Mission: Food for the Gods
Location: Newmark Family Quarters

OLD

"Your turn at food is ready when you are." He whispered and gave her a wink.

NEW

Nhallia nodded absently. "I'll be there as soon as we've fallen asleep," she murmured. Aurea was already getting to that sleep-eating stage. She had likely been as tired as she was hungry to begin with. She'd be full asleep momentarily.

Sure enough it was only another minute or so before Aurea was relaxed into sleep and letting go of her latch.

Nhallia shifted her up onto a shoulder and rubbed her back gently to burp her. She rested her cheek against Aurea's head and closed her eyes. These were perhaps her favorite moments of the day, Aurea resting quietly in her arms after nursing. She'd never felt like this before in her life, had never imagined this kind of peace and quiet joy.

Noting the look upon her face Newmark smiled and walked away, he would wait for her at the table. This is the way that he hoped things would work out; happily married and a child.

How had he become such a blessed man.

After a few little burps, it seemed like Aurea was settled for a bit and Nhallia gently laid her down in her crib. When the girls had set up the nursery while she was on Risa, they had gotten gender-neutral furniture in white and waited until the baby was born to know how to really decorate. Knowing how much Nhallia hated the 'cutesy' baby-stuff, they had gone another way, picking the softer, muted tone of dusty rose rather than bright pink for the main color of the room. It was relaxing and soft, and Nhallia was surprised at how much she liked it. It seemed just right for little Aurea and her Maisha rather hoped she'd like the color as she got older.

With the baby down for the count, Nhallia slipped out to the main room, hitting the lock open function on the door so she would hear the slightest sound from the nursery.

"Mmm, smells good. Thank you, Baba," she said as she finally gave Verdeath a kiss on the cheek while she moved to her place at the table.

Newmark rose and moved with his wife to seat her; as he often did, he still loved the woman he met, dated and married. The only change is he had to share her with their bundle of joy; a fair exchange by all accounts, and being he loved her he did not change his courting of her while married. He did this to show he did love her and keep her convinced it was a good idea to marry him. A little spoiling is fun.

"Nothing too good; gotta keep my Ladies happy, that is my job as Baba right?"

"And you do it so well," Nhallia laughed as she reached for her fork. She really was famished.

"I love you, Nhallia," Newmark said just out of the blue.

Nhallia paused and looked up at him. "I love you, too," she said with a smile.

"I have discovered where I have been remiss in my duties as Baba." Newmark suggested.

Twirling pasta onto her form, Nhallia frowned in confusion. "Remiss? I don't think so; what do you think you've missed?" she asked.

"Your body is working itself hard. I foresee the need for a Maisha Body Massage?" He grinned.

Nhallia smiled around the mouthful of pasta and then shrugged as she swallowed. "I feel great, actually. Never better."

"Then I need not add any more to the count of Massage zones that we have yet to clear." Newmark smiled. "They will give my fingers a rest."

Smiling at him, Nhallia reached her free hand out to take his, twining her fingers into his six. "Well, I wouldn't want to strain or stress you," she said.

"For you..." He kissed her hand. "All the best anytime."

From the other room, the slightest of whimpers caused Nhallia to jump up. She pushed away her already empty plate and slipped her hand out of his, not even conscious that she was doing so.

"Again the New Leader has spoken." Newmark commented with a grin. "Now I understand those texts and lessons about how New Mothers are all about the baby and the Parents need to adjust accordingly."

A second later, Nhallia was at the crib. "Oh, dear, what's the matter?" she murmured.

As if in answer, Aurea squirmed and fussed, including drawing her knees up to her chest.

Nhallia scooped up the baby and settled her up on her shoulder, rubbing her back and patting softly, reading the signs of too much gas build-up. She shushed gently and apologized for not burping more thoroughly before.

Newmark cleared the dishes; he was becoming used to this; he just dread when he decided it was an okay time to have the Little One Babysat while he takes Nhallia for some time with Adult conversation and maybe even a dance or two?

Eyes closed, Nhallia swayed and sang quietly. Her usual lullaby was on old folk song, and she crooned the words gently. "Oh Dear, what can the matter be? Dear, Dear, what can the matter be? Oh Dear, what can the matter be? Johnny's so long at the fair..."

Newmark knew then he was going to be reading for a bit; Aurea would be fussy for about ten more minutes before Nhallia would be convinced the baby was down for a bit. The soft voice of the Lead Singer for her Jazz trio the baby might not know how special her lullaby are and that people would enjoy having Nhallia sing them to sleep as well.
