Mission: Pulling Together
Location: Ready Room

ON

Now that they'd restored Kali to the throne of Jenefra and the Vances had taken Tate to get professional help, it was time for Sam to make a few in-house changes.

She paused while pacing her ready room to tap her combadge. "York to Munich. Could you please meet me in my ready room?"

Munich straightened his uniform jacket and stoof from the XO seat. =^= Munich here, I am on my way.=^= He replied slowly to control his accent just before striding towards the ready room and touching the chime

Sam stopped pacing and turned to face the door. "Come in."

Munich stepped into the Ready Room, he moved an appropriate distance from York and stood almost at attention but his boot heels did click.

"You called for me Ma'am?" He inquired.

"I did," Sam said. "Please, take a seat." She waved a hand in the air as she walked to her desk. "And please, don't stand on formality around me."

"I vill try ma'am." Munich said with a slight bit of embarrassment as he did not think he had been standig 'formally' compared to all the Militay school training he had as a Good Boy from a well to do family with a histroy of fine Military Men. "Thank you." He said before taking the offered seat. "Iz there something that I over looked in the evaluation reports ma'am?"

"No." Sam smiled, hoping to ease his discomfort. "As you know, I've been short a First Officer since Alexandra faked her death."

"I am aware that you have not been able to fulfil the slot and the ... Star Fleet suggestions have not been up to par to say da least." Munich replied. "So one can hope that Star Fleet admiralty will see someone with reason?"

"I would like to formally offer you the job."

Munich looked at the Commodore for a second or two; he managed to not do the 'excuse me' to her as he finally realized something he had suspected. He stood and bowed slightly. This had been a start to begin with; being the acting second in command seemed like a job he had been dropped into; the fact he had done it for two assignments should have been a slight hint.

"I will do my best to serve you Commodore York and thank you for Da confidence you have shown in me."

"You've done well so far. I think that once the job is yours on a permanent basis you'll be able to settle in and make the position yours."

Munich had to take the words in; he had been adapting to the demands upon his time and his interactions with the Communications; he had really been preening the deputy Chief to be ready. Heck he was just getting used to the chair like he was borrowing someone else's property. He had slowly been adapting to the changes and it seemed to be easier with the passing of time.

"I do find the chair is getting more comfortable." He admitted, "BUt what do you really expect of me as your Executive Officer?"

"I expect you to have my back," she said. "And to trust that I know what I'm doing. I do not need someone to treat me like spun glass and can't do anything on my own." She gave a wry smile at the memory. "At the same time, I want you to tell me if you think I'm going too far, or if I'm contemplating something dangerous." She paused for a moment for that to sink in, then continued. "There are times we have to do what is right, regardless of consequences, but there are times when I tend to rush in. If I do, call me on it and we'll talk."

Munich looked atthe Commodore and thought on the words; he surmised what he had done so far along those lines and how he could continue with it. A sly smile came to his face as he realized what he deduced the woman wanted; nothing more than is deserved for an officer of her rank.

"You are a commodore for a reason." Munich pointed out. "There iz process to attain that level of Command. I have read your file and understand you have a ..." He had to think of the right words. "Style of Commanding the Calypso." He nod. "As to having your back I am to quote the regulations where applicable and with a certain amount of forvardness tell you my opinion if in conflict. We then fix problem." He assured her. "You would like these more in Ready Room when possible so we on same page with crew, Yes?" He asked. "As Western culture calls 'United Front' among the Command Chain?"

"Exactly."

"I think that I can do dat." Munich replied as it is what he had been doing since he was asked to fill in the void. "I will take ownership of the second chair," Munich smiled.

"Thank you." Sam opened a drawer in her desk and pulled out a small box. "Along with the job comes this." She slid the box over to Hans.

"Vas iz Das?" [What is this?] Munich askede as he opened the small box and his eyes widened. "Commander Rank?" Munich had his language barries back in proper order. "I am honored but are you sure of Dis? I mean..." He stopped himself. "Thank you ma'am." He clicked his heels in proper Military fashion. "I am honored." He almost chuckled. "That means the PADDs on the desk I had thought temporary are more perminant than before, they are my reports now... officially?" He did chuckle. "Any more surprises?" He asked in an attempt at humor?"

"Nope. That should do it for now." San couldn't help grinning. "Starfleet Command felt it necessary for the First Officer of a Commodore to be a full commander. And yes, the paperwork comes with the promotion."

"Iz there anything I should requisition?" Munich said. "Like a yeoman to help with dis paperwork filing process?" He had a grin. "We do not have a captain just a commodore and Commander; that captain's yeoman duty station is open on the books?"

"I've never used a Yeoman. As a scientist, I don't really mind the paperwork," she said.

"My apologies, it seems my delivery of humor is off." Munich chuckled. "It was suppose to be a joke as one does not requisition a Yeoman does one?"

Sam couldn't help smiling. "Not normally, but I wouldn't put it past Apu." She shook her head. "Sorry. My humor is a bit off today. I think I need a break as much as the rest of the crew."

"I thank you for this." Munich said with the pip. "I vill take the bridge duty and you can have time to self in ready room, Ma'am." He gave a slight bow before starting to leave.

"Thank you." It would be nice to spend a little more time catching up on paperwork. She nodded to Hans as he turned and walked out.
