Newmark had the place to himself; he looked around and found that the place seems so large for a star ship cabin. The hours were ticking away as he sat looking around the place and realizing how much the place reminded him that he was indeed alone. The walls were not closing in on him so much as they felt cold. He had a time piece with the Risan Local time on it; he had carefully timed each call and this was no different.
"Computer, open channel to Risa; Newmark residence." He commanded.
((Risa))
Nhallia started slightly, dropping the book she'd been reading as the comm chime rang. "I have to reprogram that to something less jarring," she muttered to herself and slowly, carefully, pushed herself up off the sofa. She was on 'modified' bed rest- she didn't have to lie in bed all day, but Doc wanted her sitting with her feet up for as much time as reasonably possible.
So she did as she was told and lounged about all day, except when she was at the spa getting prenatal treatments of various types.
"Newmark House," she started to answer, taking this opportunity of standing to gently stretch.
When the image on the screen appeared, she couldn't help but smile. "Verdeth!"
"Hello My Lady." Newmark said with a grin. "How goes the pampered life?" He gave her the best grin he could muster as he was so very glad just to see her and hear her voice. "Mother able to get those kinks out?"
"Almost every day. Massages and spa baths and suspension pools... I can't swim, and I get seasick still. But I'm here, with the ocean just outside..." Her smile turned just a little bit sad. "I wish you were here with me, Lover."
"I have no greater desire than to be there." He said honestly. "The situation here is a little more than routine; we have diplomatic envoys going down and the inoculations alone are making pin coushins of the Away Teams." He joked. "And I am kind of left in charge while the Doctor is away doing that application for citizenship thing." He looked into her eyes through the screen. "How are you doing... really?"
Nhallia's mouth was already open and ready to... well, not *lie*, but to maybe *fib* a little... but nothing came out for a second. Her hands moved first, then her voice caught up. "It's been tough," she admitted, blushing in something like shame as she said it. "Doc has me on modified bed rest. He's threatening to make it full bed rest if I don't do my best to comply, so I'm trying, I really am. But it's hard to just... do nothing all day. Between the muscle cramps and morning sickness and all the reasons for the bedrest.... But Mom and Doc have been so great- I hate to complain, because I know how good they are being to me."
"Complain all you want; you are regnant." New,ark chuckled. "You might get better treatment if you were a little testy and Doc has heard a few complaints over the years." He winked. "Might make them worry less and in complaining we doctors actually get a better idea of what the patient feels than if you keep quiet." He gave her that sly smile. "If you complain he might recommend different regimen and such; right now he might be cautious?"
Nhallia smiled at him, giving a little chuckle. "I'll tell him you told me it was alright to whine." She pressed her hands into her lower back and leaned into the 'pregnant pose' so many women adopted in the late stages. She understood why, now, since it relieved slightly the way the baby was pressing into various organs and muscles. "Maybe he'll let me go down to the beach more? I can't surf or even float on a board, I got motion sick trying, but I feel better the closer I am to the waves. So long as no one mistakes me for beached whale and tries to push me into the water," she tried to joke.
"There is a sight I am looking forward to, you on the beach listening to the waves." He said while it could be told he was imagining the sight. "Of all the things you can be mistaken for a Whale is NOT one of them." He gave a smile. They are indigenous to Earth, a Risan would not know one even if they saw one. They would see a lovely young mother basking in the sun and sounds of the ocean."
"You," she accused and pointed a playful finger at him, "always know how to flatter me just right. Still wonder sometimes how and why you hadn't swept some other girl off her feet long before you met me."
"Others lacked an appreciation of my talents." He smiled. "Seems you were the only one to see the potential." He laughed. "No one else could have been as perfect as you; sorry, you just have to accept you are the only one for me because no one else wanted me." He shrugged. "Guess we are bound to one another no matter what?"
Nhallia dropped one hand to rest on her very large stomach. "I like to think so," she said, though she did flush a little. After all both she and her husband had been abandoned by one of their biological parents- having a child together wouldn't necessarily mean much if the foundation of their relationship wasn't strong on its own. If anything a baby would cause more stress, not less. She'd sometimes wondered if she hadn't been part of the reason of her mother had left when she was only four.
"I really can't wait for you to get here. It's only two more weeks until you get leave to join me, right?" she prompted hopefully. She wasn't due for another four weeks, her last two weeks Verdeth was supposed to be here with her.
"Even if I have to steal a Runabout and pilot." He promised and had full intentions of being there."So has mother hired help to clean the house or is she coming herself?" He joked. "I know she will not let you hurt yourself by having to maintain what was my Bachelor Pad and Party Central." He snickered. "The girls have been by every now and again to make sure I eat and all so you don't have to worry about me."
"Nice to have family around to take care of you. Your mother is staying here in the spare room so I'm not alone at night. Just... in case something happens. Between her and Doc, I'm never alone for more than a few hours between visits."
