"Okay, back to business," Vanya continued. "I'll send you the information I have on the missing ships. The Von Braun was supposed to pass the Altara Nebula. It disappeared within a few hours either side. It's a place to start. There are half a dozen M-class planets in the area as well. And a dozen uninhabitable ones. They could have crashed on any one of them. And there's always the chance of a spatial anomaly. If they hit one of those, there's no telling where they disappeared. it's not much, lover, but it's a start."
Damion looked over the file and went over the information. "Whats this? Civilian vessel on a three hour mission last stated it was detouring to get a better look at the Altara Nebula. Last know communication verified its location and suddenly reported its transponder suddenly stopped working. A ship was dispatched to find it and reported no sign of the ship. Later the investigating ship was also lost." He looked over to Ronnie and then back to Vanya. "Hey V? Between you, me, and Ronnie... Is SFI working on any weapons that can disable a ships electrical systems and backups in one shot?"
"Not in this area," Vanya said, eyeing Ronnie skeptically. "Does she know what you used to do? I mean, when you worked with me."
"Not everything, but soon." Damion said as he looked over to Ronnie and then back again to Vanya. "Speaking of 'work prior to the Calypso', any luck on that other project? Finding.. you know? The Nightshade?" He was still a bit hesitant about bring it up. To go into the explanation of the Nightshade would uncover details about him that even he didn't want to bring up in front of Ronnie.
"Afraid not, sweetie. I have feelers out, but nothings bitten yet." Vanya looked at Ronnie again. "Anything else you need from me before I let you start explaining the birds and bees to your girlfriend?"
Damion responded with a laugh and then smiled. "No, Vanya. What you got me will do just fine. Thanks for the intel. I'll start piecing things together on this end. Be Safe, alright." He cleared his throat and then leaned over to hit the button to end the transmission, but froze. He looked back to Vanya, with a bit of a smirk. "Oh... and try to actually get out of the Crypt once and a while. Don't turn into a hermit."
Vanya blew him a kiss just before the transmission went dark.
Ronnie stood there for several moments, really not sure what to make of the conversation. "Damion? If you unlock the door I'll let you get back to your work," she said quietly.
"Ronnie? Whats wrong?" Damion said as he looked over to her with a puzzled look. "I told you I wanted to be open and honest with you, and when I do you suddenly give me the cold shoulder and don't want to deal with it. What gives?"
"You're obviously busy and I'm in the way," she explained. "That ... person ... just sent you some important information. So why is my leaving giving you the cold shoulder?" And she really wasn't sure the open and honest should involve his relationship with the woman on the other end of the comm channel.
"Because the information isn't what's making you want to leave." Damion said softly and then looked at her suspiciously. "It's her isn't it? It's Vanya?"
"It's both. I really don't want to see you talk to your former girlfriend and I shouldn't be here when you're working on something important for the Captain."
Damion let out a sigh and then looked at her. "Ronnie, I told you. She isn't a former girlfriend. She is a very flirty friend that is more like a little sister to me." He looked at her and then looked back to the monitor. He brought up the file Vanya sent him and then looked back over to her. "Besides, I could use your help to look over the report because you might see something I miss... something science related."
Ronnie looked at him for a moment, then nodded. "Okay." She sat down across from him. "What do you want me to look over?"
He looked at her for a moment and waited for a smile. A small sign that she was okay. Damion just cleared his throat and picked up a PADD. He transfered the data from his computer to the PADD and then slide it over. "Thats all the reports that she gave me. Scans, Charts, and what not. Go through the scans and see if you spot something that they all have in common."
Damion got up and then walked to the replicator. Maybe he blew it with her. He could have pushed too hard and turned her away. "Coffee, Black." He said into the replicator and then turned around to look at Ronnie. "Want anything?"
"Yeah." Some reassurance, but she wasn't going to ask. She'd deal with it later. "Jumbleberry milkshake."
"Computer, Jumbleberry Milkshake." The computer replicated the drink. Damion grabbed the drinks and then walked back to the desks. He put them both down, each on in front of the person who wanted it, and then sat down himself. He looked back at Ronnie and just looked at her. He was hoping for some kind of feeling or sign from her to know what was going on in her head. His concern over their relationship outweighed his current assignment.
She took a long sip of her milkshake and looked at Damion. "So, what do you need my help with?" She was trying to get the nerve to ask him about Vanya.
"Like I said, go over the scans, charts, and the other stuff to see if you find anything in common. Maybe your scientific head will spot something Starfleet Intel and I don't see." He took a sip of his coffee and then cleared his throat a bit, smiling at her. "Wouldn't that be something? You figure it out before they do."
"If it's scientific in nature, it wouldn't surprise me at all," Ronnie joked. "But chances are there's something else going on here. I'll take a look, but don't be disappointed if I don't find anything."
She wasn't sure what was going on, and Damion wasn't very forthcoming, so she began to search through the data. At least she could help look -- adn thus focus on something other than the awkward situation at hand.
