Mission: Falling Star

[OLD]
"Sorry." Stryfe smiled a bit. Ronnie couldn't explain it, but seeing him smile didn't feel right. It made her feel uneasy. "Safety precaution. This is still an Intelligence ship. There is no telling who you can trust and who you can't." He tapped on the console beside her biobed, removing the forcefield and allowing her to move freely. Stryfe than walkedover to Damion's biobed and did the same.
[NEW]
Ronnie slowly sat up, careful of her throbbing head.
"Funny." Damion said softly as he sat up slowly and turned to face Captain Stryfe. "I heard different."
"Mind games, Damion. You know how much those admirals in Intel enjoy telling you one thing when they are really working something completely different." Stryfe replied, waving his hand slightly as he looked over to Ronnie. "Nature of the game, Lieutenant. Deception. Lies. Codes. Secrets." He paused slightly, adding a hint of enjoyment. "Sometimes its hard to tell what side your on. Other days, its hard to tell whose on your side."
Damion crossed his arms over his chest and watched him carefully. He was trying to get a read on Captain Stryfe, but it was difficult. Either his old Captain was being honest, or he truly believed what he was saying. There was also the possibility that Stryfe was keeping his mental guards up only because he knew Damion would try to read him the first chance he got.
"You know, Miss Lancaster. We are in good need of a skilled science officer." Stryfe said softly, placing his hands behind his back and watching her closely.
"Damion and I are a matched set," she informed the man quietly. She didn't want to irritate him, but she wasn't going to agree to work with him, either. He triggered her fight or flight instincts like few others and she wanted to stay as far from Stryfe as she could.
"Of course." Stryfe smiled as he looked over to Damion. The look he gave Damion was a bit off putting. It was almost like he was happy he was there, but also suspicious at the same time. He looked back to Ronnie and nodded his head. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
"Then why are you treating us like prisoners?" she asked bluntly.
Stryfe looked to Ronnie, than looked over to Damion. "Just following some old advice from my former Chief of Intelligence. With that said, I would ask you wait for my head of security to come and escort you two to quarters and debrief you. Any further questions can be relayed through her."
Ronnie didn't like the sound of that. Not at all. "Yeah, we'll wait for the Brute Squad. No need to deal with us yourself," she muttered.
"I am sure you are aware, Lieutenant this is an Intel ship. You should get used to that kind of treatment." Stryfe replied, adding a bit of a smile as he looked to Damion. "Isn't that right, Wolf?"
Damion just gave him a hard look, his eyes locked as he heard the doors open to the Sickbay. "If you say so, Captain."
"Oh you will find a lot of things have changed, Wolfie." Said a slightly familiar voice, accompanied by some soft purring in the throat.
With a slight sigh, Damion looked away from Stryfe and focused his eyes on Kayte. "I see you've moved up in the world. I thought you would have at least found yourself at the end of a ditch somewhere. Or in a hospital. Riddled with diseases."
A slight growl came from her throat as she approached Damion with a stern face. She looked over to Stryfe, who gave her a look of his own which signaled her to cool down. Slowly, Kayte smiled, looking back to Damion and letting out her light purring as she spoke up. "Aww Wolfie. Still quick with mouth. Too bad your mouth couldn't save you out of your current problem, could it?" She crossed her arms under her chest and tilted her head a bit as her tail swayed slightly behind her. "Relax. We are all friends here. You and your flavor of the week can take a moment to freshen up in your quarters while the rest of us continue with our current mission."
Damion raised a brow slightly. "What current mission?"
"Sweetie. I'm afraid that's classified, but as soon as we are ready we will tell you. Okay?" Kayte added with a soft voice and slightly rhythmic purr.
Damion could tell she was playing nice for the sake of staying on Stryfe's good side, however there was no way to prove it. Of all the years he knew the seductive Caitian, not once did she enjoy playing nice with him. In fact she reveled in pushing his buttons. Damion, for the moment, just brushed it off. "Before we leave, Kayte. I'm gonna need it back." He said sternly as he took a step to her, his eyes locked on hers.
"And what would it be, Kitten?" Kayte replied softly with a smile. "Oh you mean your little toy?" She looked over to Stryfe as she quickly raised her other hand, twirling something in it for a bit. "I was going to give it back to you." She added a giggled as she tilted her head and continued in a sing songy type voice. "I wasn't gonna leave the poor puppy without his favorite toy, now was I?"
He narrowed his eyes slightly, looking over to Stryfe before quickly taking his retractable sword from her hand. She was lucky it was still in its locked position, or he would have placed it to her throat for even taking it. "Never again, Kayte."
Kayte gave him a smile as she slowly stepped aside and gestured to the doors. "After you two love birds."
Damion could feel the fake sincerity coming from her. It pulsed off her fur like radiation, but that didn't matter now. At the moment, he didn't care. Right now, he needed to get to his quarters and asses their situation. No doubt Stryfe already took precautions, but Damion still had a few tricks up his sleeve that he kept in place in the event he ever found himself back on board the Night Star for whatever reason.
"Let's go, Ronnie." He said softly, his eyes still focused on Kayte and her crooked smile.
Ronnie didn't like being called Damion's flavor of the week, but said nothing. She didn't trust anyone here. She nodded and followed Damion. The sooner they left this ship, the better.
