Samantha walked into the Counseling Center in search of Erin. She wanted to talk to her about the forthcoming mission.

"Hi," she said when she walked into the outer office. "Is Lieutenant Tal available?"

''She is indeed.'' Erin called, from her office, hearing the captains voice.
''Come on in. What can I help you with?''

"I wanted to stop by and say hi, and talk for a bit," Sam said, following Erin into her office.

''Always nice to have visitors.'' Erin smiled, gesturing towards a chair.
''Please, sit. What did you want to talk about?''

"First, I wanted to apologize for not utilizing you as well as I should," Sam said, taking a seat. "I know that part of your job is to be an advisor to the Captain, but I've been using the Second Officer for that."

Erin shook her head. ''Dont worry about it, I figured you had your reasons.''
''However, I'm always ready to help if you do decide to ask me for advice. Either way is fine by me.''

"Oh, I value your opinion. And you're welcome on the bridge," Sam assured her. "I think I'll have need of you and Nava more on this next mission." She gave Erin a wry smile. "I think Damon will want me to stay on the ship this time round. I seem to be a trouble magnet on away missions. I prefer to think of it as good luck that we get into unusual situations and come out okay."

Erin laughed. ''Unusual situations... thats one way to put it, all right. That says alot for your sense of adventure, captain.''
''So why wll you need Nava's and my help more this mission? A shakedown cruise usually doesnt involve diplomatic or councelling relations. Ay least none that i've ever been on.''
''Also.'' She added with a wry grin. ''The presence of Nava and myself will most likely lessen the chance of any 'unusual situations' arising. Are you sure you can risk that?''

Sam chuckled. "I like to explore caves -- I'm an archaeologist. I tend to get in trouble when I do. Or, I have since joining the Orion. Damon's a bit... protective. I don't think there will be a need to go into caves this time round."

"We've been asked to go to Turkana IV and oversee peace negotiations. Shouldn't be too difficult. I'll have more information when we have our staff meeting tomorrow," Sam said. Then she grinned. "I think it would be nice if we lessen our chance of 'unusual situations.' At least this time."

Erin grinned. ''Oh if you're determined enough I'm sure something along the lines of a cave or some other dark death trap will appear.'' She commented in amusment.
''But you're right, and I'm sure the whole crew would like a more or less straightforeward shakedown cruise."

"I think so. After Tiberius IV, we could use something more straight-forward," Sam agreed. "I'm going to rely on you, Nava and Karma for a lot of this."

Erin shrugged. ''Sounds good, I'll provide whatever help I can.''

"Thanks," Sam replied. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Erin shook her head, then paused. ''Actually, I'm attending the funeral of a freind on mine back home tomorrow. I'd like some time off for that for myself and Lieutenant Mikkola, who's coming with me. Is that all right?''

"That will be fine. I hope everything's okay?" Sam said. "Is Lieutenant Mikkola flying his own shuttle?"

Erin shook her head. ''No, he's not flying. On this flight he's a passenger, rarely enough.'' She smiled dryly. ''And everything's fine, thanks for asking.''

"Oh, by the way, I need you to talk to Lieutenant Jaxara. He has some anger issues he needs help resolving."

The Kazon nodded. ''Certainly, I heard about the outburst. I'll make an appointment with him.''

"Thanks. I hope you can help him control his temper. Between the holomatrix and ghezun problems he doesn't have a good track record."

''I've heard.'' Erin raised an eyebrow. ''By the way- can I hear the breif summary of what happened from someone who was there? I've heard different reports, but you know how rumors tend to be twisted.''

"I wasn't there, but I heard it from Jaxara. With the more recent event, he was upset about the holodeck malfunctions. He walked into Engineering, fired two blanks from his slug thrower into the ceiling, yelled for the Chief Engineer, said his piece and checked himself into the brig."

Erin nodded. ''Sounds like your average set of frayed nerves-an otherwise decent person reaches snapping point. I'll see what I can do.''

"Yes, but when it means an Article 15 procedure, it's a little more than just nerves. He needs to find a better outlet for his frustration."

Erin made a note on a PADD that was lying on her desk.
''Theres a dozen holodeck sinulations for this kind of thing. I'll need his opinion before I choose one though.''

"That sounds great. He's a good officer. He just needs a good outlet for his frustrations."

''I'm sure I'll find something that will suit him. I've dealt with this kind of thing before.'' Erin assured the captain. ''I'll call on him tomorrow.''

"Thanks. I'll let you get back to your work. I'll have more information on the mission as we get closer to Turkana IV." Sam rose. "I appreciate your time."

Erin stood to see the Captain out.
''Not a problem. Any time.''
