Mara stepped out of the restaurant. She had ended up spending more time at the restaurant that she had initially anticipated to however her food and company proved to her more enjoyable. While the young man that she had spent the last couple of hours speaking with might have had other ideas and now feels lead on she enjoyed hearing his stories and had a pleasant time.
She checked the time. Her transport vessel would be arriving any moment. She decided to head to the vault where she had locked up her belongings so she could wander around the station.
“Transportation Office to Lieutenant Cross.” Her communication badge called out.
“This is Cross, go ahead.” She replied.
“Lieutenant, please report to the Transportation Office as soon as possible.”
“On my way.” She quickly replied. She instantly had a feeling that something might be wrong with her transport ship. It was out of the ordinary for the Transportation Office to requist someone's presence as soon as possible. She sighed, stepping into the turbolift.
A couple of minutes later she arrived at the office.
She stepped inside and was quickly greeted by a Liutenant working behind a counter. “You must be Lieutenant Cross.” Mara nodded in reply approaching the counter.
“Thank you for getting here so quickly. Your transport ship has been delayed. There is an issue with their warp drive. We are about to dispatch a vessel to them in order to assist.”
“I see…” Mara said then let out a sigh. “How long till I can get passage on another vessel?”
“Well, you see that's the great news.”
Mara was confused about how her transport ship being broken is great news. She looked at the woman behind the counter with a puzzled looked on her face.
“You see, the ship that we are sending out to assist will be passing very close to where USS Calypso is currently operating. I have spoken with the crew and they would be more than happy to take you Calypso on their way out there.” The Lieutenant explained.
Mara smiled. She was right. It was great news. She was excited to get aboard the Calypso, and to being her new assignment. It had been a while she has been aboard a Starfleet vessel as one of the crew members.
Lieutenant smiled back at Mara. “I hear you are familiar with the vessel that you will be traveling aboard. It is the USS Siena. It is the same vessel you arrived here at the starbase on.”
Mara nodded. “I’m assuming that she is still docked where I left her?” She asked.
Lieutenant nodded. “That’s correct. Should I let the crew know that you are on the way?”
Mara nodded. “Yes, please do. I do need to stop by and pick up my belongings but I should be there shortly after that”
“Great. I will let them know right away. And I’m sorry about all this.”
Mara shook her hand. “There is no need to apologize. These things do happen. Thank you, and have a great day.”
“You as well.”
Mara stepped out of the Transportation Office and headed for the nearest turbolift. She was worried that she’d have to wait longer but things worked out great. She stepped inside the turbolift, and headed to pick up her belongings.
