Samantha sent a message to Ensign Randall McGraw. She'd met him on the firefly, but she wanted to have a more formal meeting where she could learn a little more about her new Wing Commander.

As she wasn't sure when he'd show up, she sat down at her desk and began to read through the huge stack of reports.

Randy had just gotten to his room after seeing to the after OPS maintenance on the firefly. He was starting to unload his duffel, placing a few of the mementos on his desk, when he got the summons to report in to the CO. He sighed and smiling crookedly, set off for the Bridge. Within minutes he was standing outside the CO's office, and he triggered the door sensor letting her know someone was outside.

"Come in," Sam called, signaling for the computer to open the door. When she saw Ensign McGraw she smiled. "Hi. Come in and have a seat. Can I get you something to drink?"

Randy smiled crookedly and took a seat. "I'll have a spicy tomato juice, if you don't mind, Ma'am." He looked around taking in the CO's Ready Room as he waited for the drink. "Kinda nervous now, I don't know why, especially seeing as how we already met, but I guess it's just one of those things that can't be helped, ya know?"

"I understand," Sam said as she got two glasses of spicy tomato juice and set one in front of the Ensign. "I actually started out as Chief Science Officer on the Orion. Now I command her." She shook her head. The chain of events still amazed her. "I promise I don't bite."

She sat down at her desk and took a sip of her drink. "So, tell me a little about yourself, Ensign."

"Well, I started out on the Chimaera as a pilot, and after flying for a year and a half there, I was promoted to the Wing XO. I know I am a little young to be a Wing Commander already, but I had a little help from an old family friend, one who has followed my career, even while in the Academy." Randy took a drink and set the glass down, sighing a bit. "Please don't take it the wrong way that I point out my benefactor in such a manner. I have worked hard, and I received high marks in all my courses at the Academy. I just happened to have someone who looked out for me, as long as I did work hard and try my best to improve not only myself, but those around me."

"That's not a problem. It's good to have someone you can rely on, someone who can help you and support you. It says a lot that he believes in you enough to be your benefactor," Sam assured him. "And you wouldn't be Wing Commander if you didn't merit the position."

Randy grimaced slightly at the praise. "Well it's just that I feel like I kinda jumped ahead of people. It isn't every day that an Ensign receives the Wing Commander position on board a Galaxy Class ship. I just don't want to go and start stepping on toes, but I will do the job to the best of my ability."

"That's all I ask," Sam assured him. "And you won't be stepping on toes as long as you don't try and tell someone else how to do their job -- something I highly doubt you'll do. So we shouldn't have a problem."

She sipped her drink and contemplated her new CAG. "What ideas do you have for the fighter wing?" she asked.

"Well I noticed that the wing has a name, but not the individual ships. If it is ok with you, I would like to name them from Greek Mythology? I know I have some leeway as the CAG, but I would like to ensure that they are fitting with the Ship's name as well." He took a drink of his juice and then continued. "I was thinking of naming my fighter the Ajax or Leonidas, personally." A slight grin danced on his lips as he told her what he was thinking.

Sam nodded. "Come up with a list and we'll go over it. You should definitely have a say in what your ships are named."

He smiled and told her the names. "Leonidas, Ajax, Achilles, Ulysses, Heracles, and Hector for the Razors. As far as the Valkyrie's, I am thinking the Chimaera, Charybdis, Hydra, and Manticore. I am willing to change of few of them to feminine names as well should we get any female pilots in."

"I'm iffy on the Leonidas, only because of the Terran Leonid meteor showers -- strange, I know," she said with a grin. "The Chimaera and Charybdis are out, I'm afraid, because they're the names of task forces in Theta Fleet. Other than that, though, I have no problem."

"Ok, how about Nyx, Atropos, Lachesis, and Clothos, for the Valkyrie Fighters?"

Sam thought about that for a moment... "That works."

Randy thought about it for a moment. "If you are iffy on the Leonidas, then how about the Tisiphone instead?"

"That, too, works." Sam jotted the names down on her PADD. "I'll make sure they get in the records. You can see to getting the names on the ships."

"Roger that, Ma'am. Was there anything else?"

"No. I like to get to know my senior staff," Sam replied with a smile. "It makes it easier for me when I know who I'm working with."

Randy smiled and nodded. "I do understand that well, Ma'am. I will get right on the names. They will all be ready by tomorrow. When do you usually have the staff meetings?"

"When I need them." Sam gave him a cheeky grin. "I don't believe in unnecessary meetings."

Randy chuckled. "I think that we will get along just fine then, Ma'am. I think I am going to like it here just fine."

"Good. I, too, think you'll fit in just fine." She gave him a friendly smile. "You're free to go."

Randy Stood and saluted. "Thank you Ma'am. I'm glad to be here and be of service." With that said, he turned and exited the Ready Room.
