Mission: Peace, or Something Like It
Ensign Daniel Daniels scowled. The security department was left headless, and disorganized. Daniels had been handed a PADD by Gunnery Sergeant Kyt, which involved an incident on Starbase Typhon, thusly resulting in the arrest of Chief Warrant officer Winchester.
He shook his head. One of the few things he knew about the Chief Security Officer was his interest in the two dimensional women, one Ensign Suzette De Fresa.
Having just finished his paperwork, and the Department Chief's paperwork, since he knew full well Lieutenant Junior Grade Lyre would not do so, not wanting to usurp the duties of the Chief Security Officer without proper clearance, he tapped his comm badge. "Computer, locate Ensign de Fresa."
"Ensign de Fresa is in the Intelligence Office," the computer said.
Daniels instructed the computer to direct him there, and when he arrived, he took a deep breath. "This is not going to end well." He muttered.
He pressed the door chime, and attempted to look like he was waiting patiently.
"Enter," Ensign Peters said. He was going over the reports from the planet and was grateful for the brief interruption.
Daniels sighed, as he entered. "I'm looking for an Ensign de Fresa." He said with an imitation of a smile.
Peters pointed to a door in the back. "She's in there."
Daniels nodded, and followed the directions. He entered the area, and looked around. "Ensign de Fresa?"
Suzette was standing next to one of the computer consoles. She was standing sideways, so from hte door she was practically invisible. When she heard her name her head turned. "Yes?"
"Uhm... Hi. Ensign Daniel Daniels, Security." Daniels noted. "It's... about Lieutenant Jaxara, ma'am."
Suzette turned her body to face Daniels. By the expression on his face, she knew it was serious. "What about Lieutenant Jaxara?"
"He is... uhm..." Daniels cleared his throat. "Gone."
"Gone where?"
Daniels shook his head. "Gone. In a permanent sense."
Suzette blinked, keeping all expression off her face. "What happened?"
"He was on an away mission, to find the Captain. He did so. He did not recover from his injuries, that he sustained in that endeavor." Daniels said with a nod.
Her head drooped. She liked Lorne a great deal. "Thank you for letting me know," she said quietly.
"I thought it best you were told by someone else who knew him, rather than read it in the ship's news." Daniels said softly. "I am sorry for your loss, ma'am."
Suzette could feel the tears running down her face. It had been a long time since she cried. At a loss for words, all she could do was nod her head. She was grateful for his consideration. Now, she needed to be alone for a while.
"Ma'am, one other thing. It's not going to be a big thing, as I have my doubts as to whether or not certain individuals being present would be wise, but a Gunnery Sergeant Kyt feels rather responsible for looking after the Lieutenant's wishes. She said she would arrange a memorial service in the Security Lounge. You are welcome to attend, just, please, after some of the Lieutenant's.... escapades... keep it quiet." Daniels said with a nod. "If there is nothing else, I have a great deal of paperwork to tackle."
He politely turned his head from her, so it would not appear that he was noticing her tears.
"Thank you, Ensign. Please let me know when the service will be held," Suzette said. "I won't tell anyone." She turned her back to the Ensign and pretended to look at her console. She needed to be alone now.
Daniels nodded, and left the room.
