The Race for the Lost Treasure

Posted on Fri Oct 21st, 2011 @ 7:55am by Lieutenant Commander Delon Tovan

Yes, that is the name of the new mission that the USS Calypso and her crew is about to embark on. The mission is promising to be a very fun one. There will be something for everyone to do. But, like always it will depend on you the writes just how much fun we have during this mission.

So, here is a brief description of the mission...

While on shore leave, the Captain uncovers a forgotten map to an ancient civilization buried deep in a library's archives. Intrigued, she takes the ship on a quest to find the lost world. But the crew soon learns they are not alone. A band of pirates has also discovered the map and plans to beat the Calypso to the world to loot its treasures.

Can the Calypso get to the planet first and protect whatever treasure awaits them from the privateers? Or will they end up buried and forgotten like the civilization they seek?

Now, that you have had a moment to read the description of the mission allow me to go into a bit more detail about the mission. Since here in the United States Halloween season is upon us this mission is going to follow a bit of a Halloween theme. There will be pirates just like the mission description states but what is not stated in there is that there will also be zombies in this mission.

I know what you are thinking...How are we going to write zombies into the mission? That is totally not Star Trek...? And to be completely honest with you I am not exactly sure how we are going to write them into the mission but I promise you that by the time this mission is done there will be zombies and it will make sense!

So, as we bring the current mission to a close we will start to move forward towards writing posts for the new mission. I will open the mission here this weekend. I will also start the first few posts that will kick us off on this mission this weekend so look forward to it!

Sam has been kind enough to let me be the Mission Chief as long as I allow her to play an archaeologist during this mission and that sounded like a heck of a good deal for me! So, be warned. I like to throw twists and turns! And while I do have a pretty good layout of the mission in my head I am always open to suggestions and changes as we go along so feel free to get in touch with me if you have any suggestions, concerns or just questions in general about the mission.

Anyways, that is all that I have for now when it comes to the mission! But, do keep your eyes open as I will be possibly sending out a few more news items cornering the mission as we get into the weekend.

Signing off!

Lt. Commander Tovan Delon
Chief Operations Officer aka Mission Chief
USS Calypso
