Mission: What Lies Beneath?
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: continued

[OLD]

Sam turned off the screen. "First, we'll scan the surface, see if we can find any evidence of either ship or crew. Then we'll send a small team down to the planet where the ship was supposed to land. This team will only check the immediate area. As there are no signs of a crash, it is logical to assume the ships landed on target."

[NEW]

"Are there any questions?" Sam asked.

Damon spoke up again, his hand tapping lightly on the board table’s surface. "Just to be clear, the planets in this system haven't even gone through a thorough survey yet. It looks to me like these OreCo guys are running blindly to get first dibs on an untapped source of raw goods. I might understand how in their haste they might have overlooked something, similar to what happened on Tiberius Ten. But what about the team that was sent after for them? They wouldn't have been in such a rush, and they would certainly be trained for this sort of thing. I would be less concerned about the miners disappearing than the Officers sent to find them."

Ted thought for a moment while waiting for Sheridan to finish what he was saying. "Nuts for protein...breads like makava bread...nut butters are always good." He leaned forward. "You'd be surprised what you can do with almond butter. There are some very tasty one-time soup bowls in the holds. Not great, but they're still tasty from time to time. I like the oriental noodle. Maybe some teas. I can put them in canisters and you can have tea with lunch instead of water. Certain fruits like apples, oranges, moba fruit, or berries. I would greatly stress soy beans or the beef soup for anyone who is allergic to nuts. Real meat needs to be refrigerated and like you said, you don't know that you will find palatable animals down there. I might need a list of what everyone is allergic to so I can see what all I can come up with. Maybe even some chocolate cake." He sat back in his chair to show he was done.

"I think we can assume that some type of emergency condition exists and will have to be on guard. I would think the Marines need to be ready for anything. We should have another Squad standing by if we could."

"Beef stew would be good. There are packages that have self-heating packs with them," Sam said to Ted. Then she looked at John. "We will definitely need a squad of Marines. I want to have options for the most likely scenarios ready before we leave. Anyone else have any ideas or comments?"

"We have plenty of medi-kits that are set and ready to go," Leanne explains. "Sickbay is prepared, sir."

"Mister Turner, I would like a sample menu for the meals. Small, convenient, nutritious. Ensign J'trey, go over any records on the two missing ships. Any transcripts or recordings, any background noise. Look for anything. Lieutenant Adeyemon, what would cause two shuttles to disappear without a trace? Work with J'trey and see what you can find from an engineering point of view. Lieutenant Bowen, I will need a doctor or two on the away team. Science will work on scans and planet geology to see what dangers the planet may offer us."

Oh, great...another trip to the planet, the doctor thought as she looked at the person in charge. "I guess it will be myself, sir."

"Thank you, Lieutenant Bowen. And, please, I prefer ma'am to sir," Sam said with a smile. "Away team will meet at 1000 hours tomorrow in transporter room 2. If there is nothing else, you are dismissed."
