Mission: Pulling Together

"My ears are ringing," Jayna said. "And I feel a little groggy." She carefully checked her body by moving parts. "Pain is a three or four, so nothing serious. I remember an explosion..." She wanted to reassure Logan that she was fine, that he shouldn't worry. And she also just wanted him to be with her. But if he was on the Horus as she thought, it might be better to let he and Remi do their work.

Rhiannon scanned Jayna with a medical tricorder.
"There's no permanent damage to your ears that I can see," she said. "The ringing should go away on its own shortly. If it doesn't, or if it gets any worse, let us know. There are some things we can do to speed up the process, but if possible I'd like to let it get better on its own. The grogginess is your body focusing its energy on getting better. There doesn't appear to be any significant brain trauma or evidence of a serious concussion, but you were knocked unconscious. I'm going to keep you here for a short while so you can get your bearings and so the boneknitting we did can set completely. You mentioned Mister Logan. I can have the bridge let him know you're alright if you'd like, if you think he'll be worrying about your condition."
"He's on the Horus. Yes, he should know I'm fine. He'll worry," Jayna said. "I think right now I just want to get some sleep."
"Of course," Rhiannon said. "You go ahead and rest and I'll see to it that someone lets Logan know that you're okay."
Rhiannon left Jayna to sleep and went off to contact the bridge.

While they made their way to the building, Sam tapped her combadge. "York to Horus. Jayna was beamed to sickbay. Let Logan know. And run an analysis of the shards she sent you. I want to know who made that device."
By the time Sam got to the top of the building, there was no one around. She carefully checked for signs of recent occupation. Using her tricorder, Sam found a small coin. "Strange." She first scanned it for prints, then slipped it into her pocket. "Gink, there is no one up here."
She checked the tricorder readings. "There's still a faint signal." She tapped her combadge. "York to Hale, can you trace the signal that detonated that last explosion?"
"Stand by Commodore," Illise replied, and handed the PADD she had been reviewing back to the scientist standing to her left. "Narrow the band .035 and try the scan again." She told him as she called up the external sensor data on her console. He went back to his station. Illise looked through the in-coming data for a few moments, frowned slightly then ran it through a few of her own algorithms.
Gink had started to make his way to the scene once the others had arived; the steps were not much of a workout as he dare not get 'portly and be the brunt of ridicule from fellow Security Personnel. GOing up the last flight of steps he hesitated and starred to scan the surrounding area at the door to the roof area taking very detailed scans while he made his way up.
Coming out onto the Roof he had his probe ready and went to each person that was fanning out and took a scan of them; adding the data to his PADD.
"I am here Commadore York." Gink said. "Give me just a moment I must get a reading from each person present." He explained. " I also would like to know how many of use utilized the banister for aiding your accent to the roof." He had a serious expression. "This is vital information for my hypothesis that is forming."
"I did," Sam said.
"I will need to scan your prints under present conditions." Gink moved his probe to scan her hands. "I have what might be smudged partial impressions on the banister, the angle of the print points towards decending but only in four places the person was not relying upon it, I might think it was to control a hastened decent and not lose balance.." He explained. "The sand from up here is a thin film on the steps ; it is obvious due to the thinest layer that the steps are swept periodically but we are between cycles." He nod as he completed his scan. "Now back to the angles at hand."
Gink took his probe with focus upon the ground, the subtle movements of sand and dust that could be an impression. FInding a certain 'swirl like' impression he discovered a rotation on the ball of a foot to take a stride in the dorection of the stairs.
"This is the place the person stood." Gink announced and pointed his probe in a general direction. "Intersects with the projected angle I put up earlier and the rotation in the sand film confirms." He sturned and moved slowly, taking care to only step in the 'undisturbed' layer of sand upon the roof. "Taking into account all present positions and foot falls to bring yo here I can see only partial steps; the person was careful." Gink explained. "Culprit is to the door, no impression of fingers means goves worn." He nod to himself. "Down the steps..." He said as he entered the staircase again.
"Can you get an idea of the shoe size and relative weight of the being?" Sam asked.
"By the partial, the pattern of the scuff with the turn..." Gink began to ponder and get better scans while tabulating data. "I would say about one point eight seven meters in height in a rough approximation, close to eight seven kilos in approximate weight but a strong in-step. The power of the stride is not human, too much pressure in the push off to be human. I would guess Vulcan or even Romulan as the strides were rushed rather than measured.
Illise nodded satisfactorily to herself. "There you are,", she mumbled then tapped her combadge. "Hale to York, whoever did this either really clever or really cocky. The signal was routed through multiple sources, even bouncing off several satellites and one automated cargo shuttle, but it originated from a structure only 1.6 kilometers east of your position. I'm sending the coordinates to your tricorder."
"Excellent. Thank you," Sam said. "Good work." When she got the coordinates, she turned to Gink. "Let's see what we can find."
Gink had already started to do some scanning of the area.
