Mission:
Subjugation
Location: Mining Colony Green Zone
Timeline: Day 28
When Tyler had first stumbled upon the Bolian-controlled Green Zone, he had been briefly warmed to see Daniels. Briefly.
He had, however, been extremely shocked, by Daniels' harsh treatment of Janine Donovan. Deciding to hang back, and observe, he watched, slightly horrified, when Daniels Attacked her.
He had been shocked, further to see her dumped into the pit, unceremoniously.
He had spent 27 days, being shuffled from green zone, to green zone, more or less, surviving on whatever scraps the various gangs hadn't eaten, and he had hoped Daniels would be someone to rely upon.
But Daniels had found his own family already. The Klingon girl followed him like a Daughter following her only parent. Tyler was even more shocked, when Daniels entered the Yellow zone, adjacent to the one he had just left, and cycled off in to the work zone, only four hours after Tyler got off shift. So he and Daniels weren't even on the same shifts.
And then, Janine Donovan, and several almost deceased Bolians ignited, turning spoiled food scraps, and another almost deceased Bolian, into charcoal.
Daniels didn't even look back. He didn't care.
Tyler was stunned. This wasn't...
...this couldn't...
...Why did Janine Donovan explode?
He had spent 27 days, following the same schedule everyone else had, but there were few guards enforcing it. He hadn't understood that yet. He missed Maddison. He'd never get to see her again. She was gone.
He decided to ask someone.
"That's funny, boy. Don't you know about the explosives?" The only Bolian who had decided to listen to him, had asked.
"What explosives?" Tyler asked.
"We've got 'em right here." The Bolian noted, indicating the back of Tyler's skull. "You aren't in a green zone, or a red zone, when you are supposed to be, and you explode."
Tyler found this information to be of interest.
He took a seat, off, in the corner.
He missed Maddison.
He'd never get to see her again.
She was gone.
Life didn't matter.
He sat there, and watched three full work shifts come, and go. Daniels didn't even see him, when he came back. Didn't notice him when he left again, either.
Three more diseased Bolians became deceased Bolians, over that time.
And it was then, Tyler realized, that it would be a waste of resources, to implant it in everyone's skull. And they hadn't bothered implanting one in his.
"I hate my life." He said, aloud, to no one in particular.
"Here, here." Said a nearby Bolian, who wandered towards a yellow zone, apparently due for work duty.
