"Or he could have been you?" Spartacus added. "But since you are you and he is he why not just stick to the Ignatz I have in This room for the conversational subject?" She winked. "Is there anything you like about this side over the Mirror Universe?"
NEW
Ignatz grinned, "There's plenty on both sides to be happy with, Teena. I'm sorry if I sounded like the glass being half-empty type, I kind of like how they treat priests on this side, for the most part. That could be all because of Empress Hoshi's influence, though, she tried to wipe out religion as a subversive influence. Of course she was right, but she would have been better served if she had enlisted one to be a state religion, it's amazing the things that were done in the name of holy wars. Horrible, yes, but amazing all the same.
"I find religion to be a subject I avoid, there are so many that think they are right and everyone else is wrong, no wonder that there are so many wars in the name of a deity or doctrine." Spartacus observed. "As a priest you have a relationship with the one you serve, how do you think that will help you in your duties on the Calypso?"
"Because, actually, I more serve an ideal rather than a diety. I believe myself in the divinity of sentient beings, the force of their group beliefs, but right and wrong are also Ideas I believe in." Ignatz smiled, "sorry if that's as clear as mud. I don't know how else to express it."
"Then you do not believe in one sentinant superior being?" Spartacus asked. "I myself believe that Fate and Dystany are Brothers using we as pawns in their games to one up each other." She admit. "How did you get your Priesthood if i might ask?"
"I was raised in a monastery after being abandoned at birth. There are a few religions on this side of the mirror that serve philosophies instead of Dieties as well, but I never said that I personally don't believe in a supreme being. Just that my faith doesn't officially." Ignatz grinned wryly.
"I have seen time in a Temple for a few years myself in my youth. It was a time that bridled my more wild tendencies and I feel I am the better for it?" She smiled. "I am sure a confessional with you would be a unique experience, absolution is usually the desired effect from the representative of the faith? HOw would you give that?"
"Through counselling. A Chaplin is expected to handle them in the terms of their own faith, which may or may not be their own. I can equally do a brisk as I can give a blessing from the prophets. The Gods, they are an understanding lot these days, with so many faiths to choose from, they can't afford to be exclusive anymore." Ignatz smiled.
"I could see where that is an advantage." Spartacus said. "Should I ever need absolution I shall seek you out." She smiled. "You have a refreshing take on things and I think you will be a welcome addition to the ship as a whole." She winked. "That is a subtle way to say I am approving your fitness for duty Mr. Ignaz." SHe nod. "Please feel you can visit any time I have an open door policy and I love stimulating conversation." She sat back and put the PADD down. "The official duty is over, so please feel free to continue this conversation."
"Well, any other path would lead to another `Holy war' regardless of scale. It is worth that much loss of life to ensure that the `Infidels' aren't taking care of your flock where you can't?" Mused Ignatz.
"I have been counted among the lower life forms, slaves and infidels so I would like to say it is NOT worth a war. I am here just to take care of people." She giggled. "I am a woman of peace by nature, I do hate violence and do what I can to slow it or bring it to a screeching halt."
Ignatz smiled, "I hope you like cakes and such, because it sounds like we're going to have some marathon discussions and I'm going to need someone to offload, errr... share the bounty some of the crew have been leaving on my doorstep. I remember the old recipe for poundcake mainly because I know that's how many pounds will wind up on my waistline if I eat it myself..."
"Have to admire a man who does not consider a woman's waist line when it comes to sweets." Spartacus snickered. "I do hate to admit I have a sweet tooth that takes up my whole mouth." She smiled. "I was neglected about my waist line as a young girl so sweets were to be fed to others and not enjoyed." She was surprised she admit that, nervously fidgeting. "Well, I do have a thing for hot chocolate with Andorian chocolate, it has a lower melting point and when cooling solidifies just enough to taste like you are eating a chocolate bar. But alas the replicator never gets it right so I indulge at star bases where I can get a merchant to sell me some."
"Bah, you love someone for what's in their heart, not what lies beneath their belt... nor shirt nor pants for that matter. But I might just wrestle with you for that chocolate... Or maybe share it with you and then wrestle." He gave her a mischievous wink and grin. "Course I'd likely lose... If the prize was only chocolate."
Eyes narrowing as she gave a cat like smile. "Wrestling for a prize is not about the struggle but the achieving the prize is the fun, it would not taste right if I thought the other had let me win?" Spartacus laughed. "It has to be all or nothing in competition unless..." She started but shook her head. "Competition is only fun if you try your best, win or lose you can find solace in your expending of effort and skill towards the goal."
Ignatz smiled, "but then isn't the struggle a prize unto itself? And some things are sweeter than the chocolate, and much more addictive." Ignatz gave her a wink. "Knowing that holding back would sour what you want as a prize, I'll be sure to wrestle you at my hardest to make your prize just as sweet. If the opportunity should present itself."
I am a woman of Peace; I use Tai Chi to meditate." She smiled like a cat with a taste of mouse. "Wrestling is violent and I might rip my silk clothing." She grinned. "But if you are so inclined I would make an effort to make it worth your while ... for exercise of course."
'Of course," Ignatz said with a wink and a grin. "Wrestling is good exercise, it keeps one limber and lithe."
"Excersise as a rule is good for the body, there are many forms of it." Spartacus said with a smile. "You just have to find the perfect exercise partner to make it fun."
