Catching up on the Orion

The first thing Sam did after showering and changing was to go to her ready room and scan through the reports. There were a LOT of reports. More than she had time to read at the moment.

Apparently while she was on Tiberius IV the ship had discovered an infestation of ghezuns, a type of large vole, on the ship. The resulting damage was... disturbing.

"York to Sheridan, can you come to my ready room please?" She needed to find out from John what, exactly, was going on.

It took several minute for the word to reach him, he appeared at the CO's door and walked through. "Yes Ma'am, sorry for the delay."

"Come in and have a seat. I've read the reports..." It took her a full day to get through the reports -- and she hadn't been gone that long. "What can you tell me about the lounge getting shot up, the ghezun hunt and spacing nearly a hundred of these creatures?"

John came in and took a seat, "Apparently we have been infested by large voles. They began by destroying the power grid of the vessel through accesses in the Jefferies tubes. This in turn caused catastrophic failure in the power systems stranding crew and creating havoc through the entire ship including communications. In the process of wrangling these varmints the lounge and several other locations on the ship took damage."

That's what she was afraid of. What the reports indicated. "All right. Not a good way to start a new command, is it?" Sam asked wryly. "At least it's nothing we could have predicted in advance." She sighed and rubbed a hand across the back of her neck. "Anything else I need to know?"

"We need to get this ship in dock Ma'am, for one I'm not sure we got all of the voles. I fear to think what they may be chewing through now."

"Good point," Sam said. "I'll contact Starfleet Command and see what they want us to do once we reach Typhon. Thanks for the update," she said with a smile. "That will be all for now."
