"I don't see anyone...Maybe we crashed or something?" Alexandra asked looking back to Samantha.
[NEW]
"Wouldn't we be injured if we crashed?" Sam asked. "I don't know. It doesn't seem logical and yet here we are."
"Yes...I guess that makes sense. We need to figure out how we got here and who else we came with. I mean this is an awful big place to keep just three people." Alexandra commented.
"Yes, but we've got a good thousand or more right now," Sam said. "Most appear to be in the same state we are."
"How did you?...."Alexandra and pointed her finger at Samantha. "You are a Betazoid! A thousand you say? We must have come from a large ship or colony to come in such great numbers." Alexandra stroked her chin and began to think. "This is beginning to sound more and more like a mass abduction. If I'm right we can't let whoever took us know that we have suspicions, they might end up killing us and others. If we want to find out what happened and get out of here, I think we need to surprise these guys."
"Betazoid?" Sam wasn't quite sure what that was. "I think we should look around, find out what sort of place this is. It feels to empty to be part of some sort of abduction."
"A Betazoid is someone who has empathic and sometimes telepathic abilities. All I know is at some point in my life I must have come across them." Alexandra replied.
What Alexandra said made sense to Sam. She wasn't sure why, or why she had no knowledge of who she was.
"And yet here we are with no memories and nothing to show for them." Damon said as he sat up.
He had been awake for the past couple of minutes but felt it prudent to remain still. With his mind drawing a blank he decided to glean what he could from the other two occupants of this room before 'coming to'.
He pointed to the one woman. "Samantha?" Then pointed to the other "Alexandra?" and then looked down to his wrist for confirmation. "And, Damon." He ran his hands over his face, trying to will his memories back.
"Hi," Sam said, smiling tenderly at Damon. "I'm glad you're awake."
"Yeah..." Damon looked at Samantha and tilted his head to the side. He had no idea who she was but he felt like he ought to. More than that, he was struck by an almost overwhelming need to protect her.
He turned his attention to the other woman...nothing, but he did note one similarity. "You aren't the only one with an eye feeding you information." He tapped the side of his head.
"Hey, there he is. Let me check your vitals and make sure you are okay." Alexandra placed her hand on his neck, then his temples looking him over with her eye. His vitals appeared to be returning to normal. "You look good to me. You were a little cold earlier so we wrapped you up."
"Thank you."
"What does your eye tell you?" Sam asked him.
"Somehow I don't think my eye is telling me how to heal someone." He stood up from the ground and made his way over to the corner of the room where he had spotted something from earlier. He picked up what looked to be a two handed sledgehammer with tilling tines on the back. It had to be a farming tool but Damon had no interest in cultivating fields. The weight felt good in his hands as he hefted it a few times.
"You wield that like a fighter," Sam said, getting up and walking over to look at the tool. "Although I'm not sure if that is the weapon's primary function."
Alexandra had been studying his eye as Sam and Damon talked. "Hmmm, whoever did this to you is probably from the same faction as those who gave me this eye. Without a mirror I can't compare the similarities but I can't say I have ever seen anything like this before....then again I just learned my own name.
Still, I don't know why a farmer would need an implant in his eye, unless it feeds information on the land."
"I'm no farmer, at least I don't think I am. The first thing I wanted when I regained consciousness was a weapon, the second I thought it my eye started highlighting objects lying around that might be useful. I don't know why, but I know dozens of ways to incapacitate someone with this." Damon looked at the two with an expression that suggested they knew what his role probably was.
"A fighter, a doctor and an archeologist....The combination seems odd and has no logic as to why we are together." Alexandra replied followed by a pause.
"And for some reason you guys seem to remember the basics of what you do, I have no idea about how to deal with anything beyond basic injuries, yet I know a lot about how people think, react, and are built physiologically. I don't see why anyone except a doctor or a shrink would need to know things like that."
"I'd call it more...I don't know, instinct? This," He said, hefting the makeshift weapon "feels right. Then again maybe I am a farmer after all. All I know for sure is that i'm pretty sure i'd tear the head off anyone that tries to hurt her" He motioned to Samantha, then looked back to Alexandra "and you and I share some kind of similar eye implant."
Knowing that she had Damon to protect her made Sam feel warm and happy. Instinct told her she could trust him with her life. And she also knew that she, too, would do whatever she could to protect Damon.
She put a hand on Damon's arm. "Should we go outside and have a look around? I'd like to see if the other buildings are as empty as this one. And I'd like to see what the others look like."
"Only if we all go together. Stick together as a group." He nodded.
Alexandra nodded in agreement then chuckled. "You two make a cute couple."
Sam's hand on Damon's arm became a bit more proprietary. Yes, she felt like they made a very good couple. "Okay, let's see what we have out there."
