1,273 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: Peace, or Something Like It
Location: Mercenary Ship
Timeline: Current

[Mercenary Ship]

[OLD]

With his training, Trent quickly sized up his opponent. The Orion stood about 6'3" and weighted approximately 240 pounds; his body mass showed a high center of gravity from the way he carried himself. He was left handed, told by the hand his weapon was in. Most importantly, he read that the mercenary had no idea how to use that weapon. Trent's head tilted to the side, he had this sorted.

[NEW]

He flexed his fists once before bringing them up in a defensive posture and stood ready for the attack. "I'm sorry about your arm." He said cryptically in a low tone.

The mercenary looked confused for a second before shaking his head of the nonsense. His eyes went wide as he let out a challenging roar a half second before charging forward. His feet pounded heavily on the deck as he barrelled at his quarry. Inches away, the Orion thrust his blade in for a killing blow aimed at the Marine's stomach.

In the time of less than a second a number of things happened. Trent tucked down slightly and spread his legs to that he had a low center of gravity. His torso then twisted to the side, just enough so that the tip of the blade found no purchase on him but the arm remained close to his body. His right hand reached out and grabbed that arm forcing it just low enough so that his left forearm cleared the blade and rammed into the neck of the Orion. Using the mercenary's weight and momentum along with Trent's low center, the Orion's body pivoted on the Marine's forearm, kicking his feet out from under him. Trent held the mercenary's weapon arm against his body, further stalling the advance.

The Orion was held aloft for what seemed like several seconds before his weight finally caught up with him and he crashed to the deck beneath him. Not wasting any time Trent used his already bent knee as another pivot point, though this time pulling the Orion's arm over it. A loud crack resounded as the bone snapped under the stress and suddenly the arm went limp; dropping the weapon in hand. The Orion tried to cry out in pain but couldn't as he was gasping for breath. What did come out was a pathetic groan as he writhed in pain.

Trent released the slack arm and kicked away the blade from reach. He slowly reached to his side and relieved his TR110 sidearm and pointed it at the helpless attacker. He made sure to make eye contact with the mercenary before speaking. "You might not have heard, but the Sergeant told you to drop your weapons."

[Bridge]

Leroy stepped onto the bridge and looked around. The crew was either knocked out or they were seriously hurt. "Save them," he said looking back at the corpsman. "The rest of you, the ones that aren't bleeding I want cuffs on them. After the bleeding has been arrested, lock them up. I want them no closer than six feet from one another." Looking at the bomb tech he nodded. "Find the machine that's keeping our friends from joining us. Also, I want to help our team down in Engineering. Chichire, if there's a way that you can figure out for that to happen, do it." Stepping forward, he looked down at the "Captain" of the vessel they had just raided. "You're under arrest, and have about half a second to start talking."

The Merc looked up at Leo with wide eyes and started talking. They had been paid to attack the Federation ship, then leave if the battle got to heated. They were to have the Federation follow them, and bring them into an ambush that had already been sprung, and destroyed. He didn't know who the ultimate seller was, only that if they could manage it, they wanted the Calypso. The ultimate buyer and seller wanted the Calypso to help with some movement later on, and that he would be made a higher power in the new order of the universe.

-^- Mangalia to Raine, you want me to bring this one home?-^-

-^- Bring them All, Leo.-^- Damon responded. -^-Keep him separate from the others. We can sort out the rest once on board. I want you guys to secure that ship and get back over here right away, I have a relief team ready to go once you are.-^-

Leo didn't answer his bosses comment but opened up the comms to his Engineering team. -^-Is Engineering secured? If so, make sure the Major knows that we have prisoners incoming. It's up to him where they go.-^- Looking down at the Captain of the vessel he smiled. "But your mine." Smiling down he asked the man again where the dampening fields were being created from, and again there was no answer. Looking around the bridge, he found a Junior Officer, and ordered the Marine to drag the boy over. "Tell me where the dampening field is," he said to the junior officer, staring the being down. When he didn't answer, Leo slung his weapon and knelt down, to get to eye level with the prisoner. "If you tell me where it is, all of this goes away." The young man's eyes lit up and he told Leo exactly what he needed to know.

Walking to the captains chair, he found the release for the dampening fields, and turned them off. He could almost feel the cloud of lead being lifted from around them. -^-Major, you can send the reserves in through the bridge. Engineering isn't that far down the hall, about a two minute run.-^-

[Calypso]

-^-Sending reserves now. Well done, you did a hell of a job Leo.-^-Damon was glad that the ship was under Marine control with no Marine casualties. It certainly would have been an uphill battle but once again the SFMC had proven its prowess.

He looked over to a number of assembled Marines and gave them the go ahead to transport over. Without the dampeners in place the entire mercenary ship was opened for access. Soon an entire platoon would be on board securing the ship room by room. All in all, it was a successful operation.

[Engineering]

As soon as the few remaining Mercs surrendered, Kara ordered her team to secure the prisoners. She went over to the main console and shut down the warp core. Once the process began, it would take a while to power it up again. Plenty of time to secure te ship and beam over reinforcements. She next shut down power to the shields and any dampening devices being used -- just in case.

"Melo to Raine. Engineering is secured. Warp and shields are... down. We have some crates and prisoners that need to be transported to the Calypso."

-^-Well done Sergeant. Support is en-route as we speak. Have the prisoners prepared for transport straight to their holding cells. As for you, get back to the Caly, I believe I owe you all a well deserved drink.-^-

"Aye, sir." She looked around at her team. Except for Trent, they were all in good health. Trent needed a trip to sickbay. She sent the pertinent information to the Calypso. "Beta team ready to beam up."
