"Toras, we need those salads out, stat!" The yell that had punctuated the kitchen came from a very harried Ted. The lunch rush was bigger than Ted had imagined it would be. A galaxy class starship needed a lot more staff than they currently had. For some reason, though, Starfleet disagreed. They needed at least two chefs on duty at all times, but they only had two and neither one of them would work 20 hour shifts. They also needed twice as many waitresses. Bartenders seemed to be the only ones they had enough of.

An ensign came up to the crowded bar. "Hey, when is my food going to come?"

"We're working on it." Ted said. Beside him, Dreral was pouring about fifteen glasses.

Two blue hands pushed through a tray of food in the window. "Order 72!" came Toras's voice. Jamie took the tray and hurried to a table with it.

Ted looked at Dreral. "You got the bar?" The boy nodded, not looking up from the Samarian Sunset he was making. Ted threw on an apron and went in the back. "What all you need help with, Toras?

The 6'8 Andorian looked at him. "We have eight salads that need to be made, but I'm busy with the rest of it."

Ted washed his hands. "What kinds?"

"Two Harvest, one Chef, one House, two Ceasar, one Grilled Chicken, and one Fiesta Lime Chicken."

Ted got to work instantly. Cooking the meats for them first, he took dried cranberries and raisins and put them in port wine to soak up some juice. Pouring port over the pork in one pan, he basted some chicken and put it on to grill before marinating some more chicken with lime marinade and putting that on the grill next. After cutting up the meat and tearing up the lettuce and spinach, he took out the now-plump cranberries and put it in one of the salads. Finishing the Harvest Salad with nuts and the pork, he moved onto the grilled chicken and ceasar. Once all the salads were finished he put them on a tray and rang the bell. "Table 14!"

Jemma's face appeared on the other side of the door. "They just left." It was going to be a long couple of weeks.
