Mission: Transitions
Location: Holodeck 1

Alexandria was working out. Most people would call it fighting for her life. That was her definition of working out.

She glowered at her opponent. This time, she was using the work-out program listed as that of Lieutenant Lorne Jaxara.

To her surprise, it was not nearly as simplistic as the standard training protocol. The computer asked her to select a simple close-combat weapon, or to select hand-to-hand combat mode. It also offered an option to switch to projectile, and directed-energy weapons styles.

She selected the Bat'telh, assumed a warrior's position, and waited.

"Wave one begins in 5...4...3...2...1..." The computer noted.

She fought, and she fought. 19 waves of something stuck between a Klingon Warrior, a Japanese Ninja, and a member of the Bolian Warrior tribes. They struck from the air, from water, from the trees, from practically every way.

"Computer. End Program." She instructed.

"Wave 20 begins in 5...4...3...2...1..." The Computer noted.

"Computer! End Program!" She exclaimed.

Assuming a warrior's stance, she noted a much faster and stronger increase in the opponent's overall effectiveness, as she had expected. Every even number wave included such an increase, and every odd wave was an increase in the numerical number of opponents.

"Winchester to Jaxara, I'm going to need a medic in here soon, and I'll need you to security-override the holodeck." She instructed.

"I'm on it, Winchester."Jaxara noted.

Corridor, 5 minutes later.

"Jaxara to the Chief Medical Officer, I'll need someone at Holodeck 1 immediately!" He yelled.

His security override failed. His security override failed again. The holodeck didn't feel like talking with him.

He drew his phaser, aimed at the control console, and fired. This caused the holodeck's computer to cancel it's current program.

He stepped in. Alexandria was laying on the ground. Multiple stab wounds. He recognized the weapon styles. She was playing with his program.

"Jaxara to Security. I'll need the Holodecks cordoned off. Someone call in Engineering. I'm exercising a security prerogative to close these damn things, as they do not respond to security overrides." Jaxara noted.

Within two minutes of the call, Doctor Bowen showed up at the holodeck. Recently, she has been treating one of her co-workers by the name of Doctor Hart. A malfunctioned replicator fired some type of proton beam at him, getting burns to the hands, but it knocked him out good. Before this, she remembers the holodeck incident with the Captain as she calls it a holo-hiccup.

Another holo-hiccup? Leanne wondered as she entered the room. She rushed over to to the wounded woman on the ground. "What the hell?" She looked at the man attending to her. "What happened here?" After bending down to her knees, she opened her medikit, and pulled out the tricorder. She started the scans.

"She was using a workout program. The holodeck safeties failed." Jaxara said. "Once you get her stabilized, and out of here, I'll have this holodeck cordoned off like the others. Then I'm going to yell at the Engineering staff. This should have been enough of a problem that the following two items should have been fulfilled: 1, the Engineering department should have known about such a dangerous issue, and 2, the Holodeck should not be capable of running without such safeties on."

It was rather evident that Jaxara was rather annoyed, but he did not attempt to step closer to Lieutenant Bowen, or the injured woman.

"An accident happened earlier to the Captain as she fell and broke her leg...didn't know that it wasn't fixed." After the scans beeped, "She's in a very bad shape. I need an emergency transporter to get to sickbay right away. Will using the transporter be okay?" She pulled out a hypospray and injected a sedative with a painkiller to her neck. "She's bleeding too much...", she said as she applied pressure. "Surgery is what she needs."

"Who did the paperwork on that? That's a ship security issue. First I'm hearing of it." Jaxara noted. His apparent level of amusement was in the rough area of negative half an infinity. He nodded to Winchester. "You are the Doctor. Is it safe to beam her out of here?"

Leanne shook her head at him as he appears to not know if it is safe. "I'll take the risk," she said with a slight anger and hit her combadge, calling for an emergency transfer. She didn't have time to argue as patients come first.

Jaxara shook his head, as he watched them leave. "How the heck am I supposed to know? I'm a security guard. Not a tech head, or a medic. Some people..." He saw one of the Security officers walk by. "DANIELS! Get me a tech head in here!"

Sickbay

Just as they materialized in sickbay, Leanne shouted at the nurse to help her get Alexandria up on the biobed and prep her for surgery. She removed the soaked gauzes and threw them on the floor. She picked up an osteogenerator and a dermal regenerator, and went to work on several open wounds in her chest and abdomen.

Thirty minutes went by, she explained to her nurse of the medications that were needed for her to recover. With the last scan, she was satisfied that three of her organs were fixed, three broken rib cages, and 5 abdominal veins were put together. "Monitor her every fifteen minutes for two hours...then expand it to 30 minutes for 24."

"Yes, ma'am."

Leanne disposed the surgical instruments and went over to check on Doctor Hart, who was electrocuted by the replicator. She studied his vital information before leaving his side to go back to Alexandria.

Alexandria grumbled, and growled. Those who were unfamiliar with this woman may not necessarily have been encouraged by such sounds. "Kill... Engineering..." She muttered, half conscious.

"Nurse, give her more sedative." The doctor put a hand on her shoulder, "relax, you are in sickbay now...you need to get some rest, miss Winchester. The engineering department is taken care of the situation." I hope, she thought. No more injuries to take care of.

Jaxara walked in, spotted Leanne, and headed towards her immediately. "How is she, Doctor?"

She glared at him, "Stable and unconscious for now...had a major surgery to repair a lot of things that were torn by the Klingon sword. Did the engineers fix the holodeck?" She put her hands on her hips.

Lorne looked down at the woman. There was a distinct note of worry on his face. "The Engineers had better respond to my priority repair request soon. Otherwise, I'm going to have to take my non-holographic sword down to Engineering, and start filling up your bio-beds." He said, shaking his head. "I am glad she is stable. Please keep me posted, ma'am."

She frowned at his remark of the sword. "I will be glad to keep you posted on her situation. I sure would be afraid to visit the holodeck."

Lorne nodded. "It will be fixed. Or it will be destroyed. Either way, it will not be harming another person for a little while I assure you."

"Good...," she took her hands off her hips and whirled around to monitor the patient again. She didn't know what else to say as her mind is busy, thinking of her two critical patients.

Jaxara nodded. "Ma'am." He said, as he left Sickbay. He had an Engineering department to either enlist their assistance in rectifying the programming issues, or abusing them as target practice, for his 'phaser recertification.'
