[XO's Office to Brig]
Doctor Bowen left the XO's office, stepped into the turbolift and called out for the deck that the brig is on. She looked at the PADD to read about Getal and Nartu. She has never met them, so she didn't know that they were Cardassians.
Just as the turbolift stopped, she stepped out into the corridor and made her way to the brig. Through the double doors, she found a security officer standing posted next to the doors and one at a console. Leanne approached the young man behind the console and asked to see Ensign Getal.
The security officer leads her to a cell, "Mr. Getal...we have a medical officer here that wants to examine you. Will you allow her?"
"Depends. What race is she?" Tharek asked. Refusing to look up at the officer. He sat, continually looking at the floor.
"Does it really matter? She's human and she treats everybody as equals," the security officer frowned at Getal. "She needs to do her job as she was ordered by the captain..."
"Some people, are more equal than others." Tharek then sighed deeply. "Send her in. Scan, poke and prod to your hearts content."
Leanne swallowed as she watched the security officer hit a button to lower the force field. She walked in carefully and turned to see the force field went back on. In her holster, she pulled out the medical tricorder and looked at the Cardassian. She said, "hello" in Cardassian language and started her scan as she stood less than 2 feet from Getal.
He raised his head and glared at her through darkened eyes. "Do not use my language. I find it disgraceful when another being uses some other races native tongue." He said, obviously knowing that he was being completely and overly sadistic and sarcastic.
"Well, I don't. I see it in a nice way of getting to know someone," she said as she continues the scan without getting any closer to him. "Do you have any symptoms now?"
"Symptoms of what?" Tharek asked, surprisingly politely.
Her tricorder beeped and she looked at it. "Anything out of the ordinary? Headaches? Any pain? Right now, one of your hormone is higher than normal."
"Which hormore, Doctor?" Tharek demanded.
"Versolak. Similar to Cortisol in humans. No wonder you are in a aggressive mood...", Doctor Bowen said as she waited to see if he knows more about his condition.
"Versolak? Never heard of it. Elaborate. Now." Tharek demanded.
"Maybe you are not familiar with the medical terminology. Your body is dumping too much of the hormone for some reason. I will have to do more blood work and scans to find the cause of it...", she said.
He looked at her, wondering what the hell she was talking about. "Wait... Tell me exactly what's wrong with me. In plain and simple terms."
Noticing his aggrevation, she explained, "Your hormone from your brain is producing too much which is causing your aggressive mood."
Tharek buried his head in his hands. He then shouted to the ground, but directed it at the doctor. "Can you fix me?!"
"Yes." She called sickbay to have them transport a special container that contained medicine for Cardiassians. After she received it, she mixed it with a stimulant and set it into the hypospray. "Okay, I'm going to give you an injection and it should work in two minutes."
"And I'll be... Better?" Tharek asked politely, for a change.
"Yes, you will be," Leanne said as she closed the medical kit and stood up straight. "I better get going...have to get back to sickbay. If you need anything, you can call me." Hope my politeness helps even if he has that attitude, she thought when the guard turned the force field off. She stepped through to the other side and the force field came on. She looked over her shoulder, wondering if he has anything else to say before she leaves.
A small silence occured whilst Tharek stood. "... Thank you, doctor." He said, before turning and laying down in his cell.
