The Forests of Mythraeli

Jaco Eerden had spent the morning with his colleague going through the engineering duty rosters for the next week. Several of the engineering teams had wanted their shifts moving on both Mak and Jaco's shift and they were in the midst of sorting it all out, but it wasn't as easy as it had initially seemed.
"So Crewman Wenham wants to work in the morning shift on the Wednesday," Jaco explained. "Because she has a counselling appointment in that afternoon, and the counselling department didn't have another appointment available for another week. So who off your shift wants to work an afternoon instead?"
Before Mak had a chance to reply the pair were interrupted as the doors slid open.
"What are you two doing with my duty rosters?"
The voice was that of Warrant Officer Greenfield, the Engineering Coordinator. Jaco felt instantly like a scolded child. "Nothing," he replied. "We just need to swap a couple of people around."
"Yeah he wants his girlfriend on his shift," Mak teased.
"I have not a relationship with her," Jaco protested, looking between Mak and Janet.
"Who is she?" Janet asked, bluntly.
"I do not have a girlfriend," Jaco continued to protest, his slight Dutch accent becoming more pronounced. "I was try to move people around for the appointments."
Mak looked at Janet and whispered, "denial," he said.
She waved the padd in their faces before barking, "I have had a pile of notifications of shift changes. I organise these shifts and you go and mess them around. How am I supposed to my job with your two freshmen interfering?"
Jaco shrugged slightly, saying nothing.
"We're sorry," Mak said and looked at Jaco to vocally agree.
"Do you always speak for everyone?" Janet asked him, before Jaco had a chance to agree.
Mak shook his head. "No, I just think that my friend here should say he is sorry as well." He said.
"I am," Jaco muttered. "Definitely, I didn't realise it causes such a problem."
"Well it does," Janet informed them. "And if you have any other changes I suggest you bring them to me and I will make them."
"Why of course," Mak replied. "May we be dismissed now ma'am?"
"Yes, go and do some real work," Greenfield replied.
Mak nudged Jaco to follow him and headed away from Janet to some unused station along the wall, that one stands at with ones back to the warp core. "Wow pushy, wonder what crawled up her butt and died," Mak whispered to Jaco as he began running checks on all systems.
Janet shook her head as the pair of freshmen wandered away, no doubt to play with more 'paperwork' and cause more problems. Problems she would have to undoubtedly solve.
"That's the first time I've even seen her," Jaco remarked as he started to access the diagnostics system on the computer. "Who does she think she is we're officers!"
The woman walked away towards the warp core and her office, leaving the pair to their business.
"Shall we look her up?" Mak asked playfully.
"Good idea," Jaco replied with a smile. He moved aside to allow the more experienced engineer to get to the terminal. No doubt he knew how to get to the personnel files.
Mak looked around quickly to make sure no one was watching and then sat down at the console. He started accessing personnel database; though he had to be careful not to trigger a security alert.
"Careful of the security," Jaco warned, watching what he was doing.
Tapping at the console Mak quickly found and temporarily disabled the security barriers using maintenance authorisation codes but not his own. He found Janet's and opened it.
"She practically invented the refits for the Galaxy," Jaco commented as he read over her file. "And look there, CinC's commendation for Engineering..."
Mak sighed. "Great, a prodigy." He commented.
"We best not to upset her, otherwise we'll have busted into the crewman in no time," Jaco muttered, his dutch accent coming through a little due to his nervousness. "Turn it off now."
"You're right," Mak said and quickly logged out of the console. He turned to Jaco, "What is
on the agenda, or should I say the To-Do list today?"
"Staying in her good book," Jaco muttered, before looking at his padd. "Communications array, needs a full service and replacement parts after the Lieutenant blew it up."
Mak nodded. "Yeah. To the array," he gestured to the exit.
