“I’m not at all worried,” Stevie said blithely.  “What new parents don’t want- and need!- a little break every now and then?  But I have to admit, as adorable as she is- and she is a cute-ums wee biddle-kins- you do know what the best part of being an Auntie is, right?”  She paused, then continued with a laugh.  “You get to give them back!”

"And Kit wins the first cuddle for honesty." Newmark laughed. "I think the best part of having others around is kids can use all the love and support they can get so the more the merrier." He winked at the girls. "I admit going around here without the two of you about was both alowing me to have more time with my family..." He turned to Nhallia then back to the girls. "But it seemed a little more empty, like a couple of important people were not able to be there. I really missed that actually."

Kit smiled.  "We've missed you, too, Doc.  And Nhallia.  You have told me before that family is as much a matter of choice as birth, and we're all proof of that.  Lucky for both of you, Starfleet still seems to think that our little Trio is worth keeping together, and though there's no talk of another extended tour, they have made noise about a setting up a short concert series at some starbases for troop morale.  So they're going to let us all stay together for the forseeable future at least."

Nhallia nodded eagerly.  "That's good to hear.  Though...  I'm not sure how my maternity leave will affect that?  I- I'm not sure when I can come back to work- when I should I mean-"  She looked down at Aurea and the idea of going to work, of leaving her infant daughter in the care of strangers for hours and hours every day, made her breath catch in her throat and she reflexively tightened her grip, as if someone was trying to take the baby away from her....
"Not right away." Newmark felt the tension starting and he gently caressed her back. "Luckily Nhallia and I do not share the same shift so there can be parents around at all times." Newmark said. "Now A Date Night might be something of another matter where the aunts will get kiddo time."

Nhallia leaned into the comforting caress and forced herself to relax.  Starfleet wouldn't force her back to work right away.  They didn't do that kind of thing.  She had plenty of time- and she could possibly work a flex schedule or split shift- they would work something out.  Aurea would be taken care of, no matter what.  She would see to that.  She would resign if it came to it.  Anything to take care of her daughter.

"Just say the word when you need a sitter," Stevie offered.  "Unless we're performing, and I assume you'll be bringing her to the show then?  The Littlest Roadie to accompany our Number One Roadie.  We'll get her a little t-shirt that says she was a fan before she was born."

Newmark laughed. "I am surprised you did not put something about the 'next generation on a Onesie?" He had to laugh. "Though I think we will wait til mother is a little more willing to have a pair of Roadies?"

"I do have one still, I hope?  Unless he's thinking of retiring from the concert circuit," Nhallia asked with a pointed look at her husband.

"A little five pound bundle of joy adds 40 pounds of support equipment, do you have the room?" He teased.

She laughed.  "We'll reserve you a whole table in the front row instead of just a seat.  And she was just over eight pounds when she was born, thank you.  If you think you'll have trouble carrying the equipment, we'll just have to get you back into training- I'm sure Kit would be happy have you in the PT courses she runs for security officers and marines on ship."

Kit grinned.  "I could get you back into shape in no time, Doc," she promised/threatened.

"That kind of scares me." Newmark actually blushed a bit. "Why am I reminded of a Drill Sergent in my Officer training?" He laughed almost nervously. "Of course I trust you way more than him; you at least want me to live through it, the old Sergehnt did not seem to care that much."

"Oh you'll live, Doc.  Whether you want to or not," Kit said with a raised eyebrow that indicated she knew very well how to push someone to the edge of physical endurance and far, far past just a little 'pain is weakness leaving the body' inspirational discomfort.

Stevie winced.  She'd been on the receiving end of Kit's intensive work-outs before, and that was after only a few months of slacking off.  Doc, as far she could tell, hadn't seriously trained in anything physical in years.  Oh, he was going to *hurt* if he took her up on that offer.

"Should I dig out my old combat boots and pack?" Newmark teased. "I think they are still on the ship? I will check home closet before we go." He laughed in an almost nervous way. "My phaser is till up to date just need to lose some kilos and muscle up for Nhallia, make her remember what a dashing figure I could be?"

Nhallia laughed a little and winked at him.  "Do I get a vote in this?  Because it sounds like a fine plan to me."

Kit smiled in a very self-satisfied manner and nodded.  "Consider yourself accepted to the program, Doctor Newmark.  You'll report at 0530 on your second day after you start work."

"I suppose even the little one would agree." Newmark  sighed. ""I suppose you all have medical degrees and know what is best?" He tried to counter.

Stevie laughed.  "Don't go expecting any of your fancy educational-papers.  Kit's system is honed from years of experience, fine-tuned observation, and pure sadism," she said bitterly.

"I do it all for your own good and it hurts me worse than it hurts you," Kit parroted blandly, showing just how much sympathy someone would get if they complained about being tired or sore during a workout.

Nhallia spared a hand from holding Aurea and slid an arm around Verdeth for a quick hlaf-hug.  "Kit's never lost a trainee yet," she teased.

"Do you see what they put me through little one?" Newmark said to the baby. "You aunts are just not going to be nice, you can spit up on them all you want."

Aurea started squirming and fussing, almost as if on cue, and Nhallia half-laughed-half-sighed.  "And in a moment you are going to need a change, aren't you, Lovey?  Alright, Maisha is going.  Bye-bye, Aunties."  She waved one of Aurea's hands and smiled at her friends and stood to go take care of her.  "Duty calls.  We'll see you soon, Girls.  Take care."

Stevie waved her fingers back at the baby.  "Good-bye-byes, sweetums.  Yous a beautiful girl-sums, yesums you is.  Bye-byes."

Kit shook her head at Stevies's fluency in baby-nonsense but had to smile at it none-the-less.  "You three be careful on the way home, and we'll have everything ready for your arrival."

"Looking forward to being there again." Newmark nod. "Peace be with you."

The feed cut after that.
