Mission: The Forests of Mythraeli
Location: Mythraeli
Timeline: Current

ON

Lizzie was the first to arrive in the shuttle bay. She hadn't been on an away mission yet and this one sounded perfect. A day spent wandering through an untouched forest. For all she knew, they would be the first humanoids to set foot on this moon. She had her pack to take samples and scans and was set to have a grand time wandering through the trees.

Marek walked in with a tool kit in one hand and a holocam in the other. He saw Lieutenant Jackson and smiled, "Hello ma'am. Eager to explore a forest are we?" He teased.

Lizzie grinned. "I might even get lost for a few hours."

Daniels walked in, and nodded to the two. He had a backpack with a rolled sleeping mat, and contained within it, a spare change of clothing, field rations for a few people, or days, and a few spare phaser power packs. A phaser on each side of his belt-holster, and a tricorder next to the left one, he patiently waited for the other security officer to arrive.

"Loretta, you are far too out of shape. Get out of here, and tell Kyt that she'd better come down herself, or pick someone else." Daniels said, with a shake of his head. "You can't even carry your own equipment without losing breath."

"Sorry, Daniels." The woman said, between breaths.

Daniels tapped his comm-badge. "Daniels to Kyt. Loretta isn't coming. Mind sending someone else?" He asked. Then tapped his comm badge a second time.

"Ensign Stran is on his way." Was the only response.

"Restricted from duty, until you can lift 50 Lbs of equipment for a several-hour long hike." Daniels said. "Dismissed."

Lizzie didn't say anything to either of them. She pulled out a PADD and pretended to read it, not wanting to gawk at the two security officers. 50 pounds? She didn't have that much with her. But then, she didn't expect to need much.

Daniels quirked an eyebrow at Lieutenant JG Jackson. "I know. 50 pounds seems excessive." He said with a chuckle, as if reading her mind. "It's better to be capable, and not need it, than need it, and not be capable. You'd be surprised how often Security Officers get tasked with being beasts of burden on away teams.

Lizzie tried hard not to laugh at the mental image. "I'll remember that next time I'm hauling gear up a hill, Ensign."

Daniels chuckled. "That's why I'm glad we're being issued a Vulcan."

"To carry your gear up hills?" Lizzie had to ask.

Daniels shook his head. "Nah. To carry yours." He said with a laugh. "I can handle my equipment, plus 20 pounds more, at fast march, or light run for almost an hour. Don't need the organic forklifts to help."

Stran quirked an eyebrow. "Quite illogical, Ensign." Stran said, sounding slightly confused. "Precisely how do my arms resemble forks?"

"They don't," Leo said as he walked in with Sergeant Riley. "He's saying you act much like the Fork lifts back on Earth. They were used to lift heavier objects for short periods of time, and to put them away in higher places." His own pack was larger, and seemed a little heavier. "But as a word of caution Ensign. Never trust your pack with another man. If they go down, you're on a bullet train to no where."

Stran quirked an eyebrow, but refrained from commenting.

Allen said nothing as he looked around the room at those he would be spending the next few days with. He was quite content to stay as quiet and out of the way as possible.

Doctor Hart walked into the room and snickered when he saw the marines. "This is about the 3rd or the 4th time we bump into each other." Beside him, a female nurse stood. "This time, it is two medical crews to this away team. You may or may not remember her. This is Nurse Yvette Jaynes. She hasn't had a lot of experience with the away team, so we are going to bring her along."

Shyly, Yvette raised her hand to do a short wave, "Hi, guys." She pulled the duffel bag off her shoulder, as it appears to be a little heavy for her.

Daniels nodded to Yvette, and extended a hand. "A pleasure, ma'am."

Stran merely gave her, and Doctor Hart a brief nod, and went back to pondering the strange idiom Daniels used, and the stranger still explanation he got of it from the marines.

Yvette nodded as she shook Daniel's hand, "Nice to meet you..."

Leo nodded to both the Doctor and the Nurse. "Is everyone here? I'm kind of itchy to see what we can see in the planet of OZ."

Serena walked up to them with a small duffle bag across her shoulder, she was quite nervous but didn't show it. "So am I," she blurted out, "This is kinda exciting don't you think?" People looked at her with a weird look. "Well I think it is," she stated bluntly to everyone and lowered her eyesight to the ground.

=^= Lovok to Tal, I don't mean to bug you but how far away are you from the Shuttlebay? =^= Marek called his Kazon friend.

Daniels checked his gear over one last time, and nodded to the Vulcan. "I'm pretty sure I have everything."

The Vulcan quirked an eyebrow. "I ensured that 4.7 hours ago, when you suggested to Ensign Kyt that Loretta Wilcox was not capable of shore leave duty."

"Not everyone thinks like a Vulcan, Stran." Daniels muttered. He mumbled something the sounded like small grass.

"True," Lizzie said. "Some people prefer the way Vulcans think."

"All depends if the Vulcan thinking is going to get me killed," Leo said as he looked around. "I think they're more suited for sciences and the like after they decide to participate in what ever that emotion numbing, and brain cell killing ritual they all have."

"That is not a very polite inter-racial comment, 1st Lieutenant. I would have presumed someone in your position to not degenerate into racist comments." Stran noted.

Serena saw what was going on and she step in and stated, "Hey please you guys. It doesn't matter dose it." Then she looked at whoever was fighting and continued, "Lets go. If not I'll leave you guys here." She hated to sound so mean but soon after, walking threw she sat her stuff down in the shuttlecraft and positioned herself in the front in the helms area. She tapped on the console to make sure everything was in check. Before she messaged the bridge for the departure she stated loudly, "Is everyone on that is suppose to be on. Because were leaving ASAP."
