[USS Calypso]

While both the Jefferson and the Calypso were in the same system, Sam wanted to meet with her "other self" to see how she was doing and to touch base. The first time the two met on Starbase Typhon was both uncomfortable and revealing. To learn that there were two Samantha Yorks, one from a parallel universe, was a shock. To learn that not only was SHE the misplaced Sam, her family -- or rather the other Sam's family -- was still alive. Sam was grateful she had Damon to help her deal with the realization. Sam still didn't want to to recall the memories her "twin" had of growing up with her family.

In truth, with everything that had passed since their last meeting, Sam had mostly forgotten about the details of their encounter. But now, with the two ships again so close, she wanted to talk to her other self.

She contacted Sam on the Jefferson and arranged for an hour when they could meet, along with Damon and Curzon.

[USS Jefferson, Senior Officer's Quarters]

'You sure you want to do this?' asked Bennett as he walked out of the bathroom. The call that had come through was unexpected to say the least. That the Calypso and Jefferson were in the sector was unusual - though these were unusual times with the disappearance of a Starbase into thin air. Given the uncomfortable nature of their last encounter with Captain York, he was not much looking forward to it, mostly out of concern for Sam.

It must be downright weird to know there was another person who looked exactly like herself wandering about living a completely different life, with a different personality. Bennett suppressed the heeby-jeebies as he thought about it.

Sam put her arms around Curzon's neck and kissed him. "Put it down to morbid curiosity. I can't say I envy her -- the other me -- I've never fancied command and I'm not too fond of her choice in men." She gave Curzon an impish grin. "I definitely got the better bargain there. But there's also a connection -- kindof like what I expect twins to have. We connect on a very basic level, she and I. I want to see if it was just the initial meeting or if there really is some sort of connection. Now that we've both adjusted to it, it might be nothing, or it might be that we do share a sort of bond. I'd like to meet her...them and see."

Wrapping his own arms around the small of her back, he nodded his acceptance - though not his understanding. 'I'll be right with you,' he smiled. His mind wandered to how he would react if there was a doppelgaenger of himself wandering about the galaxy. It was hard to fathom really. 'Shall we then?'

Sam nodded and stepped back, slipping her arm through Bennett's. They were meeting in a private suite on the Athena Shipyards, neutral territory where they wouldn't cause too many strange looks and unwarranted gossip. "Thank you for coming with me."

He smiled, 'I'd not miss this for all the tea in China.'

[USS Calypso, Senior Officer's Quarters]

Damon was nearly overwhelmed by the work he had stacked on his desk. Crew transfers and Senior Officer applications for the Ontario lay stacked on the solid maple credenza; all had to be looked over and approved within the next few weeks.

He was looking over the applications for chief engineer when a chime sounded. Damon looked over to the antique clock and took note of the hour. ~Time to go~ He thought. He really didn't have the time to take off, however, he put down the PADDs and turned of his monitor without another thought. Some things were more important than work, and this was one of them.

"Ready to go?" He asked as he poked his head into the bedroom.

"As ready as I'll ever be," she said, walking over to him. She was dressed in her standard uniform although it had taken her a half hour to get ready because of nerves. She stood close to him and put her head on his shoulder, taking strength from the physical contact. "You'd think I would be ready for this. How long's it been? A year?" She shook her head. "I'm glad you'll be with me."

"I wouldn't be anywhere else." He kissed the top of her head. "You'll get through this and become a better person for it. Of that I'm sure."

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger," she said, only half joking. It had been especially true of late. However, she did not think this encounter would be too bad. Now that she'd adjusted to the reality of her existence, a part of her was curious to see how this meeting would go.

She glanced over at Damon's desk. "Have you settled on an engineer? At least you've got a few months before they send you out again."

He waved it off. "That's a problem for another day."

Sam nodded. She stopped before they walked out of their quarters and gave him a hug. "For luck," she whispered as the two made their way to the transporter room to beam down to Athena Shipyards.

[Athena Shipyards]

The room was obviously in the VIP section. It was luxurious. Plush couches wood accents and warm earth tones. A fresh fruit plate sat on the accent table with a note from Admiral Burke. I hope you have an enjoyable visit.

'Is that a wish or a threat?' asked Bennett as he picked up the note left by Burke before putting it back down. Looking around the room it seemed as good a place as any for the two Sams to meet. It oozed comfort. Somehow it made it seem an effort to become agitated or tense. Perhaps that was the intention. He picked up an apple and sank into one of the seats.

"Time will tell," Sam said, chuckling. She picked up a small Betazoid fruit and took a seat next to Curzon.

Not long after, Sam and Damon materialized in the room. "Hello," Sam said to the other two before looking around. She saw the plate of fruit and walked over to it, curious who it was from.

Damon picked up the card and read it. "Someday I'd like to know what her role in all this has been." He set it back in place and took a seat near the others.
