Samantha walked into her office after a quick lunch to hear her computer begin to beep. She hurried to her desk and entered her access code to answer the incoming call.

"This is Commander York," she said when the connection was established.

"Commander, this is Admiral Kaye. We need the Calypso to head to Turkana IV."

"Didn't the Federation have a colony there at one point?" Sam asked, trying to remember what she'd heard about the planet.

"Yes, but there was too much political instability for us to keep it there. The two factions were at war and we couldn't work with either of them."

"So why send the Calypso?" Sam asked.

"A group calling themselves The Union has taken over the former colony. They're making great strides towards peace on the planet. We'd like you help facilitate this," Admiral Kaye said. Then she sighed. "We're also concerned that things are progressing too quickly. The Federation has been working with both sides for years. The Union comes in and in a matter of months the fighting has ceased. We want to know why."

Sam nodded. "Understood. Is there anything in particular I need to know?"

"I'll be sending you more information shortly. We'd like you to leave Typhon within 48 hours."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Good luck, Commander. Kaye out." The connected ended and the screen once again displayed the UFP logo.

Turkana IV? Sam sat back, thinking. 48 hours. That wasn't much time. She needed to call a staff meeting.
