Mission: Subjugation
Daniels sat, at the edge of what constituted the communal bed, that Jil Ala, he, and little Tramira, had slept on, in turn. Well, not so much Tramira. She was more or less, willing to share.
He smiled, as the two women slept peacefully. He stretched, as he watched for unwelcome issues entering the area.
Robert had decided it was finally time, to stop wasting time. He casually strolled in Daniels' general direction.
"Chuck." Tyler said, with a nod. "Been a while."
Daniels nodded. "Indeed, Mister Lee. Indeed." Daniels said. "How're you, Bruce?"
Cute. Tyler thought to himself. He nodded to the sleeping Cardassian, cuddling with the young Klingon. "Where'd you pick them up?" Tyler asked.
"Here, and there. You know me, Bruce. Can't help but worry about a damsel in distress." Daniels said, chuckling.
"That's not what Janine would have said." Tyler noted.
Daniels looked sharply up at Tyler.
"That is, however, all I will say on the subject." Tyler said.
Daniels dropped the rock he had been holding. He looked over Tyler's shoulder.
"What?" Tyler asked.
"York." Daniels said.
"York," Sam agreed, walking up to the two men. She looked down at the rock on teh ground. "Something you'd like to tell me, Chuck?"
"Nothing I doubt you already don't know. Like, how, in this place, you do things you wouldn't normally do, to survive." Daniels said. "And keep your voice down, please. Both of you. Tramira is a light sleeper."
Tyler shrugged. "Whatever."
"Tramira?" Sam asked softly. She couldn't fail to recognize the name as that of her former Chief Security Officer.
"The little one." Daniels said, nodding in the direction of the two sleeping women. "I thought it was appropriate."
Sam raised an eyebrow. "How did you acquire her?" Having adopted a number of strays of her own, she was in no position to criticize, but she was curious.
"Her father was about as close to a good friend as I've made here." Daniels said. "Nobody else wanted to take care of her, and she has a rather unique talent at being unnoticed, while 'appropriating' things. I'd be lost without her, at this point."
Sam nodded, understanding. "I found Cassandra ad Stran. They're looking for you."
"I've been looking for a place where I wouldn't get killed." Daniels said. "I was looking for them, originally. I've had a bit of a change of priorities. Having to live with Klingons for a brief bit does that to you."
"Living here does that to you," Sam amended. "I'm the leader of Sector Five. It's a safe place for you and your family. I've been looking for the rest of the crew since we got here. Do you know where any others are?"
Tyler waved a hand at Sam. "Yeah. Me. I'm here." Tyler said, pointedly. "As to the others, the few that I've found... they didn't last very long..."
Sam turned sharply tao face him. "Who?"
"Janine Donovan, an NCO from Operations, and a Security Ensign I hadn't had the opportunity to meet yet." Tyler noted.
Sam relaxed slightly. It wasn't Damon. "What happened?"
"Some kind of explosive device. I don't have one." Tyler said, with a frown.
"And inter-cranial IED," she said, nodding. "I've seen the results of a few of those. And heard the propaganda about them. Unfortunately there's truth behind the threats. At least she died quickly and didn't suffer long." When the IED went off, it killed the person instantly. Plus anyone within a three-foot radius. "I'm sorry," she said to Robert. Then, looking from him to Daniel, she continued. "Can I talk you both into coming to Sector Five?"
Tyler shrugged. "Sure, whatever."
"Correction;" Daniels said, with a hand gesture to the two sleeping women. "You can talk the four of us into it."
"Okay, then the four of you," Sam amended. "You'll find protection in Sector Five. And as soon as I get all of us together, I'm going to find a way out of here."
Daniels nodded, and gently sat down next to the two slumbering women. Quietly, he awoke the two of them.
"You'd almost swear they were his wife, and child." Tyler whispered to Samantha. "I've watched him for a few days now. He certainly treats the little one like she was his."
She watched Daniels for a moment. "At least something good has come out of this." After Daniels had spoken to the women, Sam nodded. "Let's go. I want to get you settled in before curfew."
"Okay." Daniels said, with a nod.
"This is Samantha?" Tramira whispered.
Daniels nodded.
Tramira's eyes widened, and she bowed her head, slightly.
The Cardassian woman watched the interaction, and simply nodded. She followed Daniels, silently. Her steps did not even make a sound. Tramira was even quieter.
Sam smiled gently at the little girl. "I'm pleased to meet you." Her smile included the Cardassian woman. "Both of you. Come on, this area is getting too dangerous."
