874 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Revenge
Location: Bridge

ON

Munich took the center chair on the bridge; he was not really wanting this position; nor did he really think he would have been left in this position. The regulations concerning away teams was specific but when the Majority of the Command Staff are missing and only the junior Officers remain, things get complected. The Calypso had left 'regulation standards and protocols' a long time ago, the people who wrote those rules had no conception of an XO being the Commanding Officer and then departing that command for a rescue.

"Lieutenant Lynx to the Bridge." Munich called over the intercom.

=^= On my way, =^= Eamon replied.

"Miss Delgado, keep a sharp scan open we do not need anymore surprises." He glanced to her, he was glad she manned the station actually.

"Yes, sir," she said, giving Hans a brief smile. "Continuing to scan the area."

"As of now I Hans Munich take control of the USS Calypso." Munich announced.

The computer beeped in acknowledgment.

"Interesting," Maria said quietly. "I got a flash of the away team on the planet, and now...nothing. They just disappeared."

"I would say dey found the base." Munich said as his German accent was more pronounced in times of stress. "Relay dose reading to Tactical as f an attack will come it will be frome dere."

Kela suddenly heard the alert from her console and tapped on it to bring up the display. Her eyes widened as she yelled "Incoming! Missiles and disruptors!" The ship shook for a bit from the collision. "Shields are holding, Sir. Going to Red Alert."

The lance of light from the ground emplacement was just a touch wide grazing the shielding an shaking the axis of the Calypso, the power of the attack was enough to have a significant drain on the shielding with a glancing blow to them.

"Fighters, you have a go for launch!" Munich ordered. "Battle Stations and prepare for a real fight! I want the fighters to target that ground weapon sites. Science will relay what we know."

Eamon rushed out of the turbolift as several more hits and went to the engineering station at the back of the bridge. He checked the shields and they appeared to be holding at eight-three percent and climbing slowly as his staff down in the engine room performed their duties.

The Inaran went to tactical, old habits die hard, he refrained from doing anything as their was a security officer there. "You called Lieutenant?" He asked Hans.

"I need all Bridge personnel here as Ve are in a difficult situation." Munich replied. "Man a station and let's get the damn enemies taken down and into a place to retreve our people."

"Aye, sir," Anli replied, sending word to all departments.

A moment later Eamon made his way over to the engineering station and checked it's readouts. He noticed a build up, he had performed a re-route of power flow to other areas such as shields and weapons. He then turned back to viewer watching the battle attempting to anticipate where they might strike so to quick reinforce shields at that area.

[Launch Bay]

Phoenix signed off on a new fighter and turned to Leo. "I'll be ready to launch in two minutes," she said, running to her new bird.

As soon as she was ready, she sent a message to the CAG and queued up to launch.

[Engineering]

O'Brian turned to Lynx in Engineering. "Lieutenant, are these Warp Core readings correct? I'd like your verification - it looks to me like they're over heating! O'Brian hit her com badge. "O'Brian to Bridge! Warp Core readings are fluctuating! We *might* have to dump the core!"

Munich knew that this was getting bad, he had a ship that was using all her armament and resources just to stay alive, the 'fireworks show' should impress any enemy but then the Orion Syndicate were known to have 'overkill' on their minds.

"Hold her as long as we can, I am preparing to end this in very short order." Munich assured. If you can buy me five minutes I tink I can get you the ship off red alert and let you stabilize her?"

O'Brian looked at the controls. "I'll..'we'll' hold here together as long as needed. We're borrowing from Peter to pay Paul here. Just don't keep this going for a couple of days." She laughed.

"I intend to end this quickly." Munich said with resolve. "I will not abuse your fine efforts." He added.

O'Brian shook her head. "Good, cause we're getting close to the 'red line.' " She answered.

"We will keep you out of Dat." The German accent was getting more pronounced.

" Sehr gut." O'Brian replied with a grin.

"Lynx to O'Brian, vent the freaking plasma from the ship if you have to! Ejecting the core is last resort." Eamon called.

O'Brian hit her com badge. "That's been venting for the past five minutes! We're still holding on here."
