Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Andrews Quarters
Korok walked away from the doctor and growled softly to himself. "I do not want to have more therapy." He used the cane given to him for support to help ease the pressure and pain on his knee while he went through physical therapy to help support himself until his muscles retrained themselves. Korok headed from the Lounge to their quarters. He did not press the chime or announce himself he simply let himself in and dropped his bag by the door and made his way to the couch and eased himself into it and leaned back and closed his eyes and sighed softly.
Lieutenant Andrews came out from the bathroom, holding on to her stomach. She looked at the couch at one side, and blinked..several times...."LUKK!!!" She shouted as she ran to him. As she got near. she noticed his leg. "Lukk. You're home...welcome." She bent down and kissed him.
Korok responded to her shout and opened his eyes and wondered if she still had the flu when she bent down and kissed him. Not one to let an opportunity go by. Korok pulled her unto his lap and kissed her back. "It’s good to be home." He met her eyes with a smile "I missed you and the kids, are they here or still in school?"
Andrews felt herself turning red in the face. "They're at school. Oh, they will be*so happy* to see you again. It took a bit to get them to understand that'd you'd be back. Now..follow me..don't say anything, untill you've looked it all over."
Andrews took Korok's hand and led him into a room next to their's. The room was painted a neutral beige, to one side there sat a rocker, and on the other side a crib.
Andrews spoke softly to Korok. "Ummm. That 'flu' I thought I had... well, it wasn't.."
Korok watched her face turn red and wondered why she was suddenly embarrassed with a bit of affection. He waited patiently until Roberta stood and then he struggled to stand up, it took a few seconds for him to make sure he had his balance but he followed her as she tugged on his hand.
Korok looked at the walls, nothing new there, he could care less about wall color. He shrugged for a moment as his dark eyes held questions as he looked from the chair to the crib and back again and it dawned on him what she implied. He took a deep breath and wavered where he stood. He held her hand tight as he felt color drain from his face. He went to that night in the barn but before that she had, had powers, a witch is what they called her and it sent a shiver up his spine.
Roberta noticed the look in Korok's eyes, and she fellt a bit unease.
Korok opened his mouth but no words came out, he was stunned and it showed all over his face. He forced it shut, cleared his throat and and tried again. "How... I mean I understand the how such things occur." Korok paused still stunned his words took along long time to formulate in his mind and get growled out his mouth. "You..." He looked at her oddly as he continued "and I...we, well we only... um you know... in that place, that Captain Blackwater took us all too... that barn. That wasn't real was it?" Korok's face had turned a slight red color and then darker until it was a deep burgundy as he asked. To him it had been a dream, a strange one but a dream non-the less.
Roberta just looked at him. "Of course it was real..I was there..remember? I felt as if I were dreaming, but I wasn't....you and I were there..together."
Korok had to know. He grabbed her wrist and turned her and backed her up against the wall and held her there for a moment as he propped himself up and unzipped her tunic, and pulled it back to expose her shoulder. The spot was hidden by her shirt and bra strap, He reached behind him and pulled a small knife, the same one he had used in the pit. It still had blood on it and he slid it neatly under the shirt and strap and yanked upward so it ripped and cut the fabric it exposed her shoulder. He looked once more for the bite mark that shoulder be there.
Roberta smiled.."So,,we doing the 'mating ritual' again? You looking for this?" She thrust her shoulder at him so he could see the wound clearly.
Korok touched the wound lightly and mumbled “No... no... I…I…” He looked into Roberta’s eyes “am sorry.” He lowered the knife and put it away. How could he explain, he could not. He felt dazed as his thumb gently rubbed the spot where he had bitten her and scarred her when he had chosen her. He felt the roughness of the scar, it still seemed to send a tingle up his arm each time he touched it. Korok looked back at the crib and then at Roberta once more. “So, you, er rather... we are having a baby."
Roberta felt a sharp tingle inside when Korok touched her wound. She smiled back at him. "Yes...*we* are having a baby. And *you* are going to be a Father...you big lug you."She said that last bit with a grin, to make sure he didn't think it was a bad comment
Korok didn't smile but he didn't glower either it was as if he was unsure what to do or to say and he did not want to say the wrong thing as he continued to look her in the eyes. He felt nervous, concerned and excited all at the same time. He grinned suddenly for a brief moment and happiness flickered into his eyes. He reached out and touched her stomach for a brief second. He looked down to where his hand was and then met her eyes again as he dropped his hand. "What gender is it?"
Roberta looked at him then back at the crib. "I.haven't asked the Doctor, it may be to soon to distinguish male from female. Ijust know that it will be loved"..(with this she slid her arms around his chest)".and protected.."
Korok would have frowned if he could his last experience led him to believe that he was not very good at protecting anything. He still felt he had failed the pretty orion woman. Who had died because of him, but he would not say anything. Roberta would find it strange that he had felt protective of another woman. Others, like that pretty Beckinsale Marine had been hurt in ways he would dare not imagine, it fueled that failure. Even thought the Orion's death had probably been honorable his Bajoran half felt that loss, and failure. Little did he know that she, the orion was alive and well. for he had not seen her since his rescue and return to the ship. He hugged Roberta in return, his eyes clouded with doubt. "I will attempt to do my best to protect you all." His hand rubbed her back in reassurance.
Roberta's eyes went wide with that back rub, feeling various emotions flooding her senses all at once. She turned around to Lukk, and began to massage his chest. "You know...the kids won't be home for a couple of hours...and the Doc told me it's ok for us to,...you know...oh heck!" She grabbed his head and planted a big kiss on his lips.
Korok kissed her back and then paused briefly the words of his therapist rippled through his mind. ~The therapist had said ' try not stress your knee and leg while it heals'.~ He ignored those words of warning, as he growled as her and bit her exposed shoulder gently but enough to signify that he would respond to her desires and to let her know he had missed her too. "It is good to be home." He growled in his deep rumble.
Roberta replied, "Yes..it is good to be home.."
