Quite A Party!

Posted on Wed Feb 6th, 2013 @ 3:59pm by Commander Alexandra Vance & Lieutenant Khalpek & Senior Chief Petty Officer Helga (Hel) Lowe

1,647 words; about a 8 minute read

Mission: A Pirate's Life
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: Immediately following "Compounding the Problem."

Once the doors to the ready room slid shut Alexandra spun around quickly facing the female Klingon.

"Let me guess, you are here to replace the counselor? I think I may have frightened the last one back into his childhood." Vance said with a snide half grin.

"That would be an incorrect guess." Khalpek said flatly, not volunteering any other information.

Alexandra's grin faded. "Fine where are your transfer orders?"

"Those would be in the duffle bag that I left on the shuttle you tried to blow up."

"You do know when I said prepare for transport, that means come prepared to be brought aboard. I would have expected this from a first year cadet...."

Vance sighed.

=^=Vance to bridge, have our new arrival's belongings beamed directly to the ready room.=^=

Seconds later a duffel bag appeared between the two officers.

"Well, you didn't give me time, frankly." she said, kneeling to open the bag and retreiving the aforementioned PADD.

She stood and offered the PADD to the Commander.

Alexandra began to scan over the PADD. "In my experience it is not commonplace for klingons to delve into the studies of science...." Alexandra replied leaving the statement open to interpretation.

"While I'm sure that your experiences have been wide and varied, I find it doubtful that they are all encompassing. It would only be logical to assume that a technologically advanced race like the Klingon Empire, Kahless be praised, would have at least a few scientists kicking about. Don't you?"

And now she thinks she's a vulcan."I suppose.....the universe is changing and so are the ways a Klingon seeks honour."

"Changing. I see. I guess faster than light travel and cloaking technology were a gift from the flying spaghetti monster and that science is a totally new thing for us. I can see your point."

"You know...I am not familiar with that entity, perhaps you could enlighten me...infact I would like you to gather all information you can on the flying spaghetti monster and how it has revolutionized Klingon technology and science. You will have the report to me by tomorrow. If you have nothing else, Lieutenant I believe you have a task." she replied sharply.

"With all due respect ma'am, I find your racist remarks and childish behavior unbecoming an officer, let alone one of your status. If you continue this pattern of behaviour and abuse, I will file an official complaint with Starfleet."

"Get in line Lieutenant." Vance growled. "My remarks were not racist but merely based upon the observations I have made throughout my years in Starfleet. In your own words would it not be LOGICAL to assume I would be led to such conclusions based on these events?"

"Ok. So you will continue to be amazed at a Klingon that can speak in sentences, and I will be amazed that a woman managed to be elevated to a position higher than yeoman. Sound about right?"

"Are we being sexist now Lieutenant?" she asked.

"Well, I just thought since you were stating your ignorance as fact based merely on 'observation' that I should follow in like manner. Feel free to file a complaint."

Alexandra took the PADD and tossed it into the Lieutenant's chest. "Listen here you ridgeless nerd, if I wanted your input on how to do my job I would have asked for it, until then you focus your mind on your duties and not mine!" Vance replied in a raised tone.

The PADD bounced off her chest and fell harmlessly to the deck.

"So now, on top of being a bigot, you're going to further compound the problem by calling names like a 6 year old? How exactly do you expect anyone to take you seriously as a staff officer?" Khalpek asked. "I also have to question the decision to leave you in charge. Where is Commodore York anyway?"

"Commodore York is in mourning on the holodeck." Vance said slowly approaching. "And those who know me, tend to take me VERY seriously." she said coldly staring deeply into the Klingon's eyes.

"I think they take you more as a cautionary tale, but that's just my observation." Khalpek replied, standing her ground.

"Well then...let me give you a word of caution." Vance gripped the klingon's shoulder and thrust her knee into her sternum. "Take me seriously yet?" she said with a smile from ear to ear.

Khalpek fell to one knee and remained there as she fought to breath and maintain her temper. Shock at being physically assaulted clouded her thoughts and prevented her from reacting immediately. A small 'honor blade' found itself in her right hand. Her arm moved completely on instinct as she struck out and inserted the blade into Vance's torso.

Vance staggered back surprised by the blow. You idiot?! How could you not see that coming? She dropped to one knee assessing the damage that had been done.

Khalpek tapped her commbadge, "Medical emergency in the ready room." she said around ragged attempts to catch her breath.

Vance placed all her weight on her back feet and rushed the Klingon, spearing the woman into the couch. She rose to her knees and tapped her commbadge. "Medical teams stand down, I'm perfectly fine." Vance grinned down at the woman.

"Now where were we?" she said striking the woman in the shoulder.

Khalpek decided that while her life was not in danger, this was clearly a 'self defence' situation. She determined to do as little harm as was absolutely neccessary to stop the attack. From her prone position on the couch, she kicked forward with both feet, striking Vance in the chest and driving her across the room.

She stood from the couch and took a basic Mok'Bara defensive stance. "I have no wish to harm you Commander, but I will if I have to."

Vance jumped back to her feet brushing off debris from a broken table. "You sure have a funny way of showing it Lieutenant." Vance replied grabbing an object off Samantha's desk, rushing the klingon and striking her in the head.

Khalpek absorbed the blow to the head. She was Klingon so this was not exactly a problem. She put her best into a punch aimed at the blossoming dark spot on Vance's tunic.

Vance hit the ground hard. She could feel the onset of vertigo coming on. There was no advantage to continuing this brawl, she had lost...

"Lieutenant." She said coughing getting on all fours. "You are dismissed."

"Medical emergency in the ready room. Commander Vance needs immediate medical attention." Khalpek called again.

She could tell from the pallor that Vance's face had adopted that she was hurt worse than she was letting on. She took her outer tunic off and balled it up. She knelt beside the Commander and pressed the balled tunic to the Commander's torso, stemming the bleeding till help could arrive.

"I told you I was fine." Vance growled. She tapped her commbadge. "Belay that order, I can tend to myself." she said placing herself on the only couch not disturbed by the altercation.

"You are dismissed."

Helga came bustling into the ready room. "I know you cancelled the order, but I was already here so I... Oh, dear." She looked from one woman to the other. "Captain York is not going to be happy about you messing up her office. No, indeed."

She walked purposefully to Vance. "You should know better than to anger a Klingon. Lay down on the floor so you don't bleed all over everything and let me fix this." She helped Vance to the floor -- allowing no resistance -- and began to scan her wound.

Every time Vance tried to argue or push Helga away, the nurse slapped her hand. "Keep that up and I'll have to put you to sleep and carry you out on a stretcher. Then everyone will see what you've been up to. Now, BEHAVE." She pulled out a dermal regenerator and began to knit thelayes of skin together. It was a slow process. Once, she pulled out a needle and thread and held it up. "If you refuse to cooperate, I'll use this instead."

"And I will slit your throat with it if you do not let me up." Vance said trying to get up but her muscles were too weak.

Helga stared hard at Vance. "I can do this the easy way or the old-fashioned way. The easy way is you hold still and I repair the damage and let you go. The hard way is I pour a bottle of scotch over the wound and take my needle and thread and stitch you up. I will add a muscle paralyzer so you won't be able to move. Then I'll leave you here to think about your actions. Naughty Commander, you know better than to threaten a nurse."

"Is she always like this or has she suffered some sort of recent head trauma?" Khalpek asked the nurse.

"She has not been here long," Helga said. "From what little I know, this is the way she is."

Helga pulled out a long needle. " Now, are you going to behave?" she asked Vance.

"Do you want to die?" she shot back.

Helga wasn't going to argue with the Executive Officer. She put the large needle back in her bag. "No, I do not wish to die." She brought out a hypospray and shot Vance in the neck. "But I'm not going to let you die, either. Now, be a good girl and let me work."

As soon as Vance fell asleep, Helga turned to the Klingon. "You're next, so sit down and wait your turn."
