Mission:
Of Gods and Men
Location: Lancaster's Quarters
"Hello, Lieutenant Lancaster."
Ronnie opened her eyes. It was cold in her quarters. Damion was working and would be back later, but that wasn't his voice...
"Computer, lights." Instead of the warm glow of the internal lighting, there was nothing. "Computer, turn up the temperature to 76 degrees Fahrenheit."
Again there was nothing. She fumbled around her night stand for her combadge to call
"Looking for this?" The cold feminine voice responded displaying Lancaster's commbadge into the small Ray of light beaming in from the stars. The hand holding the device had pale skin. It seemed the owner of the hand looked as sickly as they sounded. "He won't hear you. He's too busy chasing ghosts. It's just you and me 'Ronnie'.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"I am everyone, and I am no one." The voice replied. "I can be anyone, I can be anywhere."
"But you started out as someone," Ronnie said logically. "And what are you doing in my quarters?"
"And a single moment changed that, just like it changed you. Isn't that right Lieutenant?" The voice cooed as the figure leaned into the moonlight partially revealing her face, except it wasn't a her at all. Ronnie would recognize the face, it was none other then Captain Stryfe. "What? You thought I'd go away because the big bad Wolfe said so?" He cooed, no longer speaking in the feminine tone but of that matching the figure whom was speaking.
Something was definitely wrong here. Stryfe had been captured by Max Hunter when he ran off with the Admiral's shuttle. "Shapeshifter or nightmare," she said.
The man moved forward grabbing Lancaster by her neck choking her with his cold hands. His fingers dug into her trachea cutting off airflow. "Tell me Ronnie am I a nightmare now? Wake up! Wake up Ronnie!" The man chided harshly as he choked her before throwing her to the ground. "I assure you Lancaster, I am no nightmare, but I will be..."
"Damion!" Ronnie screamed, knowing that he would hear her and come to her rescue. She had a knife in her dresser drawer, but it was out of reach. So she rolled away from him and headed for the living area to get something she could use as a weapon.
[[Corridors]]
Damion was walking down the corridor, on his way to his office, when he heard Ronnie call his name. No one else but him heard it and it wasn't how he usually felt it. This one was in distress. Great distress. Damion froze in place and stood there for what seemed like more than a few seconds.
He closed his eyes and tried to focus. Where would she be? Science labs? Too late. Mess hall? Too early. My quarters? Not since the Night Star. Her quarters? As he opened his eyes he quickly tapped his combadge. "Wolfe to Tallas? Locate Ronnie."
"You got it Wolfe. Just give me-"
"You don't have it." Damion said firmly as he slowly got down onto a knee and slid his hand into his book, feeling his retractable blade's handle.
"Uhh... Her quarters, Boss." Tallas replied. "Is everything okay?"
As soon as he heard the answer he quickly removed his weapon and took off running. "No, Blue. Everything is not okay." Damion said in between rapid breaths. He ran passed several officers, almost knocking a few of them down. "Tallas! Lock down her quarters! No one out! Hack whatever the hell you need in order to get me eyes on the inside! Now, Blue!"
"Got it. On it. I'll do everything I can to make sure your-"
"Tallas!" Damion hollered as he turned a corner in the corridor.
"Yeah, Wolfe?"
"A little less conversation and little more action." He replied as he ran down the adjoining corridor.
"Right. Sorry. On it, Wolfe."
[[Lancaster's Quarters]]
The man could see the fear in Ronnie's eyes, he could almost smell it. "I've seen that fear before Lieutenant. Paralyzing isn't it? Can you feel it? Your muscles freeze solid as the fear grips you tightly leaving you helpless, helpless like a small child? All you can do is sob. Cry for me Lieutenant."
The figure once again stepped into the light, except this time it took on the form of Damion Wolfe. "Show me your fear."
"I am not helpless. I will not fear you," Ronnie said, allowing her anger to replace any fear. "What do you want with me?"
"You can lie to me Lieutenant but you cannot lie to yourself. Your afraid Lieutenant, everyone fears something. Tell me Ronnie, what are you afraid of." The figure said stepping closer to Ronnie leaning in towards her face.
"Not you!" she said, forcing back the fear. All she had to do was wait for Damion to arrive...
The figure of Wolfe smiling as it chuckled sinisterly. "Spoken like someone who is hiding fear. I can see it in your eyes Lieutenant. This, you are afraid of losing this. The thought of losing poor Damion sends chills down your spine doesn't it? The thought of having that bond you share, broken in an instant. What would you do then Ronnie? What would you become?"
She didn't want to imagine losing Damion. "Why?" she asked again. "What did you lose to make you do this to others?"
The figure smiled as it once again disappeared into the darkness. "I lost my fear, Lieutenant. One without fear, has nothing to lose."
"So you lost someone you loved? And now you have nothing but hate and anger?" Ronnie said, going on the offensive.
"I have lost fear allowing me to become it. I can strike the same fear in the faces of the many, but I can also take it away, just like it was taken from me. Power, Lieutenant. It is truly a gift, a gift I can give to you." The voice replied returning to the cold feminine tone it began with.
"My fear makes me human. Overcoming my fear makes me stronger," Ronnie said. She found a solid object and grabbed it with one hand and waited for the person to show himself again.
