875 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Pulling Together
Location: Vulcan
Timeline: While the Calypso is away

Samantha turned to Gink. "I don't know what's going on, but I want to find out. I want to use this opportunity to find out who is behind this so that we have something when the Calypso returns."

"You know that the evidence that I have gathered is conflicting."Gink said. "The priotect6nics are of Romulan design and would be quite conclusive if not for the fact the materials are made locally." Gink explained. "WHat also gets me to thinking that this is not Romulans is that Terrorist activituy is not Logical for the Romulans. They tend to come prepared; whch means they would bring thweir own explosives and not come and creazte them as the collection of the base raw materials might get attention?"He shrugged.
"This is pointing to more Logic to the attacks, and in that I mean for maximum effect and with thwe added 'SMoke and Mirror effect. To point the finger at someone else is not a Terrorist trait, they wish the people to fear 'them' and thus would want it known. Our crimes point finger elsewhere so Iam thinking more of a Native group in the Origin." GInk concluded."The non-detonated bomb by the small transmission site also shows a well designed bomb of local manufacture."Gink showed the readings. "It was made on Vulcan and because of threat alone it should be noited a local group is responsible."

"I believe someone wants us to think it's the Romulans," Sam said. "As you point out, there are too many irregularities. What we need to do is trace where these different elements of the device came from. And why the Vulcan authorities aren't doing more. That bothers me,too."

"I could give you a list of the most probable places that have the raw materials." Gink said calmly. "I have acquired a database of common chemical and Raw material resource people as I needed to cross refernce for breaking down the evidence and where to look when needed." Gink explained. "Connecting the raw materials and the evidence is usually a the most time consuming process, having short cuts of a database with the likely places cuts the research time as we all know the first 72 hours are crustal and the 24 hours after a crime critical to make deductions for be followed. Would you like that list printed onto your PADD?"

"I would, thank you," Sam said. It would be helpful to see what information he had available to add to what the Calypso could offer. Riht now, she needed to find who was behind the sabotage before anyone else got hurt.

Once again, she tried to reach the Horus. "York to Horus."

Again, there was no reply.

As they spoke, an orange transporter cloud materialized nearby, depositing a limping, if still impeccably uniformed, T'Pral. "Commodore," she said in greeting as she approached. "I believe we have need to talk."

"I will make connections to these sources and venture some deductions as to who might have gotten all the materials." Gink nodded to the Commanding Flag Officer. "I will go over there..." He pointed to an open place a few meters from York.

Sam turned to T'Pral, but then her combadge chirped. "Burke to York."

Samantha tapped on her combadge, surprised to hear from the Admiral. "York here."

"Why are you on Vulcan and your ship elsewhere?" the Admiral asked.

"I don't know, ma'am. It just...took off," Sam replied.

"I may have information that will be of use to you. I'll beam down to your coordinates. Burke out."

A moment later, the Admiral materialized. "Hello, Sam. Sorry to barge in like this." She looked at the Ferengi. "I don't believe we've met."

"I am Security Investigations Officer Gink." The Ferengi Bowed. "It is a humble pleasure to meet you Admiral." He continued. "I am The Local Investigations Officer assigned to the Diplomatic detachment . The Commodore was kind enough to request my services ma'am."

T'Pral remained at a respectful distance, standing patiently with both hands upon her cane. Her eyes flicked between those gathered, her face expressionless.

Sam turned to T'Pral. "I didn't know you'd beamed down to Vulcan. What did you find?"

"Indeed," T'Pral inclined her head, completely omitting the method by which she beamed down - completely violating doctor's orders. She approached the group, trying and failing to mask her limp. "I have been investigating independently. While my evidence is circumstantial, it may be a direction to pursue further."

Kathryn Burke raised an eyebrow. "You're the engineer who was injured? Then you might be interested in the information I have as well." She looked at Sam and Gink, then back to T'Pral.

"I have tried to see if the ordering has gone through the official channels by a Federation Operastions account here on Vulcan for raw materials that were used in the construction of these devices." Gink explained ."THere is not a high chance but Ishould rule it out. The Romulans bring all their items for any operation to remain self-contained. This is not the case here ; local materials were used and orderd...locally."
