Sheridan had a few minutes before heading back to his quarters and stepped into the Nebula for a "dust off..."
Ted was polishing glasses and putting them away when a guy walked in. He had a look he recognized all too well; it was one he saw a lot in the mirror. He put the glass away and threw the towel over his shoulder. "What can I get you, Lieutenant? I brought some genuine Jack Daniels and Jim Beam from Earth."
"I'll definitely try the Beam, How are things going?"
"They're going well. How about you? You have that look." He pulled out a tumbler and put it on the counter and poured three fingers of bourbon into it before pushing it across to the man. "I remember that look."
Sheridan took a long slow drink and pulled up a stool, "That's the best stuff ever put in a bottle. I'm John." Sheridan held out his hand to his host.
The barkeep took the hand and said, "Ted. So what was her name? And how long were you together?"
"Deloris, but, that was a long time ago."
Ted nodded. "I think I may need one too." He pulled out another tumbler and held it up in his left hand before taking a drink; a gold ring glinted on his finger. "Cheers." He took a small drink and lowered it. Now he was getting the look.
"Anyway, what do you think of the Orion so far?"
Ted smiled. "It's a good ship so far. I'm still reserving judgment for how bored the crew gets. When a crew gets bored, my job gets harder. I still remember Greyhawk on the Andromeda. The guy was an idiot. Stupid idiot went streaking through the corridors every other day."
"Yea, that's not to smart, but definitely gave you guys something to talk about."
Ted smiled and nodded. "Greyhawk could cause more trouble than an entire detachment. He once slept with a seventeen-year-old Admiral's daughter and was nearly court martialled. He would have been if she hadn't been overheard saying she was nineteen."
"Considering who daddy was he's real lucky he wasn't an organ donor."
Ted had to chuckle. "Yeah, but his own grandfather almost killed him for it. But then again, it's Greyhawk we're talking about."
Sheridan finished his drink, "So what plans and events are you thinking about for our crew here on the Orion?"
Ted shrugged his eyebrows and cocked his head. "I was thinking maybe installing some pool tables and dart boards on the second level. Maybe have a pool or poker tournament. But that's all I can think of right now. Until I find someone who plays an instrument, or some people who are interested in acting theatre like Shakespeare, I'm having trouble finding things to do. Then again, I don't know the crew yet." Ted threw back the glass and finished the drink in one.
"I'm sure the entertainment will be first rate, It was good to meet you and I'll be back soon."
Sheridan slid off the stool and headed to his quarters with a friendly wave...
