Mission: Revenge
Location: Commodore York's Office
Timeline: Current

Ilse Frost stepped lightly out of the turbo lift and scurried down to the Commodore's office, she pressed the chime and waited. Unlike many of her peers Dr. Frost tended to be a bit disheveled most of the time. It wasn't that she didn't care for cleanliness, she did it was very important in her line of work She just often forgot to comb her hair out and it often looked messy. Her uniform often looked the same way a bit rumpled. Her demeanor however was often bright and cheerful in a stark contrast to her name and her appearance.

"Come in," Sam said. She really needed to leave her door open, at least for the first few days. But she had to admit, after the weeks on the planet she enjoyed the quiet of her ready room.

She stood as the door opened. "Hello. I don't believe we've met."

The young doctor walked in and grinned, "No, Captain. We have not met as I've only just arrived but as protocol dictates I present myself to you for that formal introductory but often semi-awkward and somewhat often misinterpreted but ever so brief introduction that will color everything from this point forward that you would think of me good or ill or perhaps otherwise even."

Sam wasn't sure quite how to react to that statement. It both amused and concerned her. As a doctor, Sam expected the other woman to be less ... judgmental. "I see you've already decided what type of person I am and how I will react to your arrival. I find that a little disturbing, I must admit." She indicated the chair opposite her desk. "Please sit and tell me why you have such a low regard for your commanding officers."

Ilse's forehead puckered for a brief moment as she listened to the Commodore words. "Ma'am I do not believe that I have a low regard for my commanding officers in fact I have a high regard for them. If I did not respect them, then I would not have been given the opportunity to serve aboard the Flag ship of the Fleet. As it is one of the highest honors to do so." The doctor then took a seat across from the woman.

"How did you put it ... that I would think of you good, ill or otherwise? Something like that. Yes, first impressions are important, but I don't tend to base all my assumptions about a person on the first meeting." Sam took a seat behind her desk. "Tell me what brings you to the Calypso."

Ilse laughed well maybe giggled was a better word. This was one of the normal questions all new officers were asked, the Doctor thought that perhaps in her next appointment she should just forward a copy of the answers to her new Commanding Officer and skip this instead she answered with "To heal the sick, mend a broken bone now and again, to meet new people, explore new places. the typical stuff people do in space and you, Ma'am why are you in space?"

"Wanderlust," Sam admitted. "I have a fascination with ancient cultures. Starfleet gives me a chance to explore new worlds and ancient civilizations. So far it's been quite an adventure."

Ilse looked at York "Well, then it sounds like I came to the right place, Captain. Exploration, old dead people to look into. Yes, it does indeed sound intriguing." Ilse felt full of nervous anxiety and it probably showed as giddiness, arrogance or even something else.

"What are you nervous about?" Sam asked. She couldn't help notice how the woman fidgeted, or the anxiety emanating from the doctor. Was it that she didn't like reporting in, or was something else causing her behavior?

Ilse chuckled "I guess that my thoughts ran towards the here I am, on the Flagship of the Fleet." She nodded her acceptance of that and then continued "that in itself is well intimidating and as I already said first impressions are everything. I feel well rather awed about being here speaking with you and really nervous. I would hate to get this far and have you decide that I was too happy or even too nervous to serve here." Ilse kept opening her mouth and her thoughts poured out before she could properly stop them.

"I don't generally think of the Calypso as the flagship, either. I'm usually too busy exploring to pay attention to that sort of thing." Sam shrugged. "So please, I would much rather you not think about it, either. I'm a scientist in charge of an explorer. That's my primary focus."

Ilse looked at her Captain. "Yes Ma'am, so do you have any questions for me?"

"I don't have any questions at the moment, but I do have some information to pass on. " Sam said. "Lieutenant Commander LeeAnn Bowen is our former CMO. She's now switched to medical research. Feel free to work with her if you wish. You can help her with her research, or you can ask her to help you, if you need an extra pair of hands. This is experimental, so I'd like your input from time to time on how you think having this new department works."

"Interesting. Medical research is a separate department onto itself?" Ilse asked her forehead puckered for a brief second in thought "and Dr. Bowen was the former CMO, why did she simply not ask for an assistant CMO. I have no personal problems working for or with someone else." Ilse's smile stayed plastered on her face but a touch of concern entered her mind. That concern was of her exact question. Ilse made an excellent assistant she had been doing it for some while and would have made a good asset to the team as is she now felt a bit isolated and unsure about what to think of this or her new assignment. She pushed it away rapidly though as things always occurred and personnel moved around.

"Talk to her about it. If you two want to work something out, I"ll be happy to go along with it," Sam said.

Ilse smiled "Yes Ma'am. I will do that. Any thing else that I can answer for you?" the new doctor asked

As Ilse stood to prepare to depart she paused and smiled once more, her tone gentle and kind. "Commodore York, if I may be so bold as to suggest that you speak with a counselor about the small problem of acceptance of your position, your title and the fact that you are in charge of the Fleet Flag ship that you have." With that Ilse left.

Sam chuckled at the doctor's comment. Just because she preferred to be out exploring to the pomp and paperwork of being the flagship commander didn't mean she needed to see a counselor.
