Mission: Food for the Gods
[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
He [John] didn't waste any time and headed for the slide to go down. He activated the flashlight on his wrist and went in first, it was going to be an interesting ride.
[NEW]
"Not the most dignified way to travel." Spartacus noted and knew how to 'move' in skirts and was confidant she could 'land with some dignity.'
'Space travel can't always be dignified,' laughed Aenar as he clutched the pattern booster to his chest, and made his way to the slide.
When John got to the bottom, the speed of the ride forced him to come out in a roll. Once he was out of the roll, he took out his firearm and swept the room and not seeing any hostile, he took up a guard position near the tunnel ride.
Thy'las walked over to the tunnel, and the Major disappeared, she took a position in it. "That was rude." She commented, before smiling. "A gentleman would have at least offered a lady to go first. I guess, the Major, is planning on having all the fun." Thy'las smirked, before winking at the others, and proceeding downward.
Thy'las reached the bottom, taking a moment to look around, before focusing on the Major with a smile and nod. She took a few steps forward, before taking another look around, "This is not what I was expecting." She whispered, looking back to John. "I was expecting a bit more archaeological not industrial."
TAG JOHN
Having slid to the bottom, Aenar got to his feet and hefted the pattern booster into position. 'That was much smoother than I anticipated ...' He looked around the room and pulled out his tricorder.
'Recent activity - looks like this area is live rather than abandoned,' the Bajoran opined after taking a quick scan. The Security types must have surmised that already he thought to himself.
TAG THY'LAS / JOHN
It wasn't a dignified way to get down to the bottom, and less so in the full skirts they wore. Sam waited for ten minutes exactly, during which time she found a cardboard box she straightened out to sit on. "Well, let's see what's down there," she said, carefully placing the cardboard on teh slide.
"I'll keep an eye on things up here," Jayna said. "To make sure you don't have any unwelcome company."
"Thanks," Sam smiled. "Wish us luck." With that, she sat as gracefully as she could and pushed off, sliding down into the darkness.
The ride was a little faster than Sam would have liked as the slide spiraled downward. She had to work to keep centered. Fortunately, the slide straightened out long enough for her to slow enough to stop. She put the cardboard off to the side, stood, and straightened her skirts, then she waited for the other two to join her.
"Area secure Commodore", John said to Sam. "There were no hostiles when we got here."
"Thank you, major," Sam said. "Good to know they weren't waiting for us. I hope that means they don't know we're coming."
The doctor hesitated at the entrance of the slide. He took a deep breath. “Here goes for nothing,” Dwight said, getting himself settled on a cardboard and moved his bag to his lap. He went down at a speed he wasn’t expected, causing a near anxiety to him until it became a smooth ride in a straight position. He stood up and straightened his clothes. His bag was reposition.
"Welcome, doctor," Sam said, smiling.
Thy'las walked back to the group, moving with a bit of elegance while simultaneously making little sound with each step, before approaching John and Sam. "Look's like a supply house. Not at all what I was expecting down this deep." She turned and gestured further. "I haven't seen much, but from the dust, it looks like someone has moved things around recently so we may not be alone down here."
"This is what I was expecting," York replied. "I'm not surprised that there are others down here, either. They received a large number of baskets today, from what Jayna said, in addition to Ronnie and Shan. There had to have been people down here to receive them. The question is, are they living beings or not." She smiled, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Let's find a place to hide the transporter buffers and go have a look."
"I agree, I thought we would have a greeter at leastt since we accepted their ... invitation." Spartacus had her skirts back in place and looking about. "Don't worry Samantha, I have your back." Spartacus assured and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Lead on."
Sam chuckled. She wasn't so sure the others would agree with Teenah. She nodded to Thy'las and John. "Let's see what's outside."
Aenar noted the conversation and continued to work his tricorder. There was still some residual interference from the massive dampening field in place, but he noted it was much less down below the surface. 'That interference we've been experiencing ... looks like it was intended to block out knowledge of this underground ... network, or complex. Whatever you want to call it.'
"That makes sense," York replied. "I'm curious why they don't want us to know they're here." She continued to walk to the nearest door. She stopped to allow John and Thy'las to check before walking through, out of courtesy. She would have preferred to just walk through, but they wouldn't appreciate her going off like that.
John kept his weapon loose in its holster as he opened the door, scanning the area ahead of him and the floor, ceiling, and walks immediately near the door. He stepped forward cautiously and motioned that it was ok to follow.
Sam nodded and followed.
