Mission: Revenge
ON
As her position on the ship was not a critical one, Maria spent much of the first day sitting in her room going over everything that happened on the planet. So much of it still made no sense to her and some of it bothered her tremendously.
After everything that happened, she had a strong desire to learn how to use a staff as a weapon. She'd found it so useful on the planet. There was one person, the man she'd fought with, who seemed to know what he was doing and she wondered if he would be willing to teach her. She sifted through the personnel files until she found him and sent him a message.
"Do you know much about fighting with a staff and if so, would you be willing to help me learn?"
She signed it Maria.
"I know a thing or two, I would be honored to teach a lady. He reply with the signng of 'Hans'
Munich thought for a few momnts on the subject and took a PADD to arrange time on the Holodeck, it was not a breech of Protocol for him to look up her past 'time slots' on the Holodeck to find a trend. He wouldnot dare to delve into what she did on them as that is private; however, he could find a time that she used and suggest it to her?
[Munich to Delgado] Munich began. [I have a time on the Holodeck you might like, 1800 hours that I could be available for a lesson?]
"Delgado here. That would be perfect. What do you want me to bring?" she asked. He couldn't see the grin that spread across her face at the thought of learning how to use her staff. And at having Hans teach her.
=^= Yourself, some loose slacks and to for easy movement and a willingness to have some fun. =^= Munich informed. =^= I will make sure to have everything needed including some strong sticks. =^=
"Great! I'm always up for a little fun." There was a definite hint of laughter in her voice. "Loose clothing and you'll bring the big sticks. Got it."
=^= See you then. =^= Munich said.
[Holodeck Two]
Munich had on a light cotton shirt and khaki pants as he was setting up a type of soft dirt ring with benchs outside the ring, lots of room to move about and the medium warm day in the Brazilian area of Earth.
Munich as plenty of water for them and a small band that would supply some background music to help with rhythm of his teaching her the staff.
Maria dressed in a pair of loose-fitting slacks and a t-shirt and headed to the holodeck.
"Hi," she said, smiling cheerfully when the door opened and she spotted Hans. She walked over to the ring and looked it over carefully. "This looks interesting."
"Hello." Munich said as he looked over at Maria. "It is not unlike one I trained at in my youth." He informed. "The Master that taught me said to master the staff you need to have a type of rhythm in your head to be able to move and not telegraph your attacks."
"Like salsa?" she asked curiously.
"Only second to a tango." Munich joked. "The key is to have the music up here..." He tapped his temple. "Your body will keep in time with the music and it will flow through the use." He smiled. "The style I tend to use is very unique and not as popular as some but it works." He offered a hand. "Care to step into the lesson Maria..." He tilt his head. "I can still call you Maria right?"
"Claro," she said, taking his hand. "It is my name." She grinned at him. "You also know the tango? That is not a dance I learned. Where I come from, Latin is the only type of dance."
"I thought Tango vas Latin?" His German accent coming out when confused and leading her into the circle. "I learned in Brazil?"
Maria's cheeks flushed. "My family doesn't consider Iberian dances as Latin. Sorry." To get things back on topic she continued. "So, what is it we're learning?"
"The staff." Munich said as he picked up one of the two he had with him. "The style is based upon Capoera, a Brazilian style that has a lot to do with rhythm, the constant movements are meant to help in the fighting by partly distracting the opponant." He smiled. "It iz like combat dancing if done correctly." He gave her a small explanation.
"Well, some forms of dancing -- like the Paso Doble -- are forms of fighting, so it makes sense," she said. "So, where do we begin?"
"Let s goover the basic moves with a staff; the common blocks and attacs as a basis." Hans explained. "Den we can improvise with some slow what we call 'chess moves..." He grin. "Such as I come in wide sweep slowly and you counter slowly. It gives time to think while at normal speed much less time to train the counter move. we start slow and build?"
"We definitely start slow," Maria said. "I need to get the basics before we take this any faster."
Munich placed the staff down and moved closer to Maria offering his hands for a dance. "If we are to fight together let us dance together; learn how the other moves since we are learning together I need to see how well you ... dance?"
Maria gave Hans a half-shy, half-teasing smile as she took his hands. "Definitely. I'd like to see your ... moves."
"I am not one to disappoint." Munich has a look in his eye. "Your wish is my command." He said as he started the first steps of a salsa dance. "First the dance he said just before the first extension move. "Then the staff..."
Maria laughed as she took a few steps towards him, a wicked glint in her eye. "First one battle, and then another."
"Pleasure of the dance then the battle begins." Munich winked an eye.
Maria executed a few intricate steps that brought her in close to Hans. "As you wish."
