Mission:
Subjugation
Location: Transporter Room
Daniels sighed, deeply. Immigration, and Customs were in an uproar over him. How the hell was he supposed to know that Jill was wanted under several warrants, from the Cardassian Union, for smuggling. And Korr'ha's application was being thrashed, and torn, by her family's house.
"You'll write, won't you?" Jill asked, softly.
"To every damn Admiral, diplomat, and politician I can." Daniels said. "Stran said he'd help. He's filing counter-complaints against the Klingon family, in question. There is also some question about a distinct lack of evidence, regarding the Cardassian Union."
Jill smiled. "You know just what to say, sometimes, Daniel." She said, with a nod.
"Is Cassandra okay?" Korr'ha asked.
Daniels nodded. "She's taking some time.... to meet the family." He said. "On Vulcan. I doubt that will go well."
The transport-fade-in noise cut the conversation off. A slight, and, to an eye trained at dealing with Vulcans, annoyed, Vulcan woman materialized.
"Uhm. Hello." She said, shakily. "I do not think either of you are Captain York."
Daniels watched her, carefully. "No, ma'am." He said, immediately noticing the Lieutenant pips on her collar. "Captain York is conducting a crew briefing. All senior staff were ordered to report to the briefing room about 3 minutes ago."
"Oh. In that event, could you give me directions to the Briefing Room?" The Vulcan woman asked. Her Vulcan tendencies were taking hold. Apparently something had her briefly unnerved. Daniels briefly pondered it's relevance.
"Ah, yes." Daniels said, absentmindedly, looking back to Jill, and Korr'ha. "Three decks up, half the ship over. That's two lefts, four straights, a right, a left, and a straight. Fifth door on the left."
"Thank you." The Vulcan woman said, nodding.
"You didn't introduce yourself." Daniels added.
"Lieutenant T'Lada, apparently assigned as Chief of Science." The woman said, slightly discouraged, or disappointed.
"Well, I'm Ensign-" Daniels began, but was cut-off, by the sound of the door closing. Turning towards the door, he noted, that the woman was gone. He raised an eyebrow.
Jill smacked him up the backside of the head.
"WHAT?" Daniels asked.
"I know you well enough to know that you were disappointed at not getting to see her bottom." Jill said, sharply.
Daniels scowled.
The door opened.
"Ensign Daniels, sir?" A man's voice said.
Daniels turned. "Ah... yes... Forensic Grunt fourty... four?" Daniels asked.
"That's Doctor Marley." The man corrected. "Your assignment orders have just come through." He added, handing Daniels a padd.
Daniels read it over, with a slightly annoyed look.
"They want me." He said, with a slightly annoyed grunt. "To work. In a forensics lab. Under Lieutenant..." He turned back, towards the door. "T'Lada." He finished. "Effective immediately? But I was issued leave."
The man shrugged. "Apparently it's been revoked."
Jill sighed. "This is unfortunate."
Daniels nodded. "It smells. Like Bovine Scatology."
"Could you clarify that?" Jill asked.
"It will be significantly more difficult for me to assist either of your refugee claims, if I'm on Active Duty." Daniels noted. "Especially if the Calypso has an urgent mission."
"Ma'am? Sir? The Transport pad from the planet reads fully repaired. Clearance for Mrs. Daniels, and the young one have been cleared." The transporter operator noted.
Daniels winced, at the use of his last name.
"Mrs. Daniels? I believe you are mistaken, sir. We aren't married yet. That was supposed to occur, down planet." Jill noted, sharply.
"Apologies, Ms.-"
"Just shut up." Daniels said. "Absolutely no respect for a man's desire for privacy, here." He muttered.
Jill kissed him on the cheek.
"They're resending the clearance, sir." The transporter operator noted.
Daniels winced.
Jill took Korr'ha's hand, and walked to the transporter Pad.
"Some how. Some way. I'll get you back." Daniels said. "I promise."
Jill winked. "Counting on it." She said, with a smile.
Daniels frowned, and turned back, to see the Lab Tech still sitting there.
"Welcome to the Forensics team, Mister Daniels." The man noted. "Or, should I say, Lab Grunt number 57?"
"Shut. The hell. Up." Daniels said, with a sharp tone. "Trust me. At this point, I'm not above spending time in the brig for assaulting a junior officer. With a chair."
"There isn't a chair in this room." The man noted.
"The transporter operator is sitting on one." Daniels corrected.
"It's welded to the floor." The man countered.
"Yes, but not very well. It wouldn't take much, really. Just a really pissed off Security Officer."
"You mean Lab Technician."
"Have I mentioned I don't like you?"
"Feeling is mutual. Get used to it."
