and easily moved to take a seat and wait for Delon to arrive.

After a brief conversation with Morgan and afterwards with James, he had managed to get to his quarters. The meeting in the lounge was definitely not of a professional nature, it was his attempt to learn more about the woman that came aboard. He wanted to satisfy his curious nature about her. There was a feeling that continued to nudge at him, a feeling that she was like him. Someone that wasn't only of one world, but two different ones like him.

After exiting the steamy shower Tovan approached his closet and picked out a very comfortable yet simple outfit for the evening. A plain pair of jeans, a red t-shirt and a pair of black comfortable shoes. As he finished getting ready he glanced at the clock there were only a few minutes till 2100 hours.

His quarters being located one deck above the lounge he headed out into the corridor and then into the lift. A ride took a few seconds and once again he found himself in the corridor. As he entered the lounge the clock read 2100. Right on time. A bit of a smirk appeared on his face as he noticed the woman sitting at a table. She was easy to spot. There weren't many green women running around. He approached the table. "Good evening, Miss Montgomery." Delon greeted his companion for the evening as he took a seat right across from her.

Shalie glanced at the clock just at Delon took is seat. "Well it is good to know that you are punctual...how was your shift?" She asked all the while staying in her relaxed position in the chair. She kept her fingers loosely griping the back of the chair as she slouched backward. She couldn't help but look him over once again. Like most people, she was able to tell more about him based on his civilian dress.

"It's one of my many talents. To be punctual that is." Tovan stated with a bit of a grin on his face as he leaned back in the chair. He was a bit more relaxed now than when he was on duty. It was just the way he operated. All business during his work hours, but he did have another side to him. "It was productive. Lately, we have been just making sure that we have all of the supplies and equipment before departing from the Starbase."

"oooo....such an exciting life you have." Shalie said with a sarcastic grin. She could easily remember her days in Operations and was never more happy then the day she got a position in Engineering. Less paperwork was always a good thing. "Well just thought you should know...only managed to get lost once since you were so nice to help me find my way." She couldn't help but flirt. It was as natural to her as breathing air.

"It might not be the most exciting job on the ship, but someone has to do it. I don't mind the work one bit." Tovan explained as he watched the Orion sitting across the table from him. A bit of a smile showed on his face. "Only once, that is impressive. It looks like you at least have a very decent sense of direction."

Shalie laughed. "Well I only had two other places to find besides the lounge...so I technically got lost half the time." She smiled. She finally leaned forward crossing her arms on the table, her left hand brushing some stray hairs behind her ear. "So I must admit...I am curious about your curiosity...not that I mind small talk of course." She had an amused smile on her face as she spoke.

"Not to worry, you will be navigating your way around this ship like a pro in no time." Tovan leaned forward a little bit. "I don't think you will have much of a choice, your job kind of depends on it."He winked at her as he leaned back in his seat. "You see, from the moment I saw you on the transporter pad I noticed something slightly different about you from any other Orion I have met before. If I had to say I would say that you aren't only Orion..." The bartender cut him off as she approached their table. Tovan ordered Aldebaren Ale. It was strong, but not as strong as the Romulan Ale which at the moment he was craving, but it was illegal.

Shalie ordered her drink, a simple beer was all she was feeling at the moment. She cast a glance over at Delon as he ordered his drink as well. She remained leaning against the table and simple cocked her head to the side slightly. "Is it the black hair that gives it away...I have learned that most Orions are supposed to be red heads." Her smiled was cocky, as the server returned with their drinks. She played with the label around the neck.

As the drinks arrived, Tovan grabbed the glass and took a sip. It was good, but not as good as what he wanted but for the time being it would have to do as he had a bottle in his quarters. After placing the glass back on the table he continued. "It's not only the black hair, but the eyes as well. I have only seen such eyes on one another species and that would be Betazoid." A chuckle escaped him as he watched her. "Oh, I see now. A very exotic pairing."

Shalie took a sip of her beer. She had to admit that he was a lot more observant then most of the males that she had met. She understood his curiosity, in all of her time in space she had never met someone like herself. It was something she both enjoyed and resented at the same time. "You are pretty quick...I will give you that." She smiled as she put the beer back on the table. "Most people I meet know something is different, but Betazoid is far from their first guess."

"It's the scientist in me. Something I had been taught from a very young age is to be observant; you never know what little piece of information can help you in any given situation." Delon didn't disclose any information concerning his physical appearance as it was obvious that he had pointy ears but didn't really match a Vulcan, or a Romulan. "So, if you don't mind me asking what do they usually guess that you are?"

"To be honest I don't think many people care." Shalie said honestly as she took another sip of her beer. "Most just care that I am an Orion...Some part of them knows something is off, but my green skin seems to be enough for most." She smiled a cocky smile. She looked over Delon for a moment almost analytically. "I have a feeling, more of this had to do with you being from two worlds as well." She asked simply taking another dip of her drink.

Devon nodded. "I can't disagree with that assessment. Your physical appearance has a great deal to do with it. An attractive female as you often will attract males simply on the looks, and not often do these males take the opportunity to get to know the greater details that make up each individual. At least that is what I have noticed by observing the human species." Delon had grabbed the glass off the desk. He took a sip than smiled. "It also doesn't help that there are many stories of Orion females and their sexual natures." After taking another sip of the drink he placed the glass back on the table and nodded. "You would be correct. I am a child of two different species. I am aware of one other like me."

Shalie laughed. "Well I would have to agree...most males, not just humans, care more about trying to prove the stories then learning more about me." She toyed with the label on the base of the bottle as she watched Delon. "Which I can't say I mind...Granted most of them never find out." She said with a wink. "Well, consider yourself lucky...I would love to meet someone like me"

Delon leaned forward grabbing the glass and finishing the last sip that had been left in the glass. "Those details that majority of people seem to miss or not pay attention to can speak a lot louder than anything else." He placed the glass down pushing it closer to the middle of the table. "It is a big galaxy, there has to be someone that is like you."

"Breeding maybe." Shalie said with a grin. "But there is more to me then my blood." She drained the remainder of her bottle, and slid it near the empty glass. "With that I can guarantee there is noone else like me." Her tone had the smallest hit of sadness, but she quickly recovered. "So if your curiosity satisfied...or is there more you would like to know?"

There was a sudden raise of his eye brow as he listened to what she had to say. He was intrigued by her history. "I must admit that my initial curiosity has been satisfied, however you have peaked my interested a far more than I expected. But that is something we can satisfy another time."

Shalie cocked her head to the side slightly puzzled by the comment. A smile crossed her lips, "So is the interview over or do you have something else in mind?" She leaned back against her chair as she watched him.

The conversation they were having had come across as an interview now that Delon took a moment to think about it. The whole set up was a way for him to find out more about her and what her history was. Delon just smiled at her. "The interview is over, however the evening doesn't have to be."

"Well that is good to know..." Shalie said with a laugh. "Not that I don't enjoy talking about myself." She adjusted once again in her chair this time leaning her elbow on her now crossed leg. "So since you are the one that reports to duty early tomorrow...what would you like to do now?"

"I can say that you aren't the only one that feels that way. I don't often enjoy talking about myself, which is why I mostly listen and ask the questions." Delon admitted. "Well, I can always show you around the vessel so you don't get lost again. Call it the 'unofficial' tour."

Shalie nodded as Delon spoke. She liked the idea of wondering around, it wouldn't be long before she would need to know every inch of this ship by heart. "I like that idea...I am a little stir crazy to be honest, and I am not looking forward to the idea of going back to my quarters...just yet."

"Let's go than." Tovan responded with a smile and a nod. The two of them got up from their seats and headed out of the lounge and into the corridor. Tovan really didn't have much experience in giving a tour but he was a quick learner. Plus, he knew all of the systems aboard the ship, as well as what was where. It shouldn't be too hard to talk about them.
